A Guide to Anthropology Degrees Abroad
Best Locations
While much of anthropological research takes place within primitive cultures and de-industrialized societies, the best place to earn a full degree abroad is typically at a larger university with the literary and scientific resources to supplement your education.
As an English speaker, most of the best anthropology degree programs you can enroll in are located in the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia. Schools such as Harvard, Cambridge, University of Toronto, and University of Melbourne are the cream of the crop for anthropology degrees abroad, but also extremely competitive to get into. Luckily most other major schools in these countries offer anthropology degree programs too, so your options are quite deep.
If you want to earn your degree in a non-English speaking country then good for you, this will be an immensely rewarding cultural experience and surely enhance your anthropological perspective. The major challenge however is that you will have to learn the local language well enough to understand what your teacher is saying in class. Countries such as France, Germany, Japan, and China have many prestigious universities where you can earn an anthropology degree abroad, but generally you can expect that classes will be taught in the local language.
