The Eco-Volunteer Program encompasses a range of activities conducted in a group. The majority of these tasks are field activities, making this an ideal program for volunteers who like to stay outside and who enjoy physical activities such as the following. Tree Inventory: Study the biodiversity in different areas of the reserve to assess forest well-being and understand the distribution of fruit tree species for releasing rescued native birds. Garden Days: Help out in gardening, construction, or maintenance of the reserve's grounds. This is hard but rewarding work! Mushroom Inventory: We search for new species of mushrooms to identify, photograph, and collect their spore prints, which are like a mushroom's fingerprint. In addition, we conduct searches at night to find bioluminescent mushrooms lighting up the floor in an Avatar-like fashion. Mammal Monitoring via Camera Traps: We have cameras filming 24/7 in the forest, but all the data needs sorting. Volunteers are tasked with watching the footage, organizing the photos of mammals, and identifying the species. Fish Inventory: Understand the biodiversity of species in our rivers.

Experience hands-on field research related to the conservation of savannah ecosystems in the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly called Swaziland). Although savannahs are well-represented in African conservation areas, they are subjected to increasing degradation as a result of human influences, including land use and climate change. Well known for large charismatic game such as elephants, rhinos, and lions, there are a variety of smaller species that are threatened and are arguably more critical to the functioning of savannahs. Depending on priorities and active studies at the time of participation, volunteers may study vegetation, bats, hyenas, small predators (like mongoose, genets, and jackal), rodents, ungulates (such as giraffe and antelope), reptiles, birds, and other plant and animal life in Eswatini’s Lubombo Conservancy. They will examine the interface among commercial agriculture, rural communities, and protected areas in this Southern African region and learn from our experienced conservationists. They will be based at our Savannah Research Centre and camp in the private Mbuluzi Game Reserve, working at the Mlawula Nature Reserve and Hlane Royal National Park located nearby.

Did you know that 53,000 people in Ireland are currently employed in the sport horse sector? In addition, many people in Ireland have horses as a hobby. We offer internships on a variety of horse farms - from stud farms with many employees to small family farms, riding schools and family breeders who train their own young stock and participate in local tournaments and competitions. How can you get involved? Barn jobs include simple grooming, feeding 2-3 times per day, mucking stalls and paddocks, filling and cleaning water buckets, turning horses out and bringing them in, sweeping the yard etc. Depending on your experience, you can also ride horses. Improve Spanish fluency while volunteering in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Participants will be grouped based on their current level of Spanish and will spend 20 hours of lessons per week.
