Getting Started
Tips and Advice
A pharmaceutical internship abroad can be an exciting step towards expanding your professional horizons. Here’s a simple guide to help you find the perfect program and prepare for the journey ahead.
1. Get matched
The Online Advisor on GoAbroad can match you with programs in real time. Results go straight to your inbox!
2. Choose a program
Compare programs side-by-side! Sign up for a MyGoAbroad account if you haven’t already got into some serious program searching.
3. Best time to go
Pharma opportunities are widely available year-round. A few ideas to start:
- Summer. For students or young professionals with a summer break. Summer often has more internship opportunities.
- Fall. Aligns with academic semesters, and can pair up with a study abroad nicely—if offered. A good plus to know, it’s generally less competitive than summer.
- Winter. If you’re interested in a shorter internship, you can find some during holiday breaks. It’s a great time to gain experience without a long commitment.
- Spring. Often, there are fewer applicants, so there are more opportunities to stand out. It also fits well with semester breaks.
4. Funding & scholarships
GoAbroad has a great scholarship and deals application! Just fill out the application to see what’s waiting for you!
5. Apply
Once you’ve found a program that interests you, simply go to the program’s page and click "Inquire Here" or "Apply Now." A program coordinator will then get in touch to guide you through the next steps of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find pharmaceutical companies with internships abroad?
You have 3 main options for finding pharmaceutical companies with international internships. One, ask your university about existing partnerships or advice on ideal placements abroad. Two, contact your preferred pharmaceutical company to check if they have existing programs. Third, visit online platforms that list internship programs from organizations and institutions worldwide.
What kind of internships do pharmaceutical industries offer?
Numerous industry internships are available, with some not necessarily seeking pharmaceutical students or graduates. For instance, placements in finance and clinical research may be open to postgrads in business administration, medicine, and healthcare. Frequently, internships are available in pharmaceutical and medical communications companies, drug safety-related agencies and organizations, and hospital pharmacies.
Are there pharmaceutical companies that offer summer internships?
Pharmaceutical companies offer internships throughout the year, with some posting placements in late fall or spring. Summer internships are definitely available and typically last between two and three months.
Do pharmacy interns get paid?
The answer depends largely on the pharmaceutical company offering the internship. Generally, pharmacy interns receive monthly stipends instead of the traditional weekly or monthly salary. Host companies in countries like the US, Australia, and Canada pay interns throughout the program.
Where can I find pharmaceutical internships abroad?
You can find pharmaceutical internships worldwide. But if you’re looking for countries with the highest-paying positions for pharmacists or with leading manufacturing companies, China, Germany, Canada, the UK, and the US are ideal destinations.

Good Support
August 18, 2026by: Keely Garri - United StatesI'm very thankful for AIP's assistance in securing my internship in Seoul, South Korea (8 weeks). What really makes AIP wonderful is the on ground support they provided. I was able to get in touch with my support persons 24/7 when I had an emergency! Having the extra support when finding and completing and internship abroad was invaluable!
An eye opening experience!
August 18, 2026by: MacKynley Cataldo - United StatesI had the opportunity to participate in a study abroad with Arizona State University and Absolute Internship. We spent our time in Portugal exploring different parts of the country and learning about it's deep history and global impact. It was an experience I would love to live again and has inspired a desire to explore more parts of the world!
Internship in Japan was fun
August 17, 2026by: Aiden Morris - United StatesMy stay in Japan for three months over the summer was super fun. I was able to learn a lot from my internship while also being able to explore Japan for all that it has to offer. My apartment was in convenient places located near Shibuya and Shinjuku.
Change your life, network, and perspective
August 15, 2026by: Victoria Gacutan - United StatesProgram: International Internships in Dublin
I will always be an advocate to intern or study abroad. No matter where you choose to go, you will leave with your life changed. The Intern Group is a reputable, reliable choice. Dublin is a great city to explore and work in, especially if you like more mid-size and communal cities. What you put into the program is what you get out, so explore and experience all you can. There’s a lot to do in Dublin, as you have both of best worlds, being by the city and sea. As an avid ocean lover, I was able to be in the ocean, but also get my city girl on which I loved. Adam and Laura were our ECs here in Dublin. They were great in coordinating social plans while getting accustomed to Dublin and if we had any questions, they were very supportive.
A Program That Truly Delivers!
August 15, 2026by: Megan Hoang - United StatesProgram: International Internships in Dublin
This internship abroad is the kind of experience that changes how you see yourself. Away from the usual routines and support systems back home, you’re forced to figure things out on your own, and that’s where the real growth happens. Navigating a new place, solving problems solo, building a routine from scratch: it teaches you more about independence than any classroom ever could. The program also gives you room to actually test out a career path instead of just guessing at it. You get to try the work firsthand and see what genuinely clicks. What stands out most is the community and the events. Everyone’s going through the same adjustment, which creates a natural closeness. People get it, and they show up for each other, which makes the hard parts a lot easier to handle. Overall, a genuinely worthwhile experience. Highly recommend.
Thinking outside the box
August 15, 2026by: Giorgia Salgarelli - ItalyProgram: International Internships in Dublin
This experience gave me so much. During my internship, I learned to see things from different perspectives and to try new things without fear also because the people I worked with were very kind, helpful and supportive. I'm very grateful for everything and experiences like this are very important because if you think that you have an open mind like this one helps to think outside the box and learn how to solve problems and new challenges without fear!
Learning with the experts!
August 14, 2026by: Carlos Rosero - EcuadorProgram: J-1 Visa Sponsorship in USA for STEM Interns & Trainees
Living outside your hometown can be scary sometimes as is not something that you do everyday, or maybe you haven't had the chance to leave your house or small town for longer than 1 week. This was a great experience and journey for me as i had the chance to apply what I have learn back on my school days plus learning more not only from my personal knowledge about industry, machinery, people. Nonthless, this wasnt the only fun part, I was able to meet and live into another work culture, changing schdules working on different areas, experience different traditions. I like to tell and hear stories, fortunately USA, is full of stories from past present and future, with different people, some of them got here for work, improving life and I think I like that vision of changing your scenario for a better one, in which you can learn about other and about yourself.
My first experience abroad!

Not only the work environment was fantastic, but also the moments spent with my flatmates made a difference in this experience
The greatest two months of my life
August 12, 2026by: Campbell Adams - United StatesThe program itself was amazing. I had a great placement. Work life is very fun and chill, but also enough work where I was learning a great amount. The program has a ton of opportunities to get together and do cool trips, but it also gives you the free freedom to travel. The two coordinators were awesome. Best trip I've ever had
August 12, 2026by: Rohit Vyas - United StatesMy experience abroad was something I will always be grateful for. The internship gave me valuable professional experience and allowed me to learn what it is like to work in a different country and culture. I was able to gain hands-on experience in both warehouse and office environments, which helped me better understand logistics and supply chain operations. One of my favorite parts of the program was the weekend trips around Portugal. Getting to explore different cities and places with the other students made the experience even more memorable. The people I met through the program were one of the biggest highlights, and many of them have become lifelong friends. Overall, this experience pushed me outside of my comfort zone, helped me become more independent, and gave me memories and relationships that I will carry with me long after the internship ended. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a mix of professional growth, travel, and an opportunity to meet great people.

Beyond was great at having activities and initiating meet ups with the other interns. I loved the atmosphere of Berlin. I felt that it had a very gritty, artistic vibe to it which I really enjoyed.
Loved it!
August 11, 2026by: Mysha Khan - United StatesAIP made my summer internship in South Korea fun and supportive! I was able to safely explore Korea while knowing if I ever needed anything they'd be one text away for help. They were so eager to get know us and allowed me to feel comfortable while doing something outside my comfort zone. I learned so much and I'm so grateful to have had this experience with AIP.
Whiskey Time!
August 10, 2026by: Elena Gao - United StatesProgram: Global Internship & Volunteer Programs with Connect-123!
I had such a wonderful experience working at a Whiskey Distillery in Dublin. The staff were all so genuinely nice and made me feel right at home. Rotating through the cafe, reception, and the back bar allowed me to understand all the different phases of a working distillery, and meeting the bosses was a great addition to the program. Dublin attracts so much tourism, I really enjoyed meeting so many different people from all over the world at my work. It felt like a true mix of diversity, which allowed me to learn so many unique things from everyone I encountered. I was also incredibly glad to use my Mandarin skills to help out. On my days off, I had the best time exploring Dublin, traveling around Ireland, and adventuring into other European countries. It was a beautiful journey both professionally and personally!

I will do it again
August 10, 2026by: Mads Andersen - DenmarkProgram: GAC Gap Year Learn Chinese & Internship in China Program
After finishing school in Denmark, I wanted something meaningful before university. GAC's gap year program in Beijing was perfect. I interned at a consulting firm in the mornings and studied Mandarin at BLCU in the afternoons. The team arranged everything – my internship, classes, shared apartment, and even weekend trips to the Great Wall and Xi'an. I came back with real work experience, improved Chinese, and a clear direction for my future. Best decision I ever made. If I get to do it again, I will certainly go with GAC's program.

I had the best summer of my life!
August 10, 2026by: Aadi Kumar - United StatesI got to meet so many amazing people while getting to explore a new city, all while building my resume at an amazing internship company that will leave a lasting impact on me. The community coordinators are the nicest people ever and make sure that you feel like you belong in the city, no matter where you are from :)
