Some of the prevalent problems the local health care system is facing are teenage pregnancy, increasing levels of non-communicable diseases, and contagious diseases. Hospitals, however, do provide a range of services including emergency care, x-ray, laboratory, in-patient wards, OBGYN, pharmacy, ECG, dental, eye-care, and pre and post-op care. Thailand is an excellent place to undertake a medical internship, as you will observe how healthcare systems in developing countries can overcome many obstacles. The medical internship in Chiang Mai primarily involves shadowing and is, therefore, suitable for students of medicine, nursing, or healthcare.
