Political Science & Politics Internships in North America

My experience interning with Intern México was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Having previously interned abroad through a few different agencies, I can confidently say that none compared to how easy and seamless Intern México made the entire process or to the kindness and support of their staff. I was placed with an amazing international architecture firm where I had the opportunity to grow professionally, gain hands-on experience, and learn things that simply cannot be taught in a university classroom. Beyond my professional development, the experience also allowed me to grow personally while living and working in one of the most incredible cities in the world. I am extremely grateful for the experience, the people I met, and everything I learned during my time in México City.

As an economics student, I am deeply interested in understanding how rigorous modelling coupled with data-driven analysis can be used to effectuate economic and social change through guiding real-world decision-making. Over the last few years, I have increasingly recognised that unlocking the potential value that this discipline could bring hinges on whether one can discern which models and tools would be appropriate for the given context. To develop my capacity for making substantive judgements, I sought out The Intern Group to match me with a suitable organisation that would enable me to apply the skills and knowledge I've learnt from my time at university. The experience itself was highly challenging and intellectually stimulating; it forced me to think critically about what would constitute a useful deliverable for my partner organisation, in addition to how it should be presented to communicate my findings accessibly. In contrast to university coursework, which is generally evaluated in accordance with a well-defined set of criteria, I was granted the liberty to be creative in how I approached this project. Consequently, I had the chance to engage in divergent thinking and figure out for myself which ideas were feasible and worth developing. Although this strategy requires spending considerable time and energy before making any visible progress, it allowed me to identify the constraints imposed by the available data, understand the incentives faced by different stakeholders and consider what information decision-makers need to act effectively. Learning how to draw upon this framework in order to credibly and reliably inform decision-making within the global agricultural commodity trading market has inspired me to pursue further study and gain new experiences so that I may broaden my exposure while deepening and consolidating my skills and knowledge. I believe that this experience, supplemented by the developmental opportunities and resources offered by The Intern Group, has helped me to clarify my career path, reaffirm my understanding of how the discipline can yield practical insights and realise my own potential in contributing to real-world change.

Beyond Academy were absolutely brilliant from start to finish, every step is well thought out with sufficient support throughout not only from the programme leaders in the city taking us to events, shows, dinners, and hotspots, but also from those behind the scenes making the internship happen in the first place!

I had an lovely and efficient experience with the intern group, no matter who I interacted with they were kind and helpful, the whole experience was very rewarding and they are always available for any questions along the way! I was really unsure on how it would all go, but I was very impressed and I have nothing but positive things to say. From the start they made the process of finding an internship that would suit my needs so easy and every step of the way they are encouraging you. I absolutely loved my time with them and have zero regrets. I got matched with a company very quickly and I absolutely adored my experience and time with the company I got to work for. Even though it was remote I was still made to feel like I was part of the process and I throughly enjoyed experiencing being part of real work for real people. Even if you are a university student looking to gain experience one summer or a recent graduate there is no doubt in my mind you will gain something valuable from doing an internship with a company that aligns with your career goals.

My experience in Thailand has been so fun! I got to see a lot of the major temples and sites that are a must visit. I made many friends with the other interns here. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They helped me with any questions I had or anything in general. Overall my experience was amazing, 10/10 would recommend to anyone on the fence about it! I would even come back if I could!

I got to meet so many amazing people while getting to explore a new city, all while building my resume at an amazing internship company that will leave a lasting impact on me. The community coordinators are the nicest people ever and make sure that you feel like you belong in the city, no matter where you are from :)

This internship abroad was a very positive and enriching experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. I had the opportunity to develop new skills while strengthening those I already had, in a supportive and encouraging environment. Being in an international setting helped me become more adaptable, independent, and open to new perspectives. I also improved my communication and organization skills, which I found especially valuable. One of the most important aspects was how much it broadened my vision, giving me a better understanding of different ways of working and thinking. It encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and gain confidence in unfamiliar situations. At the same time, the overall experience remained balanced and enjoyable, making it both rewarding and motivating. This internship has helped me clarify my goals and has given me a stronger sense of direction for the future. I am grateful to InternMexico for helping me find this opportunity and making the process smooth and accessible. I would highly recommend an experience like this to anyone looking to learn and expand their horizons.

An excellent experience for my development as a digital designer, where I was able to learn new things and introduces my skills in the best possible way. I learned a lot about augmented reality and I hope it allows me to find a suitable job.

During my internship, I contributed to a sustainability project focused on improving environmental performance and supporting responsible business practices. I assisted with research, data collection, and analysis related to sustainability initiatives, including carbon management and resource efficiency. This experience allowed me to better understand how organizations integrate sustainability strategies into their operations. The internship strengthened my analytical, research, and problem-solving skills while giving me practical exposure to sustainability reporting and environmental impact assessment. Overall, the project highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in promoting long-term organizational and environmental well-being. Claudy Docteur

Overall, the experience was a 10 out of 10. The Intern Group supported me and guided me throughout the entire process. Not only did I gain practical experience through my internship, but the social and cultural activities they organized every weekend—such as museum visits, cruises, and trips to amusement parks—were also wonderful. It was a great opportunity to learn a lot while having a fun and enjoyable time with other interns in New York. The accommodation was also excellent. I stayed in a self-contained apartment, and the location was very convenient.

The Intern Group provided amazing support, well-located accommodation, and fun activities throughout my experience! The trip to the Whitney Museum of American Art was very memorable and I wish I would have joined more of the included activities!

My internship in New York with The Intern Group has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I worked at BQE Media, creating cinematic-quality content for restaurants and brands, and gained valuable insights into digital marketing and storytelling. Beyond the office, I volunteered at Rooftop Films as an official photographer, attended cultural events across the city, and even joined a 48-Hour Film Project with filmmakers from NYU. These opportunities pushed me out of my comfort zone, expanded my professional network, and helped me grow as a filmmaker and as a person. Living and working in one of the most creative cities in the world gave me independence, confidence, and a global perspective that I will carry throughout my career.

And not only that, but being surrounded by equally-minded, ambitious, and hard-working individuals that want to kickstart their career, it's the best internship programme to do for someone wanting to experience life in a big city
