Great Experience

July 26, 2026by: Mikayla McInnis - United States

My time teaching in Thailand was a blessing and I will never forget it. Though I may never go back to Thailand to teacher I am glad I got the opportunity to do so. My accommodation was not the cleanest. There were many ants, spiders, and lizards. The electricity went out twice and came back on after 5 minutes. I did have to switch rooms because there was a loud constant noise above my head for over a week for me to then find out my water heater was broken in my first room. If you can get an apartment or condo, I would definitely suggest that over a hotel for 6 weeks.

The course was overall covered the basics of what a teaching job is like in another country like Thailand however a big factor which is behaviour management was not covered as much which is a very big factor in how well the teaching experience is.

Moving abroad was a really bold move for me, and I truly appreciate the support and guidance we received from Xplore. They gave us all the information anyone could possibly need for such a huge leap. This journey has been enjoyable—definitely not without its challenges—but I’ve learned to trust myself more. I’m constantly learning and finding new ways to improve my experience.

I decided on XploreAsia because it was recommended to me by 2 friends who had an amazing experience… and boy am I glad I trusted their recommendation! Xplore was so amazing in helping me prepare for this experience both before arrival and during the TEFL course. The information they provided before arrival included so much detail and step by step directions which helped eased any stress I had about moving across the world. The staff were so incredibly supportive in helping us to set up and feel prepared. Even after being a few months into the teaching I still feel like I have Xplore in my corner and can reach out if there’s anything I need. I had the most AMAZING people in my 1 month orientation and course. They will easily be friends for life and memories that I will always treasure. I would 100% recommend XploreAsia to anyone looking to teach and travel abroad!

I am proud to say that my decision to enroll with XploreAsia represents one of the best decisions I have made thus far in my teaching career. By combining in-class experience with worthwhile TESOL knowledge, I was not only able to fill in holes that have been ever present within my earlier years of teaching, I was able to form strong connections and discover aspects of myself that I never even knew existed.

An Unforgettable Teaching Adventure with Xplore Asia

December 05, 2025by: Basak Uguz Barcin - Turkey

My teaching placement in Thailand through Xplore Asia has been, without exaggeration, one of the most unforgettable and transformative experiences of my entire life. And this is coming from someone who has been involved in multiple international programs before, Erasmus exchanges, study-abroad opportunities, and Work & Travel in the U.S. I thought I had seen it all. But Xplore Asia completely reset the bar. From the very first day, their professionalism was on a level I had never encountered before. The orientation week was exceptional, so engaging, so well-structured, and honestly so much fun that I still talk to the friends I made there every single week. The bonding, the workshops, the atmosphere… it felt like being part of something truly special. I expected things to be organized; what I didn’t expect was for everything to run perfectly smoothly, with zero stress. Every step of the process, from communication to paperwork to placement, was handled with such precision and care that I felt supported from beginning to end. I was placed in Hat Yai, and I genuinely loved the city. Then something absolutely unimaginable happened: a 300-year flood hit the region. A once-in-centuries event. Despite the chaos, Xplore Asia stayed in constant contact with me and my partner, checked on us, guided us through everything, and made sure we were safe and supported. Their dedication during such an unpredictable situation meant the world to me. Looking back now, Xplore Asia didn’t just give me a placement abroad. They gave me confidence, unforgettable memories, and friendships that will last for years. They gave me a journey I will carry with me forever. I am genuinely grateful for every part of this experience, and I recommend Xplore Asia with all my heart.

My Xplore Thailand Story — The Leap I Took After Losing Everything

December 05, 2025by: DavRicia Hughes - United States

My world fell apart in a way I never anticipated before Thailand ever became a dream. People often think it's brave to move abroad, but in reality, I left because my heart was slowly breaking. My dog Titus, my shadow, my emotional support system, and my lifelong best friend, was the first to pass away. His death was brutal and unexpected. He was there one second and gone the next. I was not given a proper farewell. I didn't receive another embrace, another drowsy morning, or another comforting paw thump. Losing a pet like him can cause significant grief. It's deep down. For a while, I believed that to be the worst thing life could do to me. I misjudged. One of my closest friends, Jeremy Lee Spears, who struggled silently and painfully with life's burdens, passed away shortly after Titus. I had no idea that something inside of me could shatter again so quickly when he passed away. I kept thinking about what I could have done, said, or been more as I read through previous messages and replayed our conversations. I learned from that loss that even those who laugh the loudest can be vulnerable. Then, a few weeks before I was scheduled to depart for Thailand, my Uncle JR passed away. My family was thrown into a grieving spiral by the shock, the injustice, and the timing. And there I was, trying to keep my composure while packing my bags and wondering: "How do I go now? How can I relocate across the globe while my family is in pain? When does my pain persist? I regretted going. I'm sorry I want to start over. I felt bad for attempting to breathe when it seemed like the world was depriving me of oxygen. I wasn't prepared to leave, to be honest. I had not prepared for Thailand. Nothing was ready for me. However, I was aware that if I didn't take this step, I might never do so. So I left with three heavy, unsaid losses in my luggage. ⁻ Thailand gave me a place to live through my grief, but it didn't make it go away. After months of darkness, training with Xplore in Hua Hin was like entering the light. At night, I still sobbed. I was still thinking about my uncle, missing Jeremy, and missing Titus when I woke up. However, something about Thailand—the people, the cuisine, the warmth, the pace of life—started to soften the jagged edges of my melancholy. And when I first arrived at my school in Ayutthaya, unprepared, overburdened, and thrown into the middle of the semester... I had no idea that those kids would ultimately save my life. They were unaware of my weight. They were unaware of the sorrow concealed by my smile. They were unaware of my feelings of fragility. However, I looked forward to their "Hello teacher!" every morning, their giggles during games, their shy moments, and their small English victories. Something distinct from my suffering. Each lesson plan I created represented progress. A tiny piece of my heart was being put back together by every student who grinned. Even when I was exhausted or overburdened, every day I showed up demonstrated my ability to persevere. I was able to rebuild myself from the ground up in Thailand. The unexpected—street markets, train rides, sunset temples, children yelling "Teacher! Teacher!" across the courtyard, Ayutthaya's chaos and beauty—was where I found moments of tranquility. I wasn't drowning for the first time in a long time. I wasn't trapped. Even though I was healing slowly, quietly, and imperfectly, I was still getting better. Not only did I teach. I discovered that hope and grief can coexist in the same body, that abandoning love doesn't mean leaving home, that you can choose to grow even after being broken, that sometimes the only way to survive is to start over. What I lost was not replaced in Thailand. However, it motivated me to continue. Let my story serve as evidence for anyone hesitant to take such a risk: To start, you don't need to be alright. It's sometimes the beginning that makes things better. Not only did Xplore assist me in teaching overseas. They assisted me in regaining my identity.

My experience with XploreAsia has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the team demonstrated a high level of professionalism and a genuine commitment to supporting new teachers in Thailand. They provided clear information, timely communication, and detailed guidance at every stage of the placement process, which made relocating and preparing for work so much easier. What stands out most about XploreAsia is how caring and attentive they are. They understand the challenges that foreign teachers may face, and they go out of their way to make sure you feel confident and well-prepared. Whether it was helping with documents, offering cultural insights, or answering last-minute questions, their staff were always patient, friendly, and encouraging. Their training programs are informative and practical, giving teachers the tools they need to succeed in real classrooms. The support doesn’t end after placement either. XploreAsia maintains a strong alumni network where past participants share experiences, offer advice, and stay connected. This sense of community is incredibly valuable, especially for those adjusting to a new country. Overall, XploreAsia is a trustworthy and dedicated placement agency. I highly recommend them to anyone considering teaching in Thailand. Their professionalism and genuine care truly set them apart.

Bravest decision of my life

In October 2025, I took a leap of faith and moved abroad in hopes of starting my teaching career as an ESL teacher in Thailand. It was my first time outside of my home country alone, first international flight. Needless to say that when I arrived, I experienced many firsts that were sometimes daunting and overwhelming. A few places that felt like home kept me same, such as KFC and Starbucks franchises. But the biggest support system has been the Xplore Asia team. Their willingness to assist around the clock and their genuine desire to help made me feel comfortable with asking questions and to not feel lost and in the dark, which may result in me regretting my big move across the world.

An Overall Okay TEFL Experience

December 04, 2025by: Telia Gaudet - Canada

Overall, the TEFL course was okay – I did learn some useful things and the content itself was generally fine. However, there were a few issues that affected my experience, such as some miscommunication and extra costs that I hadn’t clearly understood from the beginning, which made the process feel not always transparent. At times, the organization of the course (scheduling, information, and follow-up) also felt a bit unstructured. I still completed the course and got value from it, but I think there is room for improvement in clarity and organization.

Finding Community, Purpose, and a Career Through Xplore

I completed my TESOL course and teaching placement in Thailand with Xplore in 2021, right after I graduated undergra, and it remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I taught K1 in Bangkok during a complicated time, the tail end of COVID restrictions, but the Xplore team offered consistent reassurance, clear guidance, and incredible support from the moment I arrived. Even with the uncertainty of that period, I always felt fully taken care of. My teaching placement was incredibly rewarding. Working with young learners in Bangkok pushed me to grow both personally and professionally, and Xplore made sure I had the tools, training, and confidence I needed to succeed in the classroom. Outside of school, I explored Bangkok and traveled around Thailand on the weekends, including unforgettable trips to places like Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and the southern islands. One of the biggest highlights was the community I found. I met so many amazing people through Xplore, people I am still close friends with years later. The program builds such a strong sense of belonging that even now, years later, I still feel like part of the Xplore community. Xplore had such a positive impact on me that I even returned to Thailand a year after I finished my contract. This time, I worked in Chiang Mai with an international sustainable development program, helping other students come to Thailand and have the same kind of transformative experiences that shaped my own journey. My time with Xplore opened the door to a career in international education and inspired me to give back to the next generation of study abroad learners. If you’re considering teaching in Thailand, especially if you’re nervous or unsure, Xplore is absolutely the right choice. Their staff, structure, and community made my time abroad truly life-changing. I can’t recommend them enough.

Traveling to Thailand to teach has been such an amazing experience. It is my first time traveling abroad so I started off a little bit nervous, but everyone here is so kind and welcoming. Unexpected Thai Experience

During my TESOL course was a wonderful fun experience. I got to meet to wonderful people that I may have never gotten the opportunity to meet and become friends with. The month I spent doing my course was eye opener. Being able to enhance my teaching experience from I have learned and done before. Being immersed into the culture from the beginning was truly a great time. Having instructors who truly understand the culture and help you to be successful adopting and opening our mind to the true experience was so important to making sure that we become successful teachers once we step into the classrooom.

I love experiencing Thailand

My experience with XploreAsia has been amazing so far. My placement is in a small, easy-to-navigate environment, and I absolutely love my school. I won’t lie — at first it was definitely a culture shock, and adjusting was challenging. I had moments of homesickness and even a few tears. But being here has been such a meaningful and rewarding experience, and I’m so glad I chose to do this. Living and teaching in Thailand has helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. I love the people, the culture, and the lifestyle so much that I’ve already decided I’ll be staying longer than I originally planned. Thailand truly feels so free!!

Xplore Asia has been a fun journey. The course was fun and the instructor very helpful. The administration and transparency of costs needs to be taken into account when doing the course for a month. The placement and visa team are lovely and very helpful. They really care about what school you go to and getting the visa you need in a short amount of time. The Thai staff really make the course amazing, as they look after you and want you to have a fantastic time. The effort the staff make to assist you when there could be a possible problem or concern is something I have not experienced before.

XploreAsia go the extra mile in assisting with as much as they can as you embark on your teaching journey - before, during and after the completion of your course. The staff are patient and professional, readily available post graduation, and will make your transition as seamless as possible. I've been teaching in Surat Thani for seven months now and have found that the TESOL Level 5 content that was taught during my time with XploreAsia to be absolutely foundational - especially as a new teacher! Their passion for Thai culture was also palpable throughout the month spent in Hua Hin and certainly rubbed off on our group, greatly enhancing our experience and respect for our new environment. I cannot recommend them enough.

Still having the time of my life

When I left London to live and teach in Chiang Rai I honestly had no idea what to expect, but XploreAsia was there with me every step of the way. I spent two amazing years in the mountains and now a year in Bangkok, and I have always felt completely supported. They reply quickly, check in often, and organize meetups so I never feel alone. Moving somewhere where you do not know the language can feel overwhelming, but they make everything so much easier. Once you get your school, XploreAsia connects you with other teachers and the management team so you can get the right support to find housing and settle in comfortably. They also give a clear idea of the area, what it is like, fun things to do, and if any other teachers live nearby, which makes settling in much easier and less stressful. I really enjoy taking part in cultural experiences and celebrating local festivals every year. The XploreAsia Alumni group on Line keeps you updated on cultural differences, events, celebrations, and even safety alerts like earthquakes. I am still here with no plans of leaving, and I know whenever I want to move or try something new I will reach out to them without hesitation because they will always have my back.

Here’s a fun, exciting review under 200 words based on what you shared. Feel free to tell me if you'd like it more formal, more emotional, or shorter: --- My TESOL course in Thailand was honestly one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. The first week was orientation, and it was *wild* in the best way — Muay Thai training, wandering through vibrant local markets, cooking real Thai food with one of our instructor’s moms, plus learning Thai language and even watching a Thai movie. I met so many incredible people that week alone and felt completely immersed from day one. The next three weeks were hands-on training in a local Thai school, and it was intense but in the most rewarding way. We practiced teaching with each other and spent two full days teaching primary students — my heart was so full I could’ve burst. I’ve traveled a lot, but I’ve never had an experience so warm and life-changing. The friendships I made feel like they’ll last forever. XploreAsia was amazing throughout the whole process. They prepared us so well, found my placement school, supported my visa, and were always there when we needed help. This opportunity was fantastic, and I can’t thank XploreAsia enough for making it possible.
