I enjoyed getting to know a new culture and traveling around Spain

Emails were clear and easy to follow. I had the absolute best experience I could have ever asked for because of my host mother. She took such good care of me and any students to get her as a host are super lucky! I enjoyed getting to know a new culture and traveling around Spain. I think it helped me mature a little bit by being alone in a different country and just further added to my self dependence which will help me in my career and life.

This internship will definitely be a core memory

I enjoyed working with a diverse group of interns and supervisors through this experience. Everyone had been immersed in a different culture than me and so it was a great experience being able to learn from everyone. The work that we did was also very rewarding to me as an international business student. I enjoyed being able to work on different briefings for the government and helping out with major events like the Space Economy Congress in Barcelona. This internship will definitely be a core memory and a solid foundation to build upon as my undergraduate career comes to an end.

What I enjoyed most about this internship was meeting new people and building meaningful friendships. I also loved exploring Spain and experiencing its culture firsthand. I’m grateful to have had this internship opportunity within my major, as it not only taught me new skills but also contributed significantly to both my personal growth and professional development.

My internship experience abroad helped me grow both personally and professionally.

My internship experience abroad went a long way in helping me grow, personally and professionally! I had the opportunity to work on different projects with students from all over the world, enhancing my organisation and teamwork skills. I was involved in making business calls, collaborating with the Administration and Finance department, reviewing and modifying documents and maintaining contact with people interested in a number of projects. I am very proud to have completed my internship and step outside my comfort zone. My favourite memory was my first day in the office. For me everything was so new and I had the opportunity to learn many skills that I will undoubtedly use in the future. This experience has helped me to become so much more self-confident!

My internship allowed me to gain valuable skills and enhance my prospects.

My internship allowed me to gain a lot of skills which will enhance my prospects in the future. The work environment I was in felt comfortable and safe, allowing me to enhance my Spanish skills in a working environment. Long term my internship has introduced me to the Sales and Trade sector, specifically in the context of real estate. This has been a sector which I have wanted to explore further and I have learnt a lot about the operations and the methods and software used. My communication and interpersonal skills have developed further which will really enable me to get further opportunities on my career path. It has allowed me to be more independent and more reliant on myself and my communication with others who don't speak the same first language as me. Being able to speak in Spanish to colleagues in the workplace has been one of my long term goals for a while and so I feel as if this has hugely helped me to gain more confidence whilst enhancing my speaking skills.

My greatest success in my internship has been my personal development

If you’re considering if an internship abroad is right for you, I would say it is! I think everyone can benefit in some way, however big or small, and no matter what, you will learn about yourself and grow in ways that you wouldn’t be challenged to in a familiar environment. Although I didn’t know what to expect at first, Intern Abroad HQ did a great job organizing my internship abroad and I would recommend them to anyone in the future. My internship allowed me to try a new job role and sector, to add variation to my career. I think this internship will open a lot of doors for me in terms of pivoting towards marketing, if I choose to pursue it. In terms of skills, I utilized time management, communication, networking, organization, creativity, event planning, and problem-solving. My greatest success in my internship has been my personal development, and being able to adjust to the daily life and tasks of a completely new environment. I consider this a success because it can be transferred over to my professional life.

I have a greater sense of direction on how I should go about pursuing my career

This internship has allowed me to apply my learnings from school into a real work environment. Thanks to my Marketing and Communications internship in Spain, I feel so much more confident in my abilities. I have a greater sense of direction on how I should go about pursuing my career. It will be hard returning to my normal life because it is not nearly as exciting as my internship experience has been! During my internship, I was tasked with redesigning the social media accounts of my host organization and worked on creating marketing strategies. I have been able to complete tasks while receiving guidance to perfect my skills. I was so pleased with the work asked of me, as I was given important work for the company that will provide benefits to both them and myself in the future. Similarly since stepping foot in Spain, my host family were nothing short of kind and welcoming. They enjoyed spending time with me and hearing about my day. They were helpful and supportive and acted almost like a set of parents here in Spain. I was so lucky to have been placed with them!

I met so many professionals

I chose the Virtual International Business Internship out of India because I wanted to gain more insight into how Organizational Psychology works and see HR practices in real-life situations. Choosing this internship program has enabled me to grow and work out what I want to do in my future career. My online role involved various tasks such as career counselling, organizational counseling, psychometric assessments, corporate counseling, recruiting, researching and providing personal insights about the ongoing training and courses. I helped the organization select great candidates suitable for the various positions it offers and I helped individuals work out what kind of career they want to go for. My internship supervisor and I always communicated through video calls and used emails and messaging to submit documents and schedule meetings. I used a Google calendar to keep track of meeting times with my supervisor and team members. I met so many professionals, all of whom had so much respect and valued everyone’s ideas. I had so many opportunities to contribute my thoughts, and everyone was willing to listen which made me feel valued and confident. The elements I enjoyed the most were the virtual meetings I had with my supervisor and other interns, doing interviews and listening to other people. The virtual meetings enabled me to express myself freely, to be heard, obtain instant feedback and interact with other interns freely. I enjoyed holding interviews with other professionals, which improved my self-confidence, communication and listening skills.

I believe that I have taken a giant step towards my desired future

My role during my internship was one of hard research. I was investigating both the possibilities of entering new markets and the disadvantages and advantages that my institution had concerning its competitors. This role has helped them a lot since many of my reports have been discussed internally to enhance the characteristics of the company and improve the disadvantages they have. In the long term, I provided them with great business ideas including new partners in different markets. The company where I interned always communicated in a very professional way. They went above and beyond to help me countless times and were all very friendly. It was amazing the similarities that I had with my supervisors. We understood each other very well, they were very nice, kind and wanted to get the very best out of me right from the beginning. It was wonderful to feel appreciated in this way. After having worked a lot and completing many reports, my supervisor congratulated me on my effort and told me that I had done an incredible job. All my feedback was amazing, and I really felt that my efforts during the internship were not in vain. I gave my best every moment and I felt very happy and proud that a company with such a great reputation acknowledged me in this way. With this internship, I believe that I have taken a giant step towards my desired future.
