Everything else you need to know about gap year job programs

Costs. Variation of prices will always play a factor in how much you’ll spend on your gap year jobs program. A lot of the time, people will pay their flight, application fee, and depending on the gap year job, room and board. Different types of gap year jobs will have their own benefits, but expect to pay between $5,000-$10,000.

Accommodations. If you’re performing a paid gap year job, a lot of companies will place you into housing, or they will at least pay for your stay in a hotel until you find an apartment. Others will have you stay at the place you’re working at (such as a hostel or dorm if you find gap year jobs in hospitality). It’s best to live with locals of the land, so they can introduce you to other locals. Then, before you know it, you’ll have a friend group in no time.

Visas. You can’t embark on the best gap year jobs without a visa. Don’t freak out or think it’s hard, just follow these guided steps. Find the country you want to travel to, look up to see their visa requirements, fill out the paperwork that specific for your requested visa, visit your nearest embassy with all paperwork and necessary ID in hand, and apply for your visa in person. Not sure where your local embassy is? Check out GoAbroad embassy directory to find where.

Safety. Here’s the rules, folks: Have fun, travel off the beaten path, don’t let the big news anchorman scare you, but most of all, have common sense. Don’t go into dark alleyways alone at night and make sure to travel in groups after a certain time during the day. Always, always, always, read the government travel warnings on where you’re going. Also, make sure to read where the best hidden travel destinations are.
