Working at the dog shelter was such a rewarding experience. Being able to help with construction and renovation projects while also spending time around the dogs made the experience even more special. I really enjoyed being hands-on, learning new things, and seeing the difference our work made for the shelter and the animals.

When was I planning for my next 40 years wanted to embark on a multicultural adventure that would bring me new sights, smells and experiences. After 2 weeks of consulting with other outfit programs decided to enroll in the Maximo volunteer, Spanish immersion, and mini adventure program. I had limited time to maximize my journey, and was a bit overwhelmed. After communicating with Travis and his onboarding team i was confident that i chose the right outfit for my personal journey. Their team made it very easy to customize my experience and answered all my questions with details and confirmations. I was very excited to embark on this adventure. This was my first solo international adventure and the Maximo team had the experience i wanted to work with. After landing in Cusco, i was taken care of by their travel team and taken straight to my guest house. after that i was invited to meet with Gabby (the big cheese) and got to see the international office while meeting the remainder of their team of 50. i was welcomed with open arms and introduced to Reese, the field manager who met with my for an hour to discuss the plan of action for the next two weeks. after that meeting i was excited to start my journey. I could go on and on about the client services and attention to detail that this team provided to me, and i am forever grateful to have been apart of a program that cares for its clients, community and the overall contribution to the world. My 2028 goal is to become TEFL certified and will be using MAXIMO NIVEL for that next adventure. ¨To realize ones destiny is a persons only obligation!¨

I had a great time over 2 weeks in Chengdu with LTL. Panpan is a great teacher who helped tailor the lessons according to my level and interests. She is very kind in explaining any confusion and corrects my mistakes in grammar and pronunciation. She also gives great suggestion of the activities and sightseeing spots around Chengdu. Ying laoshi helped me well with onboarding, and I was well accommodated upon arrival. Giulia and Alex also brought me around Chengdu after class to watch Sichuan opera and try local cuisine.

Being a part of the Sage Corps cohort on and after the trip has been such a valuable part of my personal and professional growth. With a diverse group of students from all around North America, you learn to navigate the challenges and successes of your job and develop cultural awareness. So grateful for my experience with Sage Corps.

My experience interning with Intern México was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Having previously interned abroad through a few different agencies, I can confidently say that none compared to how easy and seamless Intern México made the entire process or to the kindness and support of their staff. I was placed with an amazing international architecture firm where I had the opportunity to grow professionally, gain hands-on experience, and learn things that simply cannot be taught in a university classroom. Beyond my professional development, the experience also allowed me to grow personally while living and working in one of the most incredible cities in the world. I am extremely grateful for the experience, the people I met, and everything I learned during my time in México City.

During my time in Guatemala, I had an incredible and truly memorable experience. Every day brought something new to learn, and I felt genuinely welcomed by the people around me. The work was engaging and gave me the chance to grow both personally and professionally. I also formed friendships that made each moment fun and fulfilling. I embraced the local culture and learned so much from the community, which made the experience even more meaningful. Looking back, it was a period full of growth, laughter, and valuable insights. I am deeply grateful for everything I was able to learn and experience there.

I had such an amazing experience with gotoco in Thailand! The whole experience of teaching English to the children was so rewarding. They were so excited to learn and it was honestly so nice seeing how quickly we built a connection with them. I also met some amazing people and made some really good friends along the way. Outside of teaching, we got to experience so much of Thai culture, from cooking classes and exploring temples to night markets, boat trips and trying loads of amazing food. Everything was really well organised and I always felt supported throughout the programme. I’m genuinely so glad I decided to apply and got the chance to do something completely different. It was such a unique experience and I’d 100% recommend gotoco. I really hope I get to do another programme with them in the future!

Hi, I am Olivia, I am from Georgia in the United States and I study at the University of Georgia. I chose the medical internship because I am pre-nursing and I wanted to get an idea of the specialty and what I am going to get into. This internship has done an amazing job in exposing me to all the different kinds of medicine. I feel that the team has done a really good job at giving me all the information that I needed to know about getting around Athens, getting to work, and how to enjoy the city, which is really amazing. I enjoyed my time here. The culture and the people are very welcoming.

The course is very well structured & informative. I enjoyed being able to complete the tasks at my own pace and time. I really learned alot and can't wait to put my skills into practice in the real world.

I have really enjoyed the development of the curriculum throughout my MD studies. The subjects become increasingly connected to clinical medicine as you progress, and I find that this gives the material much more meaning. By third year, I can see how much the earlier scientific foundation has contributed to my understanding of more advanced topics.

This TEFL course is well-structured and highly practical. I have gained solid knowledge of the PPP lesson framework, classroom management strategies and age-appropriate activity design. Real teaching cases helped me understand how to adapt lessons for learners at different levels. The tutor gave clear guidance and timely feedback on my lesson plans. Before the course, I felt nervous about English teaching. Now I can design complete lessons confidently and use effective interaction skills to engage students. It bridges teaching theory and real classroom practice. This course greatly improves my teaching competence and builds up my confidence as an English educator. I would strongly recommend it to anyone planning to teach English.

I stayed two months at the Excellence Center between June and July, which was perfect timing between large cohorts. Everybody who works at the center is lovely. Rafat is welcoming, friendly, and diplomatic, and does everything to help volunteers enjoy their experience and for refugees and migrants to settle safely. Doushan handles background operations, and is a hilarious, cheerful person. It's truly a pleasure when he joins everyone for lunch or subs in for Rafat. Muaz was my Arabic teacher and helps to run just about everything in the Center. He's a well-known figure in the local community thanks to providing free translation help for refugees and migrants between German, Arabic, and English, and supports legislative change for anti-racism in Halle. He introduced me to some wonderful, kind people who became good friends, and was a phenomenal Arabic teacher. I arrived with a bare knowledge of the alphabet, and Muaz taught me everything until I passed the A2 level in about 5 weeks. I enjoyed teaching English so much, though I loved my Arabic classes more. I taught three students from ages 8 to 30 with varying English proficiency. A lot of people are intimidated by choosing what to teach and how, but I liked making up lessons and games for my students. My advice is to use lots of color-coding, prioritize conversation (at the correct level), and try to enjoy the experience. People learn best when they're connecting with you, rather than being lectured. The accommodations are nice enough for a short stay or an able bodied person, but they get somewhat cramped during July and August, when the majority of people visit. I recommend spending at least a month at the Center if you're able to, though I truly wanted upwards of three months. We went on trips to Leipzig, Berlin, or nearby cities, toured Halle, had picnics, and spent a day with a class of international art students. A local Syrian gentleman taught us basics of violin, Rafat taught us how to cook some Palestinian, Syrian, or Saudi Arabian meals, and another friend tried teaching us Dabke (traditional Palestinian dance). You'll spend a lot of time outside in Halle, and hopefully a lot of time meeting new people. Give this experience as much as you can (and go see Muaz's concerts!) (Doushan, if you're seeing this, hello! I did the review! Sorry it took so long!!!!)

The programme has helped me become much more independent with my learning. I have learned how to organise my time, work through difficult material and take responsibility for understanding topics properly. That has been one of the most valuable things I have taken from my experience at NAU.

The pre-departure support given was very adequate and I felt very reassured despite me traveling by myself for the first time. Sign up was easy and I definitely recommend volunteering with IVHQ. Staff were very helpful too.

I volunteered at Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre for two weeks in July, and it was an experience I will never forget. I never knew conservation opportunities like this existed until a former staff member referred me during my stay in South Africa the previous year. Initially, choosing which project I wanted to do seemed difficult, as they all approach conservation slightly differently, and I was restricted to two weeks. African Conservation Experience (ACE) provided detailed information and advice based on what I wanted from the experience, and any questions or concerns I had were answered. This all led to me picking Moholoholo, which was definitely the right choice for me, so I am very grateful for the discussions we had about this. As my first time travelling solo, ACE made this a very relaxed and stress-free process. We were met at the airport by two members of the South African ACE team, who helped volunteers get anything they needed from the airport, such as SIM cards. They gave us a free meal upon arrival and also made sure we made it to the next part of our travels, whether that was another flight or a car journey. This was very helpful and saved a lot of time! My experience at Moholoholo was very eye-opening to the efforts that go into conservation. From tending to the animals permanently in the sanctuary daily (due to a variety of reasons, meaning they were unable to be released) to learning about and helping animals that were being rehabilitated to eventually be released in the wild, each scenario was different and very interesting. Hearing the stories of the individual animals and the history of the rehab showcased the dedication this place has to wildlife conservation, and it was great to be a part of that. The staff at the centre were also really kind and welcoming. During my time on the project, ACE also contacted me to check how I was getting on whilst there and if I had any problems, which was really appreciated. ACE overall made this experience very easy and stress-free, and I will be using them again. I can’t wait to be back soon!

Hi, my name is Tyler, I am from London and I go to the University of Bristol. I study English and Philosophy for my BA and I chose to do this program because I really enjoy arts and cultural heritage. Being in Athens is very fun for me because I am very interested in ancient philosophy. So, seeing all the different sites has been really fun for me.

It has been a few weeks since I came home from my incredible experience at the Golola Rhino Orphanage and Rehabilitation Centre. I think about my experience every day, and feel my heart warm at all the memories and experiences I have gained. One of the biggest dreams of my life has been to volunteer with animals; it’s something I’ve longed for as long as I can remember. I finally decided to go, and I was a bit scared at first. What if it isn’t what I have dreamed of? Have I built too many expectations over the years that they will be impossible to reach? Little did I know, it would be everything I had dreamed of and more. I researched a few organisations before I found African Conservation Experience (ACE) and immediately felt like this was the real deal. For me, the most important part was to find an organisation that values the welfare and care of the animals. After speaking with ACE, I felt safe and secure in their intentions. ACE recommended and told me about Golola, and I was sold. I had never thought of volunteering specifically with rhinos, but I am so, so glad that I did. The team at Golola was incredible. I truly admire the time, love, and care they give to these wonderful animals. I will never forget my first morning there, walking around some sheds and boom, there are rhinos in the sunrise grazing for food. It felt like magic. Like this was something out of a fantasy, something that wasn’t real. The quiet, the sunrise, the rhinos. How is it that I am actually here and experiencing this? Every morning thereafter I just took a minute or so, looked at the rhinos in the sunrise and felt incredibly lucky. It really was magic. Golola takes care of other animals in need as well. When I was at the centre, they had some tortoises, an owl and a sable calf. During my stay, there was a rhino calf that I got to bottle-feed and see grow, which was truly amazing. Feeding the camp animals and the rhinos on the reserve was an incredible experience. Driving out in the reserve was idyllic. Seeing rhinos, both adults and calves, including a one-week-old newborn, living their lives, free across the plains surrounded by wildebeest, giraffes, zebras and (a lot of) warthogs is an image that I never want to forget. As a volunteer, we got to learn about rhinos, in the sense of how they are as animals, their behaviours and personalities. However, we also learned about the gruelling reality of these animals disappearing one by one, just because of a horn that is made of the same material as a human's hair or nails. These educational talks and videos were shattering and difficult to digest, but necessary to understand the importance of the work there. It breaks your heart to learn what some rhinos, including many of the rhinos at Golola, have had to witness. The sadness is overwhelming and heavy, but so is the anger and frustration. It lights a fire in you to try and protect these animals. But in the heaviness there is also hope. There is a fire in every single person at Golola, and they do everything they can to make sure the rhinos are safe and living their best life. That gives me hope. Going on this journey was one of the best things I have ever done. My dream was fulfilled and my life altered. I hope and wish to come back and experience the magic once again.

Hi, my name is Scott, I am from Zanesville, Ohio, in the U.S. I am currently twenty years old and in my second year at Ohio University studying Mechanical Engineering. I chose Cerca because through my university I am required to gain some international experience during my time in college, so I went online and found it, and the engineering program through Cerca seemed very appealing to me. It seemed relevant and practical to me and it just seemed—honestly—kind of scary to live somewhere new compared to where I am familiar, which was exactly why I wanted to do it. Through Cerca I was put in the Automotive Lane at the International Hellenic University here in Sindos in Thessaloniki, Greece. I’ve been mostly working with an aerial drone here; I’ve done three different projects. Firstly, we tried to make the drone fly in an exact pathway; we attached a temperature sensor to it to measure the temperatures in its path. After that we used a proximity sensor to make the drone navigate through obstacles using built-in WIFI, which we struggled with unfortunately, and we haven’t been able to complete yet. As a final project we tried measuring the sound of the drone using noise-cancelling technology to try and set up a future intern with the resources to develop some technology to make the drone quieter as it operates. Here in Thessaloniki you will never run out of things to do. I really like it because everyone is friendly here. It seems unfamiliar at first, but it won’t stay that way for long. Even the coffee shop that I got to know better—there’s something for everyone. Like I’ve said, I mean there are beaches, museums, it’s a great place to go running, there are nightclubs—anything you want is here. We even went bowling. The food is fantastic. It’s almost never super processed so it always tastes very good compared to American food in a lot of cases. Not to mention it’s really cheap. The people are great. I am getting to know even people at the university. Some of the workers in the dining hall are always very friendly. They play music and there’s always a smile on their face. Even in our department we’ve had a couple of events like a barbeque; we got together, it was a lot of fun and we got a lot closer than some groups in America do. So, it’s really friendly here. It’s a great place to be.

Osaka was much fun and the staff at Meiji definitely contributed to it. The lessons were focused on communicative Japanese with separate classes where we cracked through the grammar and Kanji writings. Vocabs took quite a bit of time but the teachers were very patient and had good revision lessons at the beginning of the lectures. Events were the best bit and the local exchanges with Japanese students and Takoyaki bar hoppings were fun too. Will be back in Osaka for sure!
