Life-Changing Study Abroad Experience

Program: SIT Study Abroad: Tanzania: Zanzibar Coastal Ecology
SIT Zanzibar is the perfect study abroad program for students looking to experience a completely different culture and way of life, all while seeing the best nature of your life. Some of the highlights of my experience include swimming with dolphins, exploring the amazing creatures of intertidal zones across the island, being welcomed into a Swahili home, and conducting a month-long research project on Chumbe Island! Moreover, the academic director and staff of the program are wonderful and will go to any length to ensure students are safe, happy, and engaged. I would choose SIT Zanzibar again in a heartbeat.

Suzanna and the staff provide an incredibly welcoming, open and friendly environment to pupils, families, volunteers and the community at large. They really work in collaboration with the community and create fun, accessible and engaging learning opportunities for all.

Program: Spanish Learning Program
The program is multi-pronged: Language, Volunteer opportunities, Cultural experiences. I did not volunteer because I am in my 70’s and no longer have the energy to volunteer 4 hours a day and take Spanish class every day. I took Spanish lessons for two weeks and the focus was on pronunciation. I know I am improving because the Uber drivers, and store clerks understand me now! My teacher was Sandrita. An accomplished, sweet, patient person. The cooking class that 4 of us took was excellent , a great way to practice Spanish, and lots of fun. When I return in two years I plan to contact the Fundación again.

Program: Internships in Madrid, Spain
This was one of the best experiences of my life. Not only is Madrid itself one of the best cities in the world, but the internship experience was one of the best intern/company experiences I've had. My fellow interns, coworkers, and managers were some of the best people to work with and were always a reliable source to go to when I needed help or had questions. The apartment itself was also very well kept and clean. The only downside was that the stovetop had a burner that did not function, but all other appliances that you could need were provided in both kitchen and room. Overall, the internship and life experience provided me with some of the best times of my life, and the people I met and worked with are some people that I hope to keep in contact with for long after this internship.

Program: Learn Mandarin in China - Private Courses with XMandarin
truly appreciate studying at XMandarin in Qingdao! The teachers and staff are wonderful. Balancing private classes with small group sessions has been the perfect way to fast-track my Mandarin. The personalized attention combined with social interaction makes learning both effective and fun. I couldn't ask for a better environment to immerse myself in Chinese culture!"

Program: Global MA in Climate Change & Global Sustainability
SIT’s experimental learning model, quality educators, and the cultural immersion are a perfect blend for a meaningful and rewarding experience!! From beautiful nature, to delicious local foods (I still think about you Zanzibar), the program has left a lasting impression on me! The academic side pushes you to be your best, with unique deliverables for each unit, and a chance to bond with your close-knit cohort. The capstone project to end the year is especially important, seeing the culmination of everyone’s personal progress through different programs was informative and inspiring!!

An Incredible Life Experience

Program: SIT Study Abroad: South Africa: International Relations
The SIT program in Durban has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life! One of the greatest gifts of this program is that it would be impossible to recreate on your own or with any other company. The opportunity to meet with so many local people in Durban working to make change, attend book talks/lectures by a variety of professors, hear the experiences of local people working to make change post-apartheid, and about their experiences during apartheid, and living in home-stays is only possible through this SIT program. From day one, the cohort felt like a family, and learning from Dr. Buccus a privilege. The program offers safety, diversity in experience and excursions, fosters community between students, and was responsive to the individual passions and interests that each of us brought. I truly cannot overstate my gratitude towards the staff of SIT for offering such a well-rounded, academically rigorous, and culturally immersive program.

Learning is Fun and Conveniant!
April 14, 2026Erika Small - United StatesI have really enjoyed my learning experience with Silk Mandarin. I did this program from home in the United States. If you are frustrated with outdated learning models like I was try Silk Mandarin. When I first started to learn I was curious about the language and culture. I was learning for personal enrichment and to be able to travel to China one day. I picked a teacher here in the United States who used a text book that was very old. Also, it was about college students only and I found the conversations boring. Additionally, if I got a tone wrong or mispronounced a word more than once I was told to study more and I started to feel bad and didn’t want to go anymore. Then I saw a casual conversation on Instagram from Silk Manderin advertising language learning. The people were diverse and were having a normal fun conversation. That was over two years ago now. I love meeting with my teacher as she is cheerful and fun. She encourages me to do better without making me feel bad. I am finally able to read and understand basic things. I can even write some characters. I can practice with the online platform and I find it modern with a variety of conversations. I can really enjoy learning the language. I believe we should all try to learn about different cultures.
Everything was as stated on their website
April 13, 2026Neil Mann - United KingdomProvider: IntrepidTEFL
I got this from a Google search and figured I was maybe taking a chance, but it turned out very well. I think their website doesnt actually do their course justice. The course is superb and staff actually respond very quickly, which I hadn't figured on for the price, but they need to add more to their website to mirror their content. It's a bargain - don't be put off by their minimal style!

So grateful for this opportunity, without BucaraVolunTours it would not have been possible to work with these incredible foundations and meet so many amazing people. Definitely left a long lasting impact on me. Thank you so much for everything!
