Intern or volunteer at a public primary or secondary school in Moshi, Kilimanjaro. This program is open to university students majoring in education and qualified educators. Children in primary schools are aged 6 to 15 years (Standards 1 to 7). Common subjects you may teach include English, reading, writing, and mathematics. For younger students (up to Standard 4 or 10 years old), most classes are conducted in Swahili, except for English. If you do not speak Swahili, your teaching will generally be limited to English lessons. From Standard 5 onwards, instruction is a mix of Swahili and English, allowing you to teach additional subjects beyond English. For secondary school levels (ages 16–18, Forms 1 and 2), you can specify the subjects and age groups you want to teach, independently or alongside a local teacher. The city education office will assign you to a school within the city or district of Moshi based on your preferences. There is a particular demand for volunteers/interns who can teach science subjects at the secondary school level.

Led by local NGO Twiga Vision, this initiative supports the education, development, and well-being of children aged 2 to 12 from vulnerable backgrounds. Volunteers work hand-in-hand with local teachers in a partner daycare, offering support in early childhood care, creative learning, and remedial classes for sponsored children aged 6–12.
