A Guide to Internships Abroad in Birmingham

Lying smack-bang in the middle of England sits Birmingham, the second busiest city, and one to seriously consider if you’re looking for an internship in England. Over the last few years, Birmingham has grafted to renovate some of its old Victorian buildings and its plans for the foreseeable future are to create a city that mixes old and new beautifully. Stunning architecture, laidback locals, the birthplace of Cadbury’s (chocolate lovers, celebrate!) and more, your internship in Birmingham is going to be amazing!

What you need to know to intern in Birmingham

As on of the UK’s biggest cities, it’ not surprising that Birmingham’s list of possible internships is forever growing. You may be struggling to decide how long to intern for and which field is best. Talk through your options with your internship provider if you’re unsure.

Life in Birmingham for International Interns

Despite being England’s second largest city, Birmingham has a fairly low crime rate. Birmingham is home to multiple schools and universities and attracts students and graduates from all over the world, meaning your new life in Birmingham will be full of opportunities. International interns in Birmingham have many opportunities to meet like minded individuals and get involved with the local community. Keeping up-to-date with local community boards is a great way to find things to do in your spare time and see what the latest exciting evening going on is.

Birmingham is roughly 25% cheaper to live in than London, yet still boasts quirky cafes, restaurants, cinemas and more. It’s a great place to live if you still want that city life, without becoming bankrupt in a matter of days.

GoAbroad’s Inside Scoop for Interns in Birmingham

Due to its location, Birmingham is the perfect place to visit surrounding mid-country areas and the north and south of England incredibly easily. Visit the famous Bullring for amazing shops, markets, and restaurants. The people of Birmingham may be friendly, but that is no reason to slack off from work! Every city in England will provide its interns with great experience, but bosses don’t take lightly to passive workers. Give a lot of effort and you’ll be provided with a great experience.
