Top-Rated Volunteer Abroad Programs in Latin America

I came to Costa Rica on a volunteering trip with my university for eco-tourism learning. The farm that we volunteered at had us engaged with the work and really helped understand the work and somewhat the living of the people in the area. The places that we were lodged were great as they were comfortable but didn’t feel like some fancy hotel that was meant for tourists. The staff that accompanied us, Matt, was really helpful in translating and keeping us on schedule and informing us about the area. I think they did a great job of making this trip about learning was still involving fun activities that gave us a look at Costa Rica’s flora.

Working at Finca Guara was amazing. Our host was so friendly and welcoming. The work we did was meaningful. We learned so much about Costa Rican history and ecological efforts. I would love the opportunity to return and continue helping with construction on the farm.

My 19 year old college aged son and myself volunteered in San Jose. We did separate home stays and that was great becsuse we got to meet two separate families and meet more local people. Another great feature for us was that there is a little travel agency connected to Maximo Nivel and they were able to help us easily schedule a couple of fun outings to enjoy the nature of Costa Rica.
