The Maximo staff was great for every question that I had during my stay in Peru. Specifically Michael, Reese and Nina were there through every step of the way and continued routine check ups on my project to ensure that the experience was as advertised.

I've traveled with school groups to Oaxaca, Mexico and to Granada, Spain. In both cases, the programs delivered what we expected and more. These are unique programs because of their small scale and personal touch. They balance Spanish language instruction (which is notably very good), cultural experiences and home stay time. Any small glitch or need is addressed quickly and effectively. Special attention is paid to details such as celebrating student birthdays. The staff are accommodating, flexible, kind and professional. Our school chose to travel with Arcos again this year -- this time to Costa Rica.

This was a country mile better than the other nonsense course I refunded before it (which took me a while to do). This company is not only quick to respond to emails (unlike the one I dealt with but won't name) and have everything I needed to actually learn to teach. The course goes far beyond just naming grammar terms or jargon and gets down into examples of how to teach all kinds of content ranging from words to topics and yes, grammar. The instructional videos were excellent because they showed real teachers with real classes and gave feedback on them as well as asking questions to help you understand them more. Now that I've done the course, I would be happy paying way more, but am left feeling extremely happy that I didn't need to! This is a 100% win and I've already recommended to my friend who's thinking of teaching in China with me. Thanks ST!

I have been attending 1 on 1 online classes with That’s Mandarin now for nearly 1 year. The program is tailored to your personal needs and learning level and your teacher adjusts your lessons to suit your learning style, personal schedule and goals. The materials are relevant and you learn vocabulary suited to every day situations. I would recommend That’s Mandarin.

Je suis arrivée dans un pays où au début je me sentais étrangère. Très peu de relations avec les locaux comme si j’étais renfermée sur moi-même et ma culture. Pourtant, ce n’est pas ce que j’imaginais. Je m’imaginais sortir boire un verre un samedi soir. Tapear un peu, parler de tout et de rien. Ce que je faisais déjà un peu au Québec. Je cherchais une relation avec ma famille d’accueil, une ouverture de ma part, mais aussi de la leur. J’ai réussi à m’épanouir quand j’ai changé de famille. Cela a été le jour et la nuit. Ce changement m’a ouvert l’esprit et m’a permis de réellement m’encrer avec la culture. Connaître cette facette cachée dont seuls les locaux peuvent te guider à trouver le bon chemin. C’est ça que je cherchais réellement. Je suis tellement reconnaissante envers ceux qui m’ont accompagnée et qui me permettent de vivre l’expérience que je peux vivre aujourd’hui.

NOTE: i traveled to arcos with a college so they handled most of the logistics of payment and insurance and such. I took only Spanish with Arcos and it was a very nice class that I honestly wish we had for a longer period of time. Sometimes I wished it was as long as the excursions that we took, which were absolutely amazing and the Arcos team had deep insight so that our guide was never overwealmed by the amount of students/questions. They were able to translate and answer questions about Oaxaca during excursions and even recommend things to do/places to go during time off.

My 16-year-old son spent 6 weeks in Beijing with GAC's high school program. We were nervous sending him alone, but the homestay family treated him like their own child. He studied Mandarin in the mornings and went on cultural tours in the afternoons — the Great Wall, Summer Palace, and even a visit to a local high school. He came home speaking more Chinese than after two years of classes here, and with a second family in China. The 24/7 supervision gave us total peace of mind. Highly recommend for any teen wanting a real cultural experience.

I spent nine weeks at the Excellence Center learning colloquial Arabic. I enjoyed the classes a lot and My teacher Duha was very supportive. There was a great mix of content and activities and I improved a lot in the time I was there. Marwa and Osama do an outstanding job of running the center as well. They were always there when I needed anything, and I had a great time joining in on cooking classes, field trips, Iftar dinners during Ramadan, and Eid celebrations. Hebron is a very safe place to visit as well, so if you're concerned at all about this, don't be!

I recently completed a medical program experience in Faridabad (Delhi) with IVHQ. I would absolutely use them again for any future volunteering I may do and certainly recommend them to anyone else thinking about trying volunteering. The experience with IVHQ was excellent from the very beginning. Easy to use website. Clear information. Fair pricing. The preparation checklist left no room for errors and created a sense of confidence in the program and process before leaving home. There was clear support before leaving, while away and follow up when arriving home. It makes you feel that IVHQ genuinely care about your experience which is a great thing. We were well looked after in our home stay and had the best group during our stay. I’m 52, the eldest volunteer at the time was 77, the youngest 24, but we all had a common goal which is a great starting point. If you are considering volunteering I’d say go for it! With a one week option in lots of programs you can’t go wrong. I absolutely loved my whole time away and have already started looking into my next trip.

All the teachers and staff are very kind, friendly, and always helpful. I’m taking both speaking and grammar classes together, and time flies during the lessons. The teachers are excellent. There are fun events two or three times a month where students and teachers come together to have fun and learn at the same time. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve their Chinese skills. Thank you very much。
