Wonderful 4 weeks Japanese studies

From my first contact up to graduating this week my study experience with Meiji was good. Japanese classes, cultural activities and staff support were very hands on. My sharehouse was also good and I made a lot of friends during my time there.

I don't want to leave :')

Being in Cusco was way better than I had imagined (and I had imagined it a lot hahaha)! Maximo just had the best and most welcoming team, with great teachers and an energizing environment. I already had a good level of spanish, but now I know a lot more and I feel confident to practice everywhere I go! I can't wait to be back here :)<3

My experience during these 2 months as a Teaching Assistant

My experience in Ghana was extremely positive and enriching. I carried out several missions related to education, water supply, and the construction of sustainable, affordable houses adapted to the hot climate. The association provided excellent support and comfortable living conditions, making my integration easy. The local community welcomed me warmly and showed great appreciation for my work. This experience allowed me to discover a new culture, develop new skills, and contribute to meaningful projects. I am very happy to have supported this association and its valuable work for local communities.

One of the best experiences I've ever had

Everyone should go out of the comfort zones, and try a volunteering experience. It opens your mind and makes you realize what it really matters in life. I've learnt a lot, and I've learnt to value what I have. Future 4 Africa offered me this opportunity and they were even better than I expected. They took care of me in every single moment of the programm. I've had a really good time with them and I will for sure come back! Incredible people and incredible hearts! I just can say thank you.

Rapid Progress & Incredible Local Support

The team at the Hangzhou campus goes above and beyond! From organizing my comfortable accommodation to setting up local payment apps, their support made settling into China completely seamless. The 1-on-1 language classes were perfectly tailored to my pace, and using the Nihao Cafe app allowed me to review all my custom lesson notes anytime. My speaking skills improved drastically in just one month!

2 weeks learning Mandarin in Shanghai

I enjoyed my course so much! The teachers, Jamie and Anne, were very good. Clear, knowledgable, fun, and taught us Mandarin that would be relevant in day-to-day life. I have definitely learnt a lot in just two weeks. It has been very useful for me as I continue my travels around China. The school brings together such a variety of interesting people. Social activities were also fun - including Tai Chi, dumpling making, Majong, lunches, and game nights! Highly recommend this course!!!

Primary Healthcare Assistant for underserved communities

FutureforAfrica is a reliable NGO, with coordinators who love what they do and everything collected goes to the people in full, Ghana is a beautiful country, with very happy and pleasant people, would return a thousand times.I have done several volunteers during my life, but this has been one of the best, starting from the beginning with the organization, the coordinators who have been a support before and during the trip, had a little doubt about the food, the water we could consume in the house, but everything has been clean and packaged. Every day it was planned and on weekends we could go somewhere to meet, Ghana is a beautiful country, it would return again.

I learnt so much and explored LONDON

Wow. what an amazing opportunity to take part in a wonderful work environment, with amazing colleagues, I learnt so much in my internship and had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience. Specifically to beyond academy, the team was so helpful, supportive and very interesting. From community engagement, to exploring different parts for london and taking part in a vast variety of events. A very active group chat where one can connect with both the team and fellow interns. Guidance on career progression, London culture and way of life and even wonder day to day Hacks and ideas. Amazing accommodation, close to transport facilities. Great communication and insight on multiple experiences, ideas and perspectives.

Disappointing Experience: Subtle Racism, Unprofessionalism, and Feeling Unwelcome - I AM FILIPINO

I came to Máximo Nivel excited to improve my Spanish and earn my TEFL certification. I hoped it would be a rewarding opportunity to learn and meet people from different backgrounds. Instead, parts of my experience left me feeling unwelcome, overlooked, and disappointed. I’m Filipino, and English isn’t my first language. BUT I’ve also lived and worked in several international settings: I worked in South Korea, studied in Singapore, worked in Switzerland, Oman and spent nearly ten years as a First Class flight attendant in Dubai- UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, and am now Canadian citizen. I’m familiar with multicultural environments, so I was especially troubled by how uncomfortable I sometimes felt at a school that promotes cultural exchange. My experience at the International Office: I often felt uncomfortable approaching Maia for help. When I tried to talk about difficulties I was having, I felt judged rather than supported, and her manner came across to me as cold and dismissive. I also noticed what seemed like a change in her demeanor when a white person entered the office while she was helping me. She appeared warmer and more accommodating. I can’t know what she intended, and I can only speak to my own experience, but the contrast left me wondering whether my ethnicity affected how I was treated. My interactions with Reese, also working at the international office, also left me feeling uneasy. Over time, I found myself hesitating to approach the International Office, even though supporting international students is its purpose. I’ve also encountered people (especially Americans) who made assumptions about my education or abilities because I had worked in Dubai. Those experiences made it all the more important to me to be treated with respect and without cultural stereotypes. I did have positive experiences with Gabby, the head of the International Office, and Rico, who is from South Africa. Both were welcoming and helpful. Questions about the teaching program: During my TEFL course, our instructor, Sean, asked us to apply for a Máximo Nivel teaching program with opportunities in Costa Rica and Guatemala. I submitted my application before some of my American and British classmates, but I never received a callback or meaningful follow-up. My application stated that I’m Filipino. I can’t know whether my nationality played any part in the outcome, and I understand that applying early doesn’t guarantee selection. Still, given how I had already felt at the school, the lack of communication left me with questions. I wasn’t expecting a guaranteed position. I did expect clear information about the selection process. If passport eligibility, visa rules, or other hiring requirements affect who can participate, I believe those requirements should be explained upfront—especially when an institution invites its students to apply. My Spanish classes: My experience in Tania’s group Spanish class was also disappointing. I was the least proficient speaker in the group, which was exactly why I had enrolled. Instead of feeling encouraged, I often felt overlooked. At times, class started about five minutes late. Tania would sit down, turn the fan toward herself, and sometimes apply face powder during class. I also felt that too much of our four-hour class was spent hearing about her personal life, including her dog, or doing seatwork rather than practicing conversation. I had hoped for structured lessons, patience, and plenty of speaking practice. Instead, I left feeling that the class didn’t give me the support or engagement I needed to learn. The people who made a positive difference Not everyone at Máximo Nivel disappointed me. Sean was a professional and capable TEFL instructor, and Nelly, my private Spanish teacher, was excellent. Gabby and Rico were also approachable and helpful. Their conduct showed me the kind of teaching and support I had hoped to experience throughout the program. Final thoughts: My main disappointment is the gap between the school’s message about international exchange and how I felt during parts of my time there. Students should be able to ask for help without feeling intimidated, and language learners should feel supported rather than embarrassed about where they’re starting. I’m sharing this especially for Filipino and other Asian students considering Máximo Nivel. I can’t speak for anyone else, and others may have a different experience, but I want prospective students to know about mine. I didn’t expect special treatment. I expected courtesy, professional instruction, fair consideration, and respect—regardless of my nationality, appearance, or language level. Being a non-native English speaker doesn’t make someone less educated, experienced, or deserving of respect. For the cost and the expectations I had, my overall experience was deeply disappointing. Based on it, I wouldn’t recommend Máximo Nivel. I hope the school takes concerns about cultural sensitivity, communication, recruitment transparency, teaching quality, and staff professionalism seriously.

Perfect Blend of Tech & Traditional Culture

Hangzhou is such a captivating city, and That’s Mandarin captures its unique identity perfectly. Morning grammar and conversation classes were engaging and practical, while afternoon cultural activities like visiting Longjing tea villages and silk museums brought our lessons to life. The staff creates a warm, family-like atmosphere that makes international students feel right at home.

Finished my tefl in 4 weeks

Great. Guys your tefl is your golden ticket to freedom. Seriously i invested into my course despite being a uni student but I had to. My tefl allowed me to study and earn income. I left my home country and started a new life somewhere else where I never had to be apart of a toxic household again. X

Rapid Progress and Complete Cultural Immersion

I went from struggling with basic HSK 1 grammar to comfortably having everyday conversations in under two months! The communicative teaching approach focuses heavily on real-life application rather than dry textbook memorization.

Fulfilling experience in Kansai

I had a great time with Meiji and the instructors made a significant contribution to it. Classes were informative and the structured learning approach for grammar, speaking, listening and Kanji studies was good. Sometimes I felt a bit of struggle to catch up with the Kanji volume but you can always ask the teachers or for additional Kanji exceises. The city tour was a lot of fun and definitely helped me to get around Kyoto for the first few days. Hope to visit Kyoto again soon😁

Modern Campus with an Unbeatable Vibe!

Studying at That’s Mandarin Hangzhou was a fantastic decision! The campus facilities are super modern, comfortable, and welcoming. Spending breaks at their integrated Nihao Cafe while chatting with teachers and fellow students made practicing Chinese feel natural and fun.

Having the time of my life!

I am currently in Surfers Paradise, working in a brand-new, high-demand hostel, with a group of Internex girls as roommates, and we are having the time of our lives! Internex helped me arrange the perfect position for my gap year, as well as supported me each step of the way. Even if circumstances changed, Internex was super flexible and tailored to my needs. They also helped with my bank accounts and TFN, which was great because it took so much stress off my plate. Even now, being here, I stay in touch with my awesome advisor, Chris, to make sure that I'm still a happy girlie in my beachy paradise. If you are looking for a guiding hand in your working abroad experience, choose internex! You can focus on the fun part of australia-being there!

unforgettable month in Ghana

Thanks to Future4Africa, I spent an unforgettable month in Bolgatanga, Ghana, as a nurse. I participated in various projects involving healthcare, education, sports, an orphanage, and a library. This experience was incredibly rewarding, both personally and professionally, allowing me to learn, grow, and contribute to the local community. I am deeply grateful to the amazing team for their support and dedication. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I cannot wait to return

Ideal Environment for Tailored Learning

As someone balancing business goals with general communication, the customized curriculum at That's Mandarin Hangzhou was exact to my needs. The small group setup allowed for plenty of individual speaking time and immediate feedback. The location is conveniently connected to public transit, making exploring West Lake after class extremely easy. Highly recommended for any serious learner!

Incredible Trip!

Wow! Travel For Teens organized an incredible trip! There were fun activities, great food, and lots of memories! This trip was a great combination of sightseeing, beaches/boating, and learning about a new culture. The three trip leaders were absolutely incredible, they were fun while still being very responsible and organized. I absolutely loved this trip!
