What I enjoyed the most during my Coral Restoration internship in Costa Rica was the people I met. It allowed me to make many friends from different walks of life and it helped develop my social skills.

I felt very supported when applying and leading up to the program. Any questions I had were answered within 24 hours. My Program Manager was amazing and she was able to help me with any questions or concerns I had. I enjoyed being able to create long-lasting friendships with people from all over the world and share the experience of coral restoration. Being able to scuba dive every day with my fellow interns and learn more about marine conservation felt surreal as I get to apply my knowledge and skills to my future career in the ocean conservation field. I will forever remember this experience and will continue to keep the friendships I have made during this amazing opportunity! Being exposed to new cultures will allow me to continue to be open-minded about future countries I visit, as this trip to Costa Rica allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and grow more independent as a person.

All the questions I had were answered quickly and thoroughly. Costa Rica was a truly amazing experience, I felt pretty nervous in the beginning when I just arrived because you don't know if you click with everyone. Then all these amazing people arrived and we all clicked, we planned multiple weekend trips with our group, which was amazing. All the people from the local team were truly amazing, the sweetest people, if you have a problem they are 100% ready to help you. They are interested in all their interns, I got some information for coral restoration people on Curacao, they helped with my research and complimented me on it. I can't imagine my live without having met these people, and the best part is that a lot want to come dive with me in Curacao. I mean that's just amazing!! Love all of them.

The guidance was very helpful and I always received fast responses from Intern Abroad HQ. I most enjoyed the people I met. The instructors were amazing and very helpful. It was easy to learn from them and gain insight on what possible careers could look like in my field.

For me, getting my dive certification was the most important aspect, but to also obtain academic credits along the way topped it all. The people were amazing and always waved as I walked everyday to the marina and back. Cleaning the beach, my zipline excursions, and to look down as a turtle swims next to me was amazing. I'm going on another internship with Intern Abroad, but this time to Greece. Thanks Intern Abroad for 8 weeks of adventure!

What I enjoyed the most about my internship in Costa Rica were the trails and sightseeings. This experience definitely helped improve my English skills and made me want to work more for an environmental purpose.

I loved getting to shadow, learn from, and help such an amazing doctor! My host family was fantastic and even helped me travel around Costa Rica. I learned so much about medicine and being a physician and grew so much as a person, as well as grew significantly in my Spanish skills!

As being overwhelming anxious before setting off to this new experience I have to say I could not be any more satisfied with the turn out. Getting to build real connections with people in a new country and in a different language allowed me to realize how wonderfully simple being human is and that nothing is too out of reach.

I enjoyed being immersed in a culture other than my own. I was able to develop my Spanish skills and gain confidence to further develop my skills. Everyone was super helpful, and I can confidently say I made some long-term friends.

I most enjoyed having the freedom to travel on the weekends with other interns. I think this internship will help show that I’m competent in healthcare, not just in the U.S. in English speaking environments, but also in new environments, particularly in Spanish.

The checklist online was really useful for making sure I had completed all of the tasks before I left. I enjoyed the most giving tours to tourists around the mariposario. I think I gained confidence and communication skills that will be extremely useful further on in my career. I also improved my Spanish a lot of I look forward to working on it when I am home and using it for a future job.

The thing I enjoyed most during the internship was the feeling of being immersed in a different culture and learning new things about something I very much enjoy. The internship has contributed towards my personal development by allowing me to interact with different people and understand more of a culture that I wouldn´t have understood as much by simply travelling there for a holiday. I was able to develop my social skills and intrapersonal skills. It also contributed to my professional development by teaching me how organizations are built on teamwork, how meaningful projects come together over time, and how there are a lot of people who share my passion for the conservation of our natural environments.

My questions were answered and I was able to get a clear path to success in my internship. My host family was very welcoming and comforting; they took really good care of us and I hope to be able to visit them once again in the future. The locals that I talked to and other interns from other countries made the experience very enjoyable.

I really enjoyed working in a family-owned small business. I feel like everything I did was important and crucial for them to prosper and live in this small business. It was a lovely experience, and I got to meet some of the elders of the family. They all have a passionate love for what they do and repeatedly thanked me for my help though my work. As for my professional development, this internship was miles away from my comfort zone, therefore I perceive it has widened my mind regarding performing tasks that I would try to avoid in my daily life.

One thing I enjoyed the most about my internship was the wide variety of backgrounds that others I was working with came from. It was cool to all come together over common projects with different mindsets to collaborate with. This internship contributed toward my personal and professional development by putting me in an environment where I could work on and improve my cultural awareness and language communication skill

I loved my internship in Costa Rica, and the impact the students I worked with had on me was incredible. I learned so much from the teachers and a lot about my major and the culture. I feel much more ready to go into the real world; they gave me a lot of opportunities to get a lot of hands-on experience and interact a lot with a new population, a population of adults from 18-65, which I had never worked with before. It was an amazing experience with a lot of learning.

I met some wonderful people that I will stay in touch with and have learned and participated in things I did not think i’ll do. They let me snorkel when the others where diving, coral fragmenting and learning about whales, sharks and lots of different marine life.

I enjoyed getting to know the staff, fellow interns and exploring Costa Rica. I especially enjoyed learning new SCUBA techniques and strategies for doing work underwater. The presentations on marine life and health were super interesting.

Being surrounded by people working in marine biology and conservation gave me amazing opportunities to learn from them and hear their stories about their careers. This will help me in choosing my career path. I also was able to practice my Spanish and it helped me to know that I definitely want to continue learning it. I also now have many dives logged which brings me closer to becoming a dive master or instructor.

I interned in environmental conservation in Costa Rica for two weeks and learned many valuable skills and lessons. I helped with daily tasks such as feeding butterflies, hummingbirds, and cleaning the trails. I also worked on long-term tasks such as planting trees, releasing new butterflies into a second mariposario, and helped promote the beautiful nature preserve. I helped this organization spread awareness of the local animals and plants in Costa Rica to visitors and aided in the maintenance of the beauty of this biodiversity.
