This essential program aims to help vulnerable children and adults through educational initiatives. Volunteers choose from placements in high schools, a special needs residential school, or a language school for adults. Schools in Mombasa are greatly under-resourced, so support from international participants makes a huge difference. The special needs school is large yet understaffed, thus requiring help with teaching and caring for over 480 residential students, some with severe disabilities, who would be at risk if staying in their communities. The school welcomes volunteers with experience in speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work, audiology, or another specialist area. They are especially looking for compassionate individuals willing to spend time with vulnerable children. On the other hand, the language school needs volunteers who can plan and conduct lessons in English, German, French, or Italian. The goal is to develop knowledge of a second language among young adults, helping open employment opportunities abroad. Under-resourced schools in Diani Beach seek volunteers to work with children living in extreme poverty.

This versatile NGO management & administration experience and observation program gives insight into all aspects of running the Aldeas de Paz Foundation. It's geared toward participants interested in starting their own charity or who want hands-on experience in the day-to-day running of a grassroots NGO. Volunteers and interns observe and assist the coordinator and director with office work, as well as in-community project support, administrative work, and the coordination and supervision of community programs and participating volunteers. The NGO management volunteers and interns also help ensure the well-being of our volunteers and their coordination and full integration into various programs offered, as well as into the social life of the community. The foundation relies on NGO volunteers and interns to ensure smooth operations and therefore requires flexible and dedicated volunteers. Direct work with our primary beneficiaries is an essential part of the work of Aldeas de Paz, so NGO volunteers and interns are also expected to participate in foundation-wide events and activities involving our beneficiaries.

Lima, the capital of Peru, is located on the west coast of the Pacific along the Rímac River. This large, international city balances both modern and traditional influences, which evolved from Peru's history as the home of the Inca and numerous other civilized cultures dating back as far as 2000 BC. Opportunities vary from rehabilitating marine life to working with disabled or at-risk youth to creating environmental protection campaigns. By partnering with community-based organizations and following a structured, reflection-based curriculum, you will learn how local experts address these issues with available resources while developing intercultural and leadership skills in a real-world context. Each of our community-based organizations is unique, so visit our website to learn more about your options. Although all our programs are great, we especially recommend Lima for students who are interested in marine biology or human rights.

Green Life Volunteers is a registered non-profit organization or association in Costa Rica. We just earn enough to cover operational expenses, like payments for office space, employee services, and basic organizational costs. We work hard to provide volunteers with an amazing experience, with a lot of hours thrown into administration, logistics, phone calls, Skyping, emailing, and so forth. The minimal fee to cover the basic operational needs will be covered through the higher program fee required in the first week. We have excellent projects throughout Costa Rica, which are a result of many years of collaboration and research. The projects we collaborate with are in actual need of help and have experience working with volunteers. This guarantees that you will have a great time and an awesome experience. The projects are always run by local members of the community, non-profit, and with a benefit for people, nature, or animals. The guest families have been handpicked by local staff, and all of them have years of experience hosting foreigners and volunteers. They are always happy to welcome you, and they will be your family away from home.
