Interning in Jamaica
January 14, 2023by: Carrie Nicholson - United KingdomProgram: Psychology Internships in Jamaica with Projects AbroadI enjoyed my time in Jamaica. Sanikia from Projects Abroad was always very friendly and responsive with queries. She also provided several very interesting cultural classes covering things like cooking (don't ever chop a scotch bonnet chilli without gloves on!), Patwa, and dancing. My host family were brilliant - very helpful and friendly. Great cooking from Mrs B! Spending time at each of the residential facilities was very interesting. The residents were lovely and very open during group therapy sessions. Observing the social work students was also a great experience. Getting around is either by walking or route taxis. I only made one longer distance trip which used a local coach company. I brought cash with me, but Projects Abroad covered any route taxis I needed to get to and from the residential facilities.
