Information Systems Internships in Japan

I decided to do an internship abroad through Absolute internships with a question, "can I live and work in Japan comfortably?" and I can say with confidence that the experience they provided absolutely delivered a resounding "Yes!". I was delivered a painless process duing selection, and they found me the perfect company that I could use my skills as an english and history double major to make a positive impact that was appreciated by my host company (Yukari Japan Tour, a tour company specializing in sake brewery tours) and showed me how I can be valued for the work I can do. The expereicne was made fun and relaxed with fantastic coordinators that cared about the work they were doing with us and who seemed to genuinely want the best for us as both representatives of Absolute Internships and as peers. I made some wonderful memories with both my fellow interns and my host ccompany, and I will forever be grateful to Absolute Internships for fascilitating the making of them.

I had a great experience during my internship in Japan this summer. I got to work in an international office, meet people from different backgrounds, and experience working in Tokyo. During the internship, I worked on financial products, Excel workbooks, research, and legal documents. Everyone in the office was really friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. Overall, I learned a lot, became more comfortable working in both English and Japanese, and really enjoyed my time there. I’m very glad I had this opportunity!

My stay in Japan for three months over the summer was super fun. I was able to learn a lot from my internship while also being able to explore Japan for all that it has to offer. My apartment was in convenient places located near Shibuya and Shinjuku.

I did my internship in Japan during the summer. It was a bit difficult to find a company related to my area, but AIP made it possible and helped me find a good place. I had a really good experience and learned a lot from working in a different environment and living in another country. I would definitely recommend a program like this if you have the chance. It’s a great way to experience another culture, learn new things, and gain experience that can help improve your professional profile.

I can’t say enough good things about this study abroad internship program in Japan. From day one, the support team went above and beyond — helping with everything from housing logistics to navigating cultural norms at the workplace, to just checking in to see how I was adjusting. Whenever I hit a snag (and there were a few, since everything was so new!), someone was always just a message away with real, helpful guidance. Working abroad completely shifted how I see the world and myself. Culturally, I learned to appreciate the nuance in Japanese communication styles — the emphasis on harmony, indirectness, and reading context that isn’t always spelled out. It pushed me to be more observant and adaptable in ways I didn’t expect. Professionally, it was just as transformative. I picked up a whole new appreciation for structure, teamwork, and attention to detail in a Japanese work environment, and it’s changed how I approach collaboration and problem-solving even now that I’m back home. This program didn’t just give me work experience — it gave me a completely new lens for how I think about both my career and myself. If you’re considering doing a study abroad internship, especially in Japan, I can’t recommend this program enough. The team truly cares about your growth, both professionally and personally.

I had a great experience with AIP! They were very helpful throughout the entire process of my internship in Tokyo and guided me every step of the way. During my time abroad, they also frequently checked up on me to make sure everything was going smoothly!

Had a great experience overall. I got to work on a lot of different projects that helped me learn and build new skills. Outside of work, I explored Tokyo, experienced the culture, and met some great people. If I had one suggestion, it’d be to have more events where interns can get to know each other. They provided me with accommodation and a host company where I worked full-time at for 6 weeks. I spent my internship in Bangkok, and it was an amazing experience of learning, doing new things and exploring. My internship experience in Taiwan was a very fulfilling one. Having the chance to work with local colleagues on various projects gave me a different perspective that extended far beyond what I was used to in Singapore. There is a difference between visiting a country as a tourist and actually living and working there. I was originally a little hesitant about doing an internship abroad but AIP did a great job at making it a good experience! My internship in Taiwan was honestly one of the most meaningful and enjoyable experiences I have had. At the start, I was a little nervous because I was working in a new environment and had to adjust to a different culture and way of communicating. However, my colleagues at my company were very welcoming, patient, and willing to guide me. Through working with them, I learned a lot about teamwork, communication, responsibility, and how to adapt when things do not always go according to plan. Besides gaining useful work experience, I also had the chance to make many new friends. Spending time with both locals and other interns made the whole journey much more memorable. The most memorable for me was the trip to Fulong Bay where I cycled with the other AIP interns. We shared meals, explored different places, helped one another, and created many good memories together. These friendships were definitely one of the best parts of the internship. I also really appreciated being able to experience Taiwan beyond the usual city attractions. Travelling to Taitung allowed me to see a quieter and more local side of Taiwan, including its natural scenery, small towns, food, and everyday lifestyle. It helped me understand the culture in a deeper way instead of only seeing Taiwan as a tourist. Overall, this internship helped me grow both professionally and personally. I became more independent, confident, and comfortable with adapting to unfamiliar situations. I am very grateful for the people I met, the lessons I learned, and the experiences I gained during my time in Taiwan

My 10-week internship in Taiwan through the Asia Internship Program was an unforgettable and meaningful experience. From the application and company placement process to the pre-departure arrangements and my time in Taiwan, the AIP team, especially Nisha and Roro, was responsive, supportive, and helpful whenever I had questions. The internship gave me the opportunity to experience a real international working environment, apply the knowledge I gained in university, and develop both technical and professional skills. Working in a Chinese-speaking workplace was challenging at times, but it also encouraged me to improve my communication skills, adapt to a different environment, and become more independent. Outside of work, living in Taiwan allowed me to experience a new culture, explore the country, and meet people from different backgrounds. I am grateful for the opportunity and would highly recommend AIP to students who are looking to gain overseas work experience, broaden their perspectives, and challenge themselves both personally and professionally.
