Wonderful experience
August 28, 2025by: Léon Le Goïc - FranceMy time at Kyosei was an incredible experience. I met wonderful people with whom it was a real pleasure to share ideas and perspectives in order to support the students. Many thanks to the school staff, the teachers, and the children for welcoming me so warmly!
Hi Leon, Thank you sincerely for taking the time to share your experience with us — and what a beautiful reflection it is. Your time at Kyosei Foundation was just as meaningful to us as it clearly was to you. You arrived with an open heart and a genuine desire to make a difference — and that is exactly what you did. The school staff, our teachers, and most importantly our children were all better for having had you with them. The exchange of ideas and perspectives you described is at the very heart of what we believe volunteering should be — not just one person giving, but everyone growing together. You embodied that beautifully. We wish you every success and happiness in all your future endeavours, Leon. And should your path ever lead you back to Arusha and the slopes of Kilimanjaro — you will always have a place with us at Kyosei. With deep gratitude and warm regards, Mr. Steven Saning’o Founder & Executive Director — Kyosei Foundation Arusha, Tanzania.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to volunteer at Kyosei?
The fee is $70 per week and covers accommodation and all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) on weekdays and weekends throughout your stay. This doesn't cover flights, visas, and other activities you might like to participate in (safaris, climbing Kilimanjaro, etc.)
Where do volunteers live?
We welcome volunteers into our home. They stay in a private room and have three local meals daily. We kindly ask for a minimum contribution of $50 per week to sustain our operations and ensure your comfort. This fee goes toward supporting our family, covering the costs of meals, water, and electricity.
Volunteers can also stay in hostels throughout Arusha at their own expense.
What does a volunteer's day look like?
A day of volunteering starts at the local school at 9:00, where you teach and assist the teachers. You could also participate in community development projects. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at 10:00 and lunch at 13:30. School ends at around 16:00, then you can return to the accommodation via our bus.
You’re completely free after school. You can explore the city, stroll around the village, or even come with us to watch a football game!
What can volunteers do on weekends?
Arusha is truly stunning! You can spend weekends with other volunteers, exploring Mount Meru Waterfalls, Lake Duluti, and Chemka Hot Springs. You can climb majestic Mount Meru if you're feeling adventurous. We're also near Moshi and Kilimanjaro, offering opportunities to climb and admire the awe-inspiring peak up close. You can also enjoy a safari tour in the Serengeti, the world's most beautiful national park!
