Program Highlights

The work of the volunteers is varied but may include digging foundations, mixing cement, building walls, constructing roofs, plastering, or putting the finishing coat of paint on a completed house.

The building work takes place early in the morning and late in the afternoon so you'll have plenty of time to get involved in township life.

The building project allows us to make long-term improvements in the local communities, whether by building a new classroom for school children or a new bedroom at an orphanage.

Whether you're a student on summer vacation, taking a gap year, or looking for a career break, if you want to get your hands dirty & see physical results volunteering abroad, this project may be ideal

Volunteers live with local families in the area.

In summer 2023 I was a volunteer in Tansania. It was the best I could do, I will never forget it. And I’m happy I did it with Projects Abroad. The preparation and organization was on top. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the host family’s meals were very delicious and the rooms clean. Furthermore the trips we did on weekends were super cool, my personal highlight was the waterfall at the Kilimanjaro. I can only recommend everyone to do this, it was life changing.

The construction techniques are simple to master and are ideal for sites with limited facilities. No electricity is required at the site and only minimal amounts of water and cement are necessary.
