Want to help others improve their English while you improve your Spanish? Join our exciting volunteer program in Spain! Most Spanish students start learning English at about ten years old, so your role mainly involves teaching conversational English. You'll receive assistance and guidance from the local teachers, especially with lesson preparation and content. Whilst there are typically five to fifteen students in a class, you usually have some say in the age group you teach but should maintain a flexible outlook. The students will learn so much from native speakers, including improved English language skills, which help to advance their lives and job opportunities. On the other hand, you'll find that teaching English is an extremely important and rewarding role. Together with other volunteers, you'll provide a valid and effective means of learning through: • Designing games to teach English, especially for younger children • Networking with local residents and local project staff Whilst not mandatory, completing a TEFL course prior to joining this project would prove to be highly beneficial.

Whether you’re a student on a gap year, a certified teacher, or simply a fluent English speaker looking to make a difference, teaching abroad is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute to global education while immersing yourself in fascinating cultures. In many developing regions, English proficiency opens the door to education, employment, and better economic opportunities. However, limited resources and teacher shortages often leave students without access to quality English education. By joining Volunteering Journeys’ teaching programs, you’ll help bridge this gap. You’ll work in local schools, community centers, or after-school programs — improving English literacy, conversational confidence, and cultural awareness.

Our long-term volunteering program offers a life-changing opportunity to work in nature—construct your own bioconstruction house, and produce food, energy, and income. In Rajasthan, girls from poor families often don't attend school. They have to help with housework, engage in labor, or assist their mothers with tending to their younger siblings. This is typically the case in communities far from the school, which would take some time to reach, thus forcing them to choose family duties instead. To cater to these less fortunate girls, a local NGO offers free education and vocational training to women and girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. The NGO is located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan's second-largest city, in the village of Setrawa in the Thar desert, some 100 km away. It primarily promotes women's empowerment, including educating children and women. At several empowerment centers in Jodhpur, girls and women aged 10 to 30 are taught reading and writing (Hindi and English), the basics of Mathematics, personality development, team building, and vocational skills such as sewing and embroidery.
