Tokyo Internships with Beyond Academy

From the moment I applied to after my internship ended, Beyond Academy was nothing short of professional and supportive. I had the best time at my internship and had many opportunities to explore Tokyo and other parts of Japan during my time there. I loved the social events and made many new friends that I hope to stay in contact with for years to come. My internship was also the perfect fit for me, and I did meaningful work and gained a lot from it. I definitely feel more confident going into my future career. I will cherish my time in Tokyo with Beyond for a lifetime.

This was an absolutely amazing experience! Outside from working hard at my internship and gaining new skills in what I’m passionate in, I was also able to make great relationships with like minded people during my stay. I never had to worry about anything except whether I had enough time to do everything I had planned for a day! But I’ve made connections with others that I will come to cherish forever, and will keep me coming back someday.

This program was amazing! The interview process was smooth, and the support beyond academy offers was great! The coordinators in Tokyo were perfect and always kept things fun and stress free. I loved my time with Beyond! I got to meet so many amazing people, and absolutely loved all of the community events they hosted. I worked as a graphic designer/ marketer for a fashion technology company which is not what I’d usually choose but I ended loving it. I had a few issues with housing and the company that hosts it but the community coordinators were very helpful when it came to that. If you have the funds I would highly recommend this program!

I worked as a graphic design intern, for two months. Really enjoyed my time, the Tokyo coordinators really supported me and made me feel welcomed. My internship company were wonderful and I got to work on designing some characters for them. Would definitely recommend doing an internship with beyond academy.

Other than the set activities, the events always vary, making every week different and exciting. Some of my favorite memories were the Tea Ceremony in Kimonos, TeamLabs and an all you can eat cafe! I completed a 2 month internship at a tech company in Tokyo through Beyond Academy. At work, I created digital assets that will be used in an app currently and in the future! This has definitely provided me with a great boost to my resume which will help me stand out for future jobs. The weekly events all around Tokyo and outside of Tokyo were so fun and left me with so many new friends. The coordinators were also so kind and supportive of all of us as well. I would genuinely recommend Beyond Academy for anyone looking to experience daily life and work in another country!

I completed an internship with Beyond Academy this month in Tokyo. I was there for 6 weeks. While my host company maybe wasn’t the best fit for me, I am grateful for the overall experience, and the community team in Tokyo did everything they could to make the experience good for everyone. The only thing I will say is that you will not be guaranteed accommodation with other Beyond Academy interns - so it might be harder to make friends if so. Overall good experience.

Beyond Academy was the best decision I made post-graduation. Japan has always been a place I wanted to visit (as my grandad used to work there) and now having worked, lived and travelled around Japan, it has become a pinnacle moment of my youth and is helping me navigate my future goals. The support from friends and community coordinators made it that much more enjoyable and easy, everyone was there to welcome and support one another. Take that nervous next step, because I promise you it will be worth it, fortune always favours the brave.

I did 3 months in Tokyo basically building robots, going to events, eating good food and chilling with good people. Was a great experience loved meeting loads of different people along the way it was very fun plus my internship was fantastic, if you doing tech, it’s a very good place to get full job experience. Overall 100% recommend this to anyone seeking something adventure, culture and fun !!

Tokyo is an amazing location for an internship - many opportunities, dynamic social live and full of new experiences - it is a challenge not to enjoy your time here. My workplace was full with enthusiastic young people, which inspired me. Through Beyond Academy I've met many new people, who I'd proudly call lifetime friends now. Overall, the experience gives you the opportunity to explore Japan in ways one couldn't do as a tourist and it's totally worth it.

You will never going to have this kind of experience in the future ever! Securing an international internship is extremely challenging given the internship duration, language, and policies that are case by case. Hence I would recommend this program to help you save all those hassles. This is the only time you have in your life you can make this big investment without necessarily sacrificing others

I really enjoyed my time during my internship in Tokyo through Beyond Academy. Despite the company I interned at being less than stellar, to say the least, I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the community events and activities. I will say, I wouldn't recommend interning at a startup if you can help it.

I’d always wanted to visit Japan, and when I started looking for a summer internship, Beyond Academy stood out as the perfect fit and I’m really glad I went with them. It was my first internship and my first time traveling alone, so going halfway across the world felt intimidating at first. But having a built-in community through Beyond Academy made a huge difference. The Tokyo community team was incredibly kind and welcoming, and it was great to have people to explore Japan with. Some of my favorite events were the day trip to Enoshima Island and the visit to TeamLab Planets. I’m more of a “tag-along” than a planner, so I really appreciated the weekly events that helped me experience Tokyo without needing to research and organize everything myself. At the same time, there was enough flexibility to explore independently. I stayed in the accommodation provided by Beyond: a sharehouse which was clean and comfortable for an 8-week stay. The rooms were small but sufficient for the 2 months I was there. I also had a great experience with my host company. My coworkers were friendly and supportive, and the tasks I was assigned were manageable. I had signed up for a Software Development internship but ended up working more with AI and query tuning than hands-on coding. Still, as my first internship, it was a good learning experience and gave me insight into a professional work environment. One thing I was nervous about before arriving was the transportation system—I had never even taken a subway before. But I quickly got the hang of it, and Tokyo’s public transit is incredibly efficient. I did have to figure out routes to events on my own, but it became easier with time. One thing to keep in mind is the summer weather. I was there from June to July, and the heat and humidity were intense, especially if you're not used to subtropical weather. I absolutely loved my time here and definitely plan to return someday, but next time I think I’ll visit during a cooler season.

I had a wonderful time doing this internship! The placement process was a little rocky and lacked communication at times, but the internship itself gave me a good opportunity to grow professionally. Housing was simple and shared. Additionally, there were many events to connect with the other interns during, and I was able to make lots of friends during my time in Tokyo because of this.

This experience was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Getting the opportunity to avoid “real life” while exploring a different country and gaining experience to put on a resume was perfect. Each week brought fun new events

I absolutely loved doing this program. I will admit, in the beginning through the application process and interviews and such I had a really hard time with communicating as well as the language they use makes you have to rush through it all quickly. Even with that being said the actual program itself is so amazing. I am so glad that I was able to come and do this opportunity. It has given me professional experience as well as so many new personal connections. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to live abroad and really soak in the culture through daily life. It really has been such a fun experience.

During my internship and placement with Beyond Academy it has been wonderful. I absolutely loved this program. I went to Tokyo, Japan for my internship and it was just absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed my time there and the friends I made inside the program Everything was very well coordinated and planned out, very easy to go through the steps of interviewing and selecting a company to work for. Support was easy to get and communicate with if you had any issues or problems. There were also many community events for you to explore new places and meet other people who are doing the same program as you so you can make friends. I did an 8 week program in Tokyo, Japan and it was incredible. I practiced skills related to my field and got to learn a little outside my field too. I also got to learn how to live abroad in a foreign country and I think that alone has open a lot of doors for me.

I spent four months with the Beyond Community in Tokyo. The coordinators make sure everyone's having a great time, and it's so easy to make friends. The community itself is very friendly and the events planned are amazing, they really get you to visit the places in Tokyo you wouldn't think to visit yourself. It makes for a really unique experience of Tokyo than just a visit. You'll have a great time if you go!

Absolute amazing time, living and working in Japan helps make you feel that you are actually apart of the society. Great time with all my peers. Wether it be hiking through the mountains hunting for views that could make a grown man cry or walking around Japan hunting for achievements and collectibles in different places. The program was great for it all. I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience what it’s like living and working in Japan. Great time and I can’t wait to visit again.

This program was super fun and well organized. The community coordinators were very kind and welcoming to the interns and were always there to provide us with advice and lend us a listening ear if we ever needed one. The coordinators were very open to suggestions in terms of community events which was great, they made sure everyone would be included and always felt safe (shout out to Olivia and Stephanie <3) The Beyond team was very efficient at securing an interview for a potential host company and provided me with many resources in order to prepare me for the interview. This was my first ever “big” interview and with their advice, I was able to secure a position at the first company found!

I had such a great time interning in Tokyo for 2 months. Met amazing friends and lived with them in the accommodation, saw a lot of Tokyo sights organized by the team, and learned a lot from my Internship there. I did a 6-month internship in Tokyo with Beyond Academy and had a great experience overall. The internship lined up well with what I was aiming for, both personally and professionally. Tokyo is just an incredible city to live in. There’s always something happening, the food is unreal, and every neighborhood has its own vibe. I visited twice before this program, but living and working here is completely different (in a good way ofc). The coordinators, Olivia and Stephanie, were amazing. They’re super fun, easy to talk to, and always ready to help with anything - from hospital visits to food recommendations. They made the whole experience super smooth and enjoyable. The accommodation was clean, safe, and in a great location. Living with other interns was fun and made it easier to settle in. I can say I definitely made some lifelong friends through the program. I was skeptical at first about the events, but they were actually great - well-planned, varied, and a fun way to explore Tokyo and meet people without it feeling forced. As a bonus, I actually ended up landing a full-time job in Japan after the internship, which would've never happened if it wasn't for the program lol. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend the program to anyone serious about gaining international work experience and exploring Tokyo/Japan.

The experience was very memorable, I gained a lot not only for career direction but also adventures that shaped my paradigm. I met a lot of really lovely people on the trip, from the staff to other participants of the program, it was truly a worthwhile experience to be a part of.

I just concluded a 6 month program, and I can solidly say it was one of the best decisions I've made. Sure, the cost is not cheap but it's still a better deal than other similar programs, and after meeting other interns from other companies that offer internships in Japan, I can say with confidence I'm very glad I went with Beyond. The support was amazing, and I loved the coordinators, especially Stephanie and Olivia, who were there the entire duration of my program. I will be honest, what you get out of this is what you make of it, so as long as you're dedicated and set on having a once in a lifetime experience, you're going to be glad you chose this!

The staff and community coordinators in Beyond Academy helped make my internship experience super fun and easy to adjust to the busy city, and the community events that they put on were very fun and allowed me to make good friends with the other interns in the program!

I had an excellent time on this program, I learn loads and found the Beyond Academy company brilliant at organizing events and give tips for traveling around Tokyo! I genuinely enjoyed doing my internship in Japan. I would not say the work environment in Japan is the best but depending on the company you work for, there can be a lot of freedom. There are sooo many activities you can do in Japan and maybe even travel to different Asian countries with the friends you make at the program. I will forever cherish my memories made in the busy country of Japan.

Beyond Academy internships are not only an incredible opportunity to explore a new country and culture, but also provide the opportunity to grow in your career and strengthen your assets! Moving abroad for 6 months or even 6 weeks can be an intimidating idea, but the staff at Beyond Academy makes it as smooth as possible and ensures support, community and cultural activities. I couldn’t imagine finding the internship on my own, and I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to do the activities without a group to facilitate it. Having options weekly of events to do ensured I made the most out of my time and I’m so thankful to have had such a wonderful staff on site to support me!

The time I spent in Japan was amazing, but not perfect. The internship itself was really fun and helpful. Everything you do during the internship will depend entirely on the company you work for. I was lucky in that I worked for a foreign company but the downside was the commute. I would highly recommend looking for your own accommodation as it's so much cheaper and overall better. The social side of things is mixed. There are events which might interest you and might not. I was able to make some amazing friends and we ended up doing our own thing. Do what makes you happy, for your internship time. I'll probably always look back at my time in Japan fondly, because I've made friends for life and I had so much fun.

Beyond Academy have helped me secure a tech internship in Tokyo. Throughout the application process, they provided a ton of help and support to bolster my chances of attaining an internship in Tokyo. During my stay in Tokyo, they also provides a culturally immersive experience, through day trips and even wearing kimonos. This allowed me to meet and connect with like-minded people who were also in the program, giving me a chance to network. During my internship, I was also provided with a lot of support throughout the experience and whenever I was in need, the community officers would provide sufficient support throughout, ensuring I had a wonderful and welcoming stay in Tokyo. Overall I would highly recommend this program to those who are not well-informed about internships abroad and would like to have a chance to immerse in different cultures and experiences

My time in Japan was incredible! The Tokyo team with Beyond Academy were amazing, A friendly face and supporting hand wherever and Whenever I needed them. The program gives you the space to explore the city and the culture, network with other interns, develop your CV with one on one CV guidance and most importantly grow as an individual. It also can see the opportunity to travel during my time in Japan. I visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone, Yokohama and visited Seoul, Korea. I couldn’t recommend the program more to anyone who is starting their career and needing a boost in experience and adventure.

The Beyond Academy Tokyo Internship program was an exciting way for me to explore Tokyo, learn about Japanese culture, and gain some professional experience. The Beyond Academy program coordinators did an amazing job at being responsive, helping us navigate and acclimate to the new environment, and hosting community-building events. I really enjoyed the included Mt. Fuji trip, the tea ceremony in kimonos, and other dinners/events hosted by the coordinators. Beyond Academy overall helped me feel prepared, safe, and excited to explore Tokyo and see new things. The work experience was very entry-level level, and my particular workplace was not a traditional Japanese work environment at all. In one sense, this made it very welcoming and comfortable for me, but it also did not give me a great deal of exposure to Japanese business culture. Depending on what you are looking for, this could be a good thing or not the best thing. Also, if you speak Japanese (unlike me) you will have a greater number of options, many of which may be offer a more traditional Japanese work environment! None the less, I was still able to develop some new skills and learn a bit about the Japanese fintech market and finance as a whole, as that was the focus of my internship!

I was awarded a scholarship by my school to choose an Asian country to complete an internship in and I chose Tokyo at the last minute, not knowing what to expect and I couldn’t have chosen better. This experience has given me a new outlook on life and how to live it- not only has my career progressed but so have I.

When I was searching for an international internship, I was searching and looking at different agencies. I chose to go to Tokyo with a business-industry-focused internship for eight weeks, and it did not disappoint! I was placed with an amazing company that specializes in recruitment in Japan and I got to learn so much from the experience. One day I was just scrolling around Instagram and then suddenly I came across an ad from Beyond Academy. It sparked my interest because I wanted to get an internship to boost up my resume & also explore Japan as well. So I went through the process & eventually I landed an internship in Tokyo. When I first landed in Haneda Airport for the first time, it felt so surreal to me because going to Japan has been my dream for a while & now it finally came true. My internship experience was really amazing, the office I worked at was great & I made friends with my fellow co-workers. My boss was also super goated as well, he would usually provide snacks for us & even treated dinner for us one day. I also made some good friends with the other interns through the many events in this program & made a ton of memories in Tokyo that I'll cherish forever. If you're reading this review right now, I definitely recommend signing up for this program if you're interested in doing an internship in Japan. Sure, the trip will cost a lot of money depending on how long you stay but both the internship & exploring what Japan has to offer will definitely be worth the money & the experience at the same time. What is your advice to future travelers on this program? I definitely recommend future interns to buy a sim or esim card if possible before landing in Japan. Sure, I was able to get by Tokyo & somehow not get lost once with just free wifi but it's way more convenient if you have a sim card. Also, please try to get a Suica or Pasmo card asap when you arrive at the airport, these are cards that will help you get through gates at train stations and they're basically a necessity to have in Tokyo, because you will definitely use the train everyday whether that would be for work or traveling. I had to buy train tickets for my first week & it got kinda annoying quick. It didn't take until over a week for me to finally get a Suica card (at one of the exits in Shinjuku or Tokyo Station I think?). There are also mobile apps that you can download on your phone and you can scan your phone at the gates to get by, though this only works for iPhone users. Pros Commuting is pretty convenient around here, doesn't take that long wherever you want to go. There are conveince stores & also vending machines everywhere if you're feeling either hungry or thirsty. There is just so so so much stuff to do in Tokyo & there's always something for everyone with Shibuya & Akihabara being the top cities I visited the most. Cons For some reason, trash cans are oddly rare in Japan but this is because the country is pretty clean. Still, sometimes I have to store my trash in my backpack or tote bag until I finally find a trash can somewhere or when I get back home. This is just a nitpick, but I don't like how train stations are windy, I lost one of my straw hats because of that. Oh, & trains can definitely be crowded at times, especially during rush hour. The trip just went by super fast, wish I could stay here forever ;((((

This is great for someone who wants business experience in Tokyo but doesn’t know how to start. They pair you with a good company. I learned a lot about working in Japan. There are a lot of great events. My favorite was the mount Fuji day trip. Communication was also excellent! Made many friends and memories.

If you're looking to do an internship abroad and want to travel to Japan at the same time, then this program is for you! My internship experience overall was amazing & the events led by the coordinators were also very fun as well. I definitely wanna do this again next year!

If you're considering doing an internship through Beyond Academy, I'd say do not hesitate! Although the onboarding process was a bit shaky and lacked clarity, BA matched me with an amazing company in Tokyo. Words cannot describe how much I loved working with my boss and I'm so grateful for the doors of opportunity and relationships that have opened through it. Not to mention, the BA staff is stellar. They go above and beyond for the interns, and always checked in to make sure I was doing okay and adjusting. I'm so excited to go back and see them again!

I highly reccomend this program to anyone who wants work experience and to experience a different culture and travel. Japan is an incredible country and this was one of the most amazing experiences. It is easy to meet other interns through the community events held almost every week and I was able to gain valuable work experience through the program.

The Tokyo Program was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I met people and took part in activities that I would’ve otherwise never done, and the Beyond team were so helpful the entire time. From the moment you sign up until the day you leave Tokyo the team are on hand to help you with any worries or issues you may have, all while providing wonderful experiences for you to enjoy with others on the program. There were a great variety of events, all of which I loved doing. I couldn't recommend Beyond Academy enough to anyone who wants to see the sights of Tokyo while also getting a unique internship experience. 10/10

The Beyond Academy Tokyo program is an incredible program I'd recommend to anyone who's interested. From the moment you sign up to the day you leave Japan, they are so helpful and kind, and I think where they especially shine is with the local team. The local help team has been absolutely amazing throughout my whole time in Japan, and I honestly could not have asked for them to be any better. Beyond Academy also organises a huge number of events for interns to attend, with there usually being one on Thursday evenings and Sunday daytimes. These events are super useful for getting integrated in Tokyo, as well as getting to know your fellow interns better. Some of the events organised during my time here were a day trip to mount fuji, an afternoon in the historic area of asakusa wearing kimonos, a tour of different natural disasters and how to deal with them, held by the Tokyo fire department, and many more. All in all, this is a wonderful program, that I wholeheartedly support, and I'm so glad j chose to do it, having made many friends and great experiences to remember it by. I 100% recommend anyone considering it to give it a try.

All I can say is Wow! Although not my first time in Japan, I went in 2019 with another Internship program at the time, and to put it mildly the experience left somethings to be desired. However I decided to take another chance and found out about Beyond Academy. I'm gald I made the choice. The team from onboarding to Finance and then the support staff and Coordinators you meet in Japan, all went above and beyond to ensure and provide everything is up to par and should you need help their never a moments message away. Never in my dreams did I expect to go to Mount Fuji two days before my birthday! The events that they plan for the group range from exciting trips to well known and hidden secrets of Japan. For Dinners or Lunches the Coordinators will work with whatever food conditions you have and plan accordingly. I like to Thank the Staff Alize, Stephanie, Fristy for their hard word and dedication. 11/10 Would recommed to anyone whose first time visiting Japan or if you want a another experience for youself!

This was the most amazing two months of my life! I met so many interesting people, went to the most beautiful places and gained very valuable work experience though Beyond Academy's internship program. My internship company wanted to extend the internship even before and after the two months I was in Japan and I am still currently working for them. The coordinators were amazing and we became friends during my stay. I will continue this friendship past the Beyond Academy. I'm already planning my next stay in Japan. I have to come back! Also special thanks to Beyond Academy's finance side for working with my budget and having that flexibility so that I could attend this program. It was worth the money, and beyond.

The point of this trip for me was to immerse in a complete opposite lifestyle to experiment with what I enjoy and where my life could lead through career and even simply if I enjoy traveling. This trip has taught me a lot in less than 3 weeks and I have 7 more to go. So far the activities and freedoms I’ve found in this trip have exceeded my expectations, and I am overall very happy that I was given this opportunity.

I had the most incredible 2 months in Japan, it exceeded all my expectations and really started to feel like home. My internship in the charity industry was everything I hoped for, my manager pushed me to be my best self and I’m so grateful for his support throughout my time here. Stephanie and Fristy were amazing community coordinators and always made sure we were having a great time and having real Japanese experiences. I really loved the events that were organised for us. The only negative was that it was quite stressful getting my internship before I got here. It was only confirmed very close to when I was meant to be flying out. However, as soon as it was sorted it was just excitement from there. I already cant wait to return to Japan!

Going to Tokyo with beyond academy was a great decision. It allows you to step out of your comfort zone and explore a new part of the world. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to add to your resume and gain valuable work experience in the industry of your choice

During my internship in japan, I had so many good experiences, and the coordination was incredible. I’m glad I chose beyond academy, such a great community with 24/7 support whenever you need it. Would definitely recommend!

I was originally skeptical of the program because I didn’t have the best experience with internship choices and was essentially told to choose the first option presented to me (that didn’t match my career goals) and that they couldn’t guarantee any other interviews than that one due to lack of demand in that sector, but still required a hefty fee for their search. The internship that they got me was one that I had found independently on my own and could have gotten without their connection. However, I think that overall the program was worth it for my needs because they got me very nice housing close to my work, weekly dinners with everyone (the on-site staff was amazing), and extra resources that help with career development! I made great friends and really appreciated having a community in the big city that could have gotten lonely otherwise. Overall I really do recommend the program but do some research on the internship beforehand and be assertive about your needs!

My two months in Beyond Academy's programme in Tokyo was one of the best times in my life. I got to go explore and hang out in many different places in Tokyo, try out different foods, take part in many different events, and meet and have new friends thanks to Beyond Academy. It also allowed me to start my career strongly through the internship that they helped find for me, which was very engaging and fun. I would like to thank every single person (especially Stephanie and Fristy - the community cordinators) who works for Beyond Academy for this amazing unforgettable experience. I'd greatly recommend taking this program if you haven't already!

Beyond Academy provided a straight forward way in order to apply for the program. I got clear instructions and informations about the process in order to get selected. The whole preparation before arriving in Tokyo was explicit. And also the communication during the stay in Japan was always simple. I had lots of fun during the events proposed by Beyond Academy and I really appreciated having people around in order to socialise. I want to thank everyone who made this experience possible and I grateful and really appreciated all the work and time Stephanie and Fristy (coordinators in Tokyo) spent for me/us interns.

When I went to Tokyo to work, I couldn't even begin to anticipate what this city had in store. Beyond enhanced the city's magic by always having something to do, providing an incredible support team, and making me feel at home with my community there. I felt like I was able to get the true Tokyo experience, mainly with the help from Beyond and its members there.

Beyond Academy’s Tokyo program was truly amazing, it allowed me to have a great start to my career with my internship company which led to me being employed full time. The events are always fun to attend and with it being Tokyo, there is never a shortage of things to do and see. If help is never needed the Tokyo coordinators are always happy to help with whatever it may be. Overall, the Beyond Academy Tokyo program is absolutely amazing and a great option for anyone looking to intern in Tokyo.

I had a wonderful three month internship in Tokyo facilitated by the amazing folks at Beyond Academy. The Beyond Academy team helped pair me up with a company, found me a place to stay, and planned tons of social events coordinated by the amazing Imran and Anabelle. Spending a few months in Japan was a great way to experience a different work culture, and Beyond Academy truly went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and to make my time in Tokyo fun and rewarding. I highly recommend this program to anyone with even a passing interest in Japan and Japanese culture.

My time in Tokyo was honestly the best experience ever. I was quite nervous before leaving but the help and support that the Beyond team gave me was really what made the entire experience so great. From helping me prepare for interviews to even advising me on what to pack for the trip! I arrived at a similar time as another intern, and we were picked up from the airport by the community manager. Being able to meet others who were new in town during orientation really helped me settle in as well, and my worries went away pretty quickly. The internship itself was fantastic. I worked hard but it was really worth it. My team (and the company in general) was really international and I was able to work on a range of projects that put my marketing degree to the test. Tokyo was very different to home but more the reason to love it. I got to try lots of local Japanese food that we just don't get in the UK. I have to say that I’m completely in love with Japanese food now, and despite my failed attempt at making sushi again after our class in Tokyo, I’ve bought a new Japanese cookbook! Most Japanese people in Tokyo speak a little English, but despite the language barrier everyone was just so friendly and nice. I’m planning to visit Japan again with my family next year, and hopefully see the sakura season this time round!. PS (sorry for the VERY late review).

I joined the Beyond Academy program in January. With no work experience and having never travelled on my own it was a slightly scary prospect but I can safely say it was a great decision. I always wanted to go to Japan and being able to work and live there I thought would be beyond my reach with all the paperwork and trying to find a job and I had heard you need to know the language so part of my thought it was very unlikely I could actually work in Tokyo. So a huge thanks to my internship company who were amazing. I learnt so much professionally and personally throughout the 2 months in Tokyo. Thanks to Beyond who were always there for every step of the process and made it such an incredible experience from start to finish. I would like to thank Krystal who stayed in touch and guided me through right from the very first admission call to apply up until when I sadly had to leave Japan and it was great to even meet Krystal and some of the team at a few of the events. Krystal mentored me through the process and gave me some great tips. Overall, the program has allowed me to fulfill one of my lifelong dreams and helped me build my confidence (and some great experience for my CV). I would love to do it all over again especially now I have perfected my mochi making. I fell in love with Japan!

My internship in Tokyo has been the best experience of my life so far and I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment. I graduated a few years back and after working 3 years in an accounting firm, I realised that was not for me and I was hoping to start a fresh chapter in my career. I was placed in a really cool tech start-up based in Shibuya. The internship was hard work and I definitely had a steep learning curve. Despite that it was only a 6-week placement, the company involved me in quite a few different projects and I’ve learnt so much. I’ve also made some fantastic contacts in the meetups that Beyond Academy arranged. The events kept me busy during my time in Tokyo and I honestly loved all of them! My highlight was definitely the trip to Mt Fuji. It was nice to get out of the city and take in the incredible nature Japan has to offer. I had such a great time living like a local, and have made some fantastic friends. Aya, our community manager, is literally the most amazing person - she went out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. I’ve loved our little izakaya dinners every 2 weeks and I’m going to miss everyone so much :( Tokyo is the most magical place, if you are thinking of interning there do not hesitate. I’m already planning my next trip to Japan and would love to hopefully move over soon! Thank you so much Beyond - you guys have honestly changed my life!
