City of lights

June 19, 2026Aurora Schifferli - United States

Living in Paris was an expansive experience. It challenged me in a lot of ways, and helped me grow because of it. Paris is such a beautiful city, with spectacles and beautiful architecture and people and a moving, dynamic current. There's always something to do, someone to see. It’s city to get lost in and find yourself again. It’s a city designed for people, for connection, for community. If I could, I'd do it all over again. The Middlebury Program is a great way to immerse yourself. With a host family, and a balance of local and program-led classes, and a lot of independence, you are sure to find yourself getting to know a great city. I found the language support really helpful, and I was able to meet a bunch of people, either local or through the program or through different study abroad schools. I’m really grateful for the opportunity it gave me.

Most Impactful Trip of my Life

June 19, 2026Zachary Corey - United States

I truly enjoyed the work I completed working on constructing a school and liked everyone I met. I loved how I got to see my contributions to the construction. It was extremely rewarding. I also enjoyed all of my free time exploring the city, nature, and Incan ruins.

Best. Decision. Ever.

June 19, 2026Katharine Gutkoski - United States

I decided to study abroad with AIFS and it truly was the best decision of my life. The AIFS Abroad team was so incredibly helpful--jumping onto phone calls to answer every one of my many questions. I had never lived abroad before but AIFS walked me through each step. My university required that I book my flights through AIFS' travel package, which I found to be so incredibly helpful. I did not have to worry about how I was getting to the airport or what flight to get. AIFS did it for me. From making sure I knew how to use the Tube to immersing me in the culture from the first moment I got off the plane, AIFS Abroad welcomed me with open arms. I loved going to class in a different part of the city as well. Kensington is GORGEOUS and getting to experience the life of a Londoner who travels back and forth from home is an experience I'll never forget. From traveling to Europe to visiting so many museums, from seeing theatre productions to meeting new people, London opened my world up. AIFS Abroad encouraged me to try new things and to spend as much time as I could out and about in the culture of England--while also making sure I got my schoolwork done! I even met my partner while there. I kept a digital journal through Instagram of my travels called "Lost In London"(@katharinegutkoski & @ontherecord._). I truly cannot thank AIFS Abroad for everything. Going to England changed my life and I would choose AIFS Abroad again and again and again.

Cultural and personal growth

June 19, 2026Marilyn Wales - Australia

My volunteer medical placement in Tanzania was an incredibly rewarding experience that contributed significantly to both my personal and professional growth. Working alongside local healthcare professionals in a resource-limited environment challenged me to adapt, think critically, and develop greater confidence in my clinical and communication skills. I gained valuable insight into delivering healthcare with limited resources while maintaining compassion, dignity, and patient-centred care. The placement also enhanced my cultural awareness and understanding. Immersing myself in Tanzanian culture allowed me to appreciate different perspectives, traditions, and approaches to health and wellbeing. Interacting with patients and community members deepened my understanding of the social and cultural factors that influence health outcomes and reinforced the importance of culturally safe care. One of the most memorable aspects of the experience was the connections formed with fellow volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Living and working together created a supportive environment where we shared knowledge, experiences, and challenges. These relationships fostered teamwork, resilience, and mutual respect, while providing opportunities to learn from one another’s professional and personal experiences. Overall, the placement broadened my worldview, strengthened my adaptability and problem-solving abilities, and reinforced my commitment to healthcare. It was a transformative experience that will continue to influence my practice and personal outlook long into the future.

My online teaching experience

June 19, 2026Gladman Sipho Faku - South Africa

As I had indicated before, my embarking on the TEFL course was to become an ESL Teacher. The course empowered me very much and the coursework itself was structured in a well defined manner. After each unit I could not wait to start on the next one. I also want to appreciate the advice from the newsletters I read. However, I would need more support in becoming an online contractor

got job offer within 3 months

June 19, 2026Elias Santos - Brazil

I did a finance internship in Shanghai through GAC and it completely changed my career path. I worked with a real team on live projects, not just making coffee. My mentor taught me how business works in China – fast, direct, and relationship-driven. The team handled everything: visa, apartment, airport pickup. Three months later, I had a job offer back home. Best decision I ever made in my career, cause It did change my perspective on my future. Thinking of doing it again as soon as possible i get on my annual vacation.

An Unforgettable Volunteer Experience

June 19, 2026Maevic BOUTAULT - France

I had the opportunity to spend a week volunteering at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, and I absolutely loved the experience. It was simply incredible! Everyone on the team was extremely kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. They made sure that we had a great time by varying the tasks and activities, which kept the experience interesting and rewarding throughout the week. As a huge animal lover, this volunteer program was truly a dream come true. I got to see all the animals I had hoped to see, including cheetahs, lions, elephants, and many more. Being able to get so close to these magnificent animals and experience nature in such an authentic way was unforgettable. A special mention goes to Tiaan, the coordinator, who is an amazing person. He is always approachable, attentive, and genuinely cares about making sure everyone has the best possible experience. He is happy to answer any questions and shares his knowledge with great enthusiasm. His dedication and positive attitude played a huge part in making this experience so memorable. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who loves nature and animals. It is an experience I will never forget and a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Learning and experiencing Peruvian culture, history, and life

June 19, 2026Roman Carrillo - United States

I felt that this was a great program for people to come and travel with a purpose and not as a vacation like ordinary tourist. I had the privilege to meet and talk to various people within Peru and volunteers to whom I´ve made friends and memories with. I strongly suggest for a person to go through Maximo, it´s been a great adventure.

IVHQ- Tanzania!

June 19, 2026Katie O Connor - Ireland

IVHQ are extremely supportive and trustworthy. They provide a very informative program guide and checklist which ensures you have everything you need! They do constant check ins and always provide support. The information shared is very real and it tells you exactly what to expect- there are no surprises! A member of the team collects you from the airport and ensures you are settled in- you also have an orientation day where you get to meet all of the managers and you know exactly who to go to for different enquires! The accommodation & food provided is of very good standard for the price. There is always someone available for help at night. I did my program in Tanzania- I did teaching. It was amazing! I learned so much from it. There was so much to do including the Safari, sunset hike, women’s outreach, waterfall, Moshi weekend, etc. all of these excursions were organised through IVHQ and I felt extremely supported on them all. If you are considering volunteering with IVHQ, do it! Don't hold back- you won’t regret it✨

The course trained me to be an effective EFL teacher

June 19, 2026Regan Johnston - United States

The course trained me to be an effective EFL teacher. The course was described as intensive with lots of opportunities to practice with real EFL students. I learned new teaching strategies and skills. I am better prepared to teach in front of new students. The observations of other classes were very helpful. My teaching was evaluated fairly, and I got good feedback. Trainers wanted us to succeed and provided a safe and engaging classroom environment. My opinion of Guadalajara is that it is the best city I have been to.
