With up to ten other international volunteers you will teach English to children, teachers and other community leaders, encourage and support women’s empowerment and work alongside HIV/AIDS organizations to help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. Volunteers will sing, dance, play and help the children to develop their creative skills through the mediums of drawing, coloring and painting. You will help with the schools’ general maintenance to provide a pleasant learning environment for its students. You will work among our many different projects. We organize legal internships and volunteer assignments at various NGOs and law firms in Tanzania. Widows Encouragement & HIV/AIDS Foundation (WEHAF) is an NGO based in Arusha, Tanzania, working to uplift vulnerable women, widows, and children affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty. Since 2017, we have been creating opportunities for empowerment, education, and sustainable development through community-driven programs. Volunteers at WEHAF get involved in a wide range of activities depending on their interests and skills. Want to help stop gender-based violence and support women's rights? This program gives you the chance to take real action by educating communities about family planning, HIV prevention, and female rights—especially in rural Maasai areas. You'll work directly with safe homes for girls who have escaped forced marriages, rape, or other forms of violence. Through outreach in schools and villages, you’ll help raise awareness and empower local women and girls to claim their rights and live free from harm. Most volunteers join Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., leaving you plenty of time to explore Tanzania.
