Construction volunteers work in and around the beautiful pueblo of Antigua, Guatemala. Assist in the repair or building of community centers, playgrounds, and classrooms for schools, orphanages, and rural villages. Construction work is physically demanding and includes digging, removing dirt, carrying bricks, mixing cement, plastering, painting, cleaning, and various other activities related to construction. Work days are normally from Monday to Friday, though this may vary based on the weather, project needs, and construction schedule. At all times, volunteers are supported by Maximo Nivel’s professional Field Managers and construction projects are led by professional foremen who determine the work program. Very worthwhile and satisfying

The smallest efforts were so greatly appreciated as they get by with such limited resources. Staying in a private home with a host family was an enriching experience and an unexpected bonus. Most valued were the friendships that were formed with like minded individuals that have come together to be of service to others here in Antigua. Fond memories to last a lifetime.

The country I live in is so resourceful, but tocome here and help the less fortunate was totally fulfilling. I totally recommend this program. I got more out of it than what i gave.

We were able to help with construction in a town about 45 minutes away from Antigua, and we helped paint in a municipal building where women in the city could come to talk about issues that they were having. The staff at Maximo Nivel were very accommodating and nice, and whenever we had questions they were always happy to help. Guatemala is a lovely, safe country with warm people.
