Architecture & Sustainable Construction Internship - Ecuador

Join this hands-on internship and help low-income Indigenous communities revive ancestral building techniques to create sustainable housing for all. THE CHALLENGE Before the construction of industrialization, Andean communities built with rich clay soils. Globalization shifted practices to single-skin concrete buildings—faster and “modern,” but colder, costlier, less ecological, and more earthquake-prone. Hundreds of adobe homes now lie in ruin, and as these traditional methods vanish, so does their cultural and architectural heritage. THE SOLUTION We’re helping restore these buildings to preserve heritage and provide future benefits, from dignified homes to income through tourism. With support from our experienced team, join a design or build project to learn how adobe houses are made in the Andes and help restore those that might otherwise collapse. OUR METHODOLOGY Our internships use Design Thinking to co-create solutions with local partners. You’ll learn to observe, ideate, and prototype in real contexts, building skills while driving sustainable change. On weekends—or before and after your stay—you can explore Ecuador, from the Amazon to the Galápagos.

Medical and Health Care Volunteering in Guatemala

Based in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, our Medical Volunteer Program is built on long-term partnerships with trusted local clinics and health initiatives. Our work is led by the needs of these organizations, so volunteers are placed where they are genuinely wanted and can contribute responsibly. Healthcare access in Guatemala is unequal, especially in rural and low-income areas. Volunteers work alongside local professionals supporting mobile clinics, maternal and child health programs, nutrition outreach, sanitation workshops, and public health initiatives. Ethical volunteering is central: you will never work beyond your training but will gain hands-on, ground-level experience, learning how community-led healthcare operates. We carefully match each volunteer based on Spanish level, experience, interests, and time commitment. Some placements require medical training or stronger language skills, while others suit students or those exploring a future in healthcare. This immersive program offers a chance to witness challenges firsthand, assist meaningful projects, and contribute to lasting, locally driven impact while learning from the people shaping healthcare in their communities.

A Warm and Relaxed Volunteer Experience

March 22, 2026by: Jeanne Boubal - Germany

Program: Volunteer to Empower HIV-Affected Women in Tailoring, Kisumu

7

I had a wonderful experience volunteering here. The environment is friendly and welcoming, and the women are very supportive and happy to have volunteers around. Communication can sometimes require patience since not everyone speaks fluent English, but it is still easy to connect and work together. The work itself is relaxed, so you have enough time to also explore the local area. During my stay I was able to visit places like Maasai Mara, Ndere Island, Kit Mikayi, and Kakamega Rainforest. The community treats you with a lot of respect and appreciation, and you truly feel valued. It was a meaningful and enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for a cultural and volunteer opportunity.
