Placement on Horse Ranches and Stud Farms in Ireland

In Ireland, we can help you land a placement on horse ranches, stud farms and riding stables, offering you free accommodation and meals in exchange for work! You will not only do the whole day what you love most, but you will also learn how to get more independent and maybe launch your equine-related career! What is this placement about? Did you know that 53,000 people in Ireland are currently employed in the sport horse sector? In addition, many people in Ireland have horses as a hobby. We offer internships on a variety of horse farms - from stud farms with many employees to small family farms, riding schools and family breeders who train their own young stock and participate in local tournaments and competitions. How can you get involved? Barn jobs include simple grooming, feeding 2-3 times per day, mucking stalls and paddocks, filling and cleaning water buckets, turning horses out and bringing them in, sweeping the yard etc. Depending on your experience, you can also ride horses. Did you know that there are even stables in Ireland that run multi-day riding events at Olympic level? You will work 5 days a week for about 40-45 hours and have 2 days off a week.

My internship at Old Mill Farm

December 28, 2022by: Annika Eichhorn - GermanyProgram: Farm Work in Ireland

From small puppies to big horses, there was just about everything. There were puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, pigs, donkeys, goats and horses. My job was to take care of the animals. I was allowed to muck out places, feed animals, take pictures of dogs, pet animals and be there for the animals. Each has its story and each wants only one thing: love. Those were wonderful 3 months and I was allowed to take care of one dog at a time and went for a walk with him early in the morning and went around again in the evening. The best moment for everyone was when the animals found a new home.
