An Unforgettable Experience in Bali More Than Just an Internship! 🇮🇩

Some experiences stay with you long after they come to an end, and my time in Bali was definitely one of them. I had the opportunity to spend five weeks in Bali, completing my internship at Made Tea in Ubud, and honestly, it turned out to be so much more than I expected. From the beginning, I felt welcomed and appreciated. Working with Made Tea gave me the opportunity to discover a different professional environment, develop my communication and digital marketing skills, work on creative projects, and gain valuable hands-on experience. I had the chance to create content, work on social media, communicate with potential business partners and contribute to real projects. It was rewarding to see that my ideas and work were genuinely valued. One of the highlights was definitely the people. I am especially grateful to my supervisor, Roni, for her kindness, trust, guidance and patience throughout my internship. Being surrounded by such welcoming people made the experience even more special. And then there was Bali itself! 🌺 Living and working in Ubud allowed me to discover a completely different culture, meet people from different backgrounds, experience the local lifestyle and create memories I will always cherish. Every day brought something new, whether it was discovering beautiful places, trying new food, learning about local traditions or simply enjoying the atmosphere. What I appreciated most was the balance between professional development and personal discovery. I didn’t just gain experience to add to my CV; I also became more independent, confident, adaptable and open-minded. If you are considering an internship abroad, I would genuinely encourage you to take the opportunity. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You might arrive expecting to gain professional experience, but leave with new skills, wonderful connections and memories that will stay with you forever. Thank you, Made Tea, and Bali, for five unforgettable weeks. A little piece of my heart will always remain in Indonesia. ❤️ Sometimes the best experiences are the ones you never fully expect.

A once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so glad I chose Intern Abroad HQ

The staff was amazing! I was nervous going into the program as I have never traveled abroad before, but I adapted very quickly due to the support InternAbroad HQ provided me with. A once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so glad I chose them! P.S. Valencia, Spain stole my heart.

I absolutely loved my placement in San Ignacio, Belize.

I absolutely loved my placement in San Ignacio, Belize. Me and my friend worked on an eco park farm for the veterinary internship, and lived with the family that owns it. They were so welcoming and generous with all they had. I felt like a part of the family. They love their animals and have huge hearts for what they do, it’s very obvious! I was extremely happy with my experience, I give the family a 10/10 for everything. Overall amazing experience!

A seamless, stress-free Tokyo business internship with Intern Abroad HQ

I recently completed a five-week Business Development internship in Tokyo, and Intern Abroad HQ made the entire journey incredibly smooth from start to finish. Their pre-departure support, clear communication, and application coordination took all the stress out of planning a trip overseas. The team was always responsive to my logistical questions and ensured I was fully prepared before arriving in Japan. It was a brilliant way to gain commercial experience to complement my engineering studies. Highly recommend their platform for anyone looking to intern abroad without the usual stress that would accompany it! Stepping out of my comfort zone as a UK Chemical Engineering student to take on a 5-week business development internship in Tokyo was one of the most rewarding decisions of my university life. I wanted an experience that would challenge me commercially while immersing me in a completely new culture, and this program delivered on every front. I was placed with an amazing host organization, where I was trusted with real responsibility from day one. My role focused on building financial ROI models and conducting client outreach. One of the most unique and valuable challenges was navigating the workplace language barrier where only my boss spoke English, meaning that whenever he was out of the office, I had to communicate with my Japanese colleagues using translation tools. To respect their time and keep workflows smooth, I learned to anticipate their follow-up questions and prepare translated troubleshooting trees in advance. It taught me a massive amount about adaptability, cross-cultural communication, and proactive problem-solving. A huge part of why this placement ran so smoothly was the local coordination. A special shoutout to the Tokyo coordinators, whose support with logistics and settling into Tokyo life was second to none. Knowing there was a dedicated, responsive local team backing me up made navigating a massive metropolis like Tokyo feel effortless rather than overwhelming. What made this trip truly iconic was how much I was able to pack into my time outside of work. Because the placement logistics were so well-organized, I was even able to maintain my competitive swimming and gym training schedule at the near by Tokyo Aquatic Centre. On weekends and after work, I explored everything from independent attractions in Tokyo and relaxing to traveling across Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, and even summiting Mount Fuji! I can't talk about Japan without talking about the people. The Japanese reputation of being the nicest people in the world is no overstatement. I had dropped my AirPods half way up Mt. Fuji and a local had arranged for them to be shipped back to my accommodation in Tokyo before I had even noticed they were missing! I would recommend future interns embrace the communication barrier. Don't be afraid if your host company isn't 100% English-speaking. Over-prepare your questions, be patient, and show initiative, your colleagues will hugely respect the effort. Say yes to everything outside of 9-to-5. Plan your weekends early. Japan's rail network makes it incredibly easy to go from a Friday afternoon at the office in Tokyo to climbing Mount Fuji or exploring temples in Kyoto by Saturday morning. If you are on the fence about taking the leap to intern abroad in Japan, do it. You will walk away with sharp commercial skills, lifelong memories, and the confidence that you can thrive anywhere in the world.

Awesome pre-departure support from my personal Program Manager

Personally, the Information Technology internship in Japan provided me with the confidence to ask more questions during employment and ask for support. I enjoyed chatting with other interns, making plans to travel across the country, and meeting with fellow coworkers asking how life was in Japan. The pre-departure support that I received from my Program Manager was very helpful as there were very clear instructions on writing up cover letter and resume for the Japan internship; this was very reassuring.

This internship helped me immensely.

This internship helped me immensely. Since I am graduating college soon, I have been wanting to gain experience in different environmental science fields and this internship was able to help me. I was able to learn so much about the law and policy side of environmental science as well as the desk job side rather than field work. This internship also helped me grow on a personal level and I was able to leave with a stronger professional network and many friends from around the globe.

An experience I would recommend to anyone

Having the opportunity to spend three months in Auckland, New Zealand was very memorable and formative! Both adventure and obstacle influenced my growth, validating and shifting perspectives I had of myself and the country around me. Combining travel with an internship is an experience I would recommend to anyone, as you get to learn through a professional and multicultural lens while also pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone and meeting new people. I’ll forever be grateful for the experiences and self-reflection I gained in the beautiful country of New Zealand!

Intern Abroad HQ is the BEST!

This is my second internship experience with Intern Abroad HQ (I completed an internship with them in South Africa last year) - my second experience was as excellent and seamless as the first one! I will definitely continue to intern with this organisation in the future (and I'm going to do an internship in New Zealand in 2027 again with Intern Abroad HQ)! I have so much more confidence now returning to my university studies this fall. I LOVED my host mom in Valencia! She is such a kind and wonderful woman and I felt so loved and cared for while staying with her.

Some of the best moments of my life

I enjoyed going on the surveys and getting closer to the other interns there it was actually some of the best moments of my life. It was a good way to get a look into different cultures as we were sharing rooms with people all over the world. The surveys also definitely helped my field skills a lot

I most enjoyed the connections I made

My internship provided me with a new experience in psychology that provided me a different outlook on how it is done in other cultures. I most enjoyed the connections I made with the clients and other interns. I also was able to explore the culture outside of the internship and learn about how this impacted mental health. I think this internship made me strengthen skills necessary for my personal and professional development.

How my Youth Development & Education in Japan Shaped My Journey Toward Medical School

Karen (my Program Manager at Intern Abroad HQ) was amazing and supported me throughout this entire process. My favorite part was building relationships with many new students through my internship placement. I have made connections that I will never forget! It was great getting to know the kids and seeing their personalities come out as I spent more time with them and it was really rewarding when they started getting more comfortable around me and wanted me to join in their games and activities. The internship experience has taught me to be more patient, flexible, and comfortable stepping outside my comfort zone. I am now more confident working with people from different backgrounds and adapting to unfamiliar situations. The skills that I developed in the Youth Development & Education internship in Japan will help me in my future career, especially when working with patients from different backgrounds. I want to continue building on the skills I’ve gained, especially communication, patience, and working with people from different backgrounds. I also plan to continue working toward my goal of getting into medical school and becoming a doctor. I hope to use what I learned in Japan in my future work with patients and communities.

Improving skills that have better prepared me for postgraduate study

I took a year off to gain experience after my degree as part of this I undertook a remote internship in marine mammal research. Where I did a research project into Bottlenose and common dolphins. I spent a lot time improving my QGIS skills and getting to grips with these skills that have better prepared me for studying at a postgraduate level. I plan to go onto a second internship in sustainable farming. These internships have allowed me to gain experience whilst working from home.

I am very grateful for the opportunity

One of the things I enjoyed most about my internship in Samos was the opportunity to live in a completely new environment and experience marine conservation firsthand. Being able to participate in fieldwork, conduct biodiversity surveys, work with marine species, and contribute to research gave me valuable practical experience that I could not have gained in a classroom alone. This experience also contributed to my personal development in so many ways. Living abroad independently pushed me outside of my comfort zone and taught me to be more adaptable, confident, and comfortable navigating unfamiliar situations. I met people from different backgrounds, experienced a different culture and way of life, and gained a much broader perspective of the world. Professionally, the internship gave me hands-on experience in marine ecology and conservation and helped me develop skills in field research, observation, teamwork, communication, and scientific research. It also gave me a better understanding of the types of work I enjoy and the direction I may want to take in the future. Overall, I am very grateful for the opportunity and for everything I learned, both professionally and personally, throughout my time in Greece.

The internship was a valuable experience

What I enjoyed most about the internship was being able to experience dentistry in a completely different environment while also exploring Barcelona and immersing myself in the local culture. It gave me the opportunity to see different approaches to patient care and treatment, which encouraged me to be more open-minded about aseptic cases and what goal is to be achieved. Personally, I became more independent, adaptable and confident, especially when communicating with people from different backgrounds. Professionally, the experience helped me develop my communication skills, broaden my understanding of dentistry and gain a better idea of the type of dentist I would like to become. Overall, the internship was a valuable experience that I will take with me throughout the rest of my dental degree and future career.

The GIS & Reserve Management internship was extremely rewarding.

The GIS & Reserve Management internship was extremely rewarding. It was extremely rewarding to able to admire the Fynbos biome again, seeing the cheetahs and lions eat, finding a Robertson's Dwarf Chameleon, walking with giraffes and taking photos of various birds like the Cape Sugarbird, African Hoopoe, African Fisheagle and Pin tailed Whydah. It was also great finishing the PDF-chapters, cooking good meals, taking beautiful photographs of animals and plants, learning new plant species names and being able to identify them in the field. In a nutshell, the experience was eventful, full of amazing animals and plants and very soothing spending some time out in nature.

This internship experience also contributed towards my professional development

One aspect of my internship that I enjoyed the most was being able to have the opportunity to participate and engage in a range of events and activities with other interns from different cultural backgrounds and form strong friendship bonds with them. This internship experience also contributed towards my professional development through providing me with opportunities to enhance and evolve my technical capabilities, such as using specialised software tools like R programming for performing complex data analysis and laboratory skills including foundational proficiency, instrumentation use and contamination control. On a personal development level, this internship experience provided me with opportunities that allowed me to increase my sense of independence, self-confidence and social communication and engagement abilities. By encompassing these personal and professional traits, this will enable me to further complement and strengthen my progress towards my future career aspiration within the geographical field.

It was extremely rewarding being able to actively contribute to scientific research

It was extremely rewarding being able to actively contribute to scientific research and conservation efforts within the community for my internship. It was also an eye-opening, humbling, and exhilarating experience! Yes, it certainly did for the most part. South Africa is such a beautiful country, and being able to experience it without the luxury of high-end hotels and resorts made it that much better and more authentic. The people around Sodwana Bay were extremely welcoming and friendly, and it took no time at all to fit in.
