Volunteer in a Child Care Facility in the Philippines

Volunteer for the Visayans places volunteers in several orphanages around the city and surrounding towns. Each orphanage is home to around 45 and over 100 abandoned and unwanted children, many of whom come from impoverished families and have suffered from malnutrition or neglect. Living with just the necessities and few toys, these children only have a limited staff to care for them. Caregivers appreciate the extra help our volunteers can offer them, like tutoring the children, organizing arts and crafts or sports activities, and helping with basic chores such as feeding the kids and folding laundry. This is a meaningful way to learn firsthand the hardship most children face and give back to the underprivileged children growing up in a Third World country. Volunteers don't necessarily need caregiving experience. All we ask is that you come with energy, enthusiasm, an open mind, and an open heart. With little staff, we ask the volunteers to organize recreational activities such as sports, educational exercises, or arts and crafts. With few resources at the orphanages, it helps if the volunteer can bring educational resources, art supplies, or tapes with children's songs.

Spend time with Orphan & needy Children of Nepal

Moonlight Children’s Home established in April 2009 provides a home for the abandoned homeless and orphan children of Nepal. MCH is a registered (NGO) non–profit, non-government organization of Nepal to provide home, food, education, clothes, a healthy environment and entertainment to the development of children so that they grow up to lead a normal life and become good citizens. Thousands of parents, especially mothers, die every year due to poverty, ignorance and superstitions. There are large numbers of children who lost their parents and become orphans. Moreover, Nepal suffered from conflict for about twelve years. Duringthis period many people lost their lives and many were orphaned during the decade-long Maoist conflict. After the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015, several children lost their families and became orphans. Realising these facts Moonlight Children’s Home was established to improve the suffering of these children. In our patriarchal society females are dominated by the male society in every aspect of their lives and to grab the opportunities as a whole. So Moonlight Children’s Home is especially for the protection of such kinds of needs and orphan girls.

Farming and Organizing Activities in a Children's Home

Since 2000, volunteers from all over the world have been participating in our summer programs designed to help improve the vegetable farm in a Children's Home in the Tuv Province of Mongolia. However, between 2014-2018, they decided to discontinue their farming activities due to the lack of human resources and the unavailability of farming land. In 2017, we managed to rent farming land for the Children's Home, and they resumed their farming activities on this new land. As a result, our cooperation with their farm restarted in 2018. One of the main roles of the international volunteers will be assisting with the farming work at the Children's Home. The main works include planting vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, radishes, etc., at the eco-farming camp and organizing leisure time activities with kids from the Children’s home. Volunteers may also work on other tasks, such as making fences to protect the farm.
