The TEFL Academy

I have been self studying towards the Level 5 TEFL course for six months. I found the units and materials well arranged and motivating. I liked having the opportunity to develop my learning by accessing resources and websites provided by the TEFL Academy within the course. I found the extra reading and resources quite inspiring. I thought also that many of the videos were an inspirational way to share classroom activities and environments with prospective teachers.

Completing the TEFL Level 5 program was a transformative, albeit demanding, journey that felt more like a professional apprenticeship than a simple online course. From my perspective, the experience was defined by a steep but rewarding learning curve; moving from basic conversational English into the "science" of phonology and advanced grammar required a level of focus I hadn't expected. The three core assignments were the true "trial by fire," forcing me to move past theory and actually design cohesive, 60-minute lesson plans that accounted for everything from classroom seating arrangements to potential student "antidotes" for common language errors. While the sheer volume of content—often spanning 168 to 200 hours—initially felt overwhelming, the shift in my confidence was palpable by the final module. The feedback from tutors wasn't just a "pass/fail" check; it was a deep dive into my teaching logic, often challenging me to be more student-centered and less reliant on lecturing. Although the time commitment was significant, balancing it with a full-time schedule was manageable thanks to the self-paced structure. Ultimately, finishing the program left me feeling less like a traveler looking for a job and more like a prepared educator ready to step into a competitive international classroom.

I found the experience to be interesting- there is a lot of information to take in- multiple resources - and the theory is great but teaching is o practical and sensory skill and I look forward to learning through experience
