An excellent experience for my development as a digital designer, where I was able to learn new things and introduces my skills in the best possible way. I learned a lot about augmented reality and I hope it allows me to find a suitable job.

My experience with the Fundraising & Partnerships Internship at Future for Africa was both eye-opening and empowering. It gave me a practical, behind-the-scenes understanding of what it really takes to sustain impact-driven projects. From the start, I was actively involved in designing and supporting fundraising strategies not just observing, but contributing ideas that were genuinely considered. I had the opportunity to work on grant writing, develop campaign concepts, and assist in planning outreach efforts to both local and international partners. This hands-on exposure made the learning experience very real and valuable. One of the most rewarding aspects was engaging with partners and supporters. Whether it was helping draft communications, contributing to newsletters, or supporting relationship-building efforts, I could see how strong partnerships directly translate into meaningful community impact. The collaborative environment stood out as well. Working closely with the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager and other teams helped me understand how different parts of the organization connect toward a shared mission. I also appreciated the creative freedom especially in developing content for social media and campaigns which allowed me to bring my own ideas to life. This internship is ideal for anyone interested in nonprofit fundraising, communications, or partnership development. It’s not just a learning experience; it’s an opportunity to actively contribute to something meaningful while building practical, transferable skills.

During my internship, I contributed to a sustainability project focused on improving environmental performance and supporting responsible business practices. I assisted with research, data collection, and analysis related to sustainability initiatives, including carbon management and resource efficiency. This experience allowed me to better understand how organizations integrate sustainability strategies into their operations. What I enjoyed most about this internship is the opportunity to contribute to work that has a clear and meaningful social impact. This made the work feel purposeful rather than purely task-driven. I especially valued the collaborative discussions with my supervisor. Knowing that the materials we create could directly support and empower women in difficult situations made the experience particularly rewarding. This internship strengthened my empathy and cultural awareness. I became more aware of how social, cultural, and economic factors influence personal decision-making, especially regarding sensitive topics like marriage and financial independence. This helped me grow in emotional intelligence and adaptability. Professionally, I gained experience in program design and curriculum brainstorming, improved my ability to communicate clearly in a remote environment, and developed stronger critical thinking skills when tailoring ideas to specific communities. Finding an internship as an international student is very tough. Especially when you don’t really have experience related to your field, but Connect-123 made it possible for me to learn and gain experience. It was overall very enjoyable and I am glad to underwent such. Now I have gained some understanding about working in a company to some extent and not to mention, there is also many soft skills which I feel like had improved ever since. I am very grateful for the opportunity!

My time at this internship has been an incredibly valuable experience. I was initially very nervous to commit, even during the interview. However, I had nothing to worry about since, looking back, I was able to choose the internship field based on my interests and career. They help you along the whole process and answering your questions is just an email away. My experience at my internship organization was your usual spreadsheet task and helping with whatever the team needed. Due to the remote nature, there is only so much you can do to help; they do have in-person ones also! Each organization is different, and depending on the organization, it can affect your experience. My university also offered credits (usually an online class) and covered any costs of the internship as part of the program. I recommend it to any student because not only do you get credit, but you also have the freedom to do other summer activities; the best of both worlds. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to advance my career path, help out a genuine and impactful organization, and learn what real-world work looks like.

During my internship with an autism research network, I contributed to an international project focused on autism screening and community research priorities. My work involved systematically screening studies, reviewing inclusion/exclusion criteria, and extracting detailed data into shared spreadsheets. I gained experience in critically reading abstracts and full texts, interpreting methodologies, and paying close attention to performance metrics such as sensitivity, specificity, and AUC values. Beyond technical skills, this internship gave me a deeper appreciation for the nuances of autism research — especially the importance of ethical considerations, community involvement, and shifting away from overly medicalized models of disability. I learned how to apply exclusion codes consistently, collaborate with peers across time zones, and manage large datasets precisely. This experience strengthened my research skills and my ability to reflect on the broader impact of scientific work. It challenged me to think critically about equity in autism research, including representation across countries, age ranges, and support needs. I now feel much more confident navigating scientific literature and contributing to conversations around research priorities. Overall, my internship was both practical and meaningful. It reinforced my academic interests in neurobiology and psychology while developing transferable organizational skills, critical analysis, and teamwork skills. I am grateful for the experience and for the opportunity to contribute to research that has real-world impact.

I got matched with a company relevant to my interests and worked with some amazing people. In my internship I created lead magnets and developed an operations manual/cultural handbook for a film production company. The skills I developed most while interning have been communication, adaptability, and time-management. Xena showed a genuine understanding of my goals and challenges. She was always responsive and open to addressing any questions. Her willingness to help made me feel heard and supported throughout the Connect-123 internship program.

My internship through Connect-123 provided an incredible opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to meaningful, real-world projects. I developed skills in finance strategy, marketing, outreach, and creative design, working on tasks such as building a professional film deck and connecting with potential donors. I am truly so thankful for Connect-123 for helping me find my perfect internship. Both my internships have been through Connect-123 and both were amazing experiences. My program director, Xena Pulliam, has been such a wonderful source of guidance and support throughout this entire process. The company I was initially interviewed by was about an hour late to the interview, and though the deadline for finding a placement was approaching, she didn’t give up on me. She found me the perfect placement at another company and even communicated on my behalf to ensure the work I was given aligned with my goals and interests. Through this experience, I was able to build valuable connections, develop new skills, and gain hands-on experience that has shaped my career path. I’m so grateful to Xena and Connect-123 for making both of my internships not only possible but truly meaningful.

This is a perfect experience. It's my first time working in a real world working environment. I've learnt a lot that can't be in courses and I believe this experience will give me more confidence and competence in finding my next internship and my first job.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received from Connect 123 and my supervisors throughout my internship experience. Their guidance made it possible for me to secure an internship quickly, and over the course of eight weeks, I learned an incredible amount—not only through the internship itself, but also through the professional and skill development opportunities they encouraged. The remote Developmental Psychology internship shaped me greatly in my personal and career development, giving me ample opportunities to develop my skills in communication, efficiency in an online environment, and professionalism. I became more knowledgable in my future career field, and made meaningful connections throughout my time with my host organization.

Working with my supervisor was a wonderful experience despite the timezone difference. I am very grateful to have been able to spend my time researching on the topic of youth mental health and helping combat mindsets of domestic abuse from a young age. I am sure the experience has tremendously prepared me for my future career in Psychology where similar working ethics and research styles will come in handy.

The remote Microfinance internship (hosted out of Tanzania) strengthened my confidence in working across cultures, handling ambiguity, and contributing value; even in resource-limited settings. It was rewarding to see that the financial analyses and documentation I worked on were not just numbers on a screen, but tools that influenced real decisions affecting small entrepreneurs and families in Tanzania. This has made my internship tasks feel purposeful and grounded in real-world impact

The remote Introduction to Counseling Skills internship (hosted out of India) was much more comfortable than I thought as I can start my day whenever I'd like - this helps it feel less school-like with attendance. It's all about getting your tasks in, which I prefer to have my own schedule every week. I love seeing the different counseling techniques and alternative therapies used within counseling to help clients. Another thing I will highlight is the research requirement through all my case reports, I find it rewarding to find myself a topic to research on and write about in my case reports. I am proud to say that I will enter my Master's program this coming spring readily and more eager to deep dive into counseling better than before. The remote internship really helped to motivate me to improve my personal and professional development as a person and as an aspiring counsellor. I really enjoyed doing my own research through the case reports; personally finding something to research through each case report has helped me learn about the subject and the techniques involved.

What I enjoyed the most about this internship was the opportunity to work on real technical tasks and gain practical experience. This experience helped me improve my skills, my confidence, and my sense of responsibility. It also helped me understand better how a professional environment works and how important teamwork and organization are. Overall, this internship contributed greatly to both my personal and professional development.
