If you have a passion for biodiversity and environmental protection, we have the perfect opportunity waiting for you.

Over the course of this reforestation and biodiversity internship, you’ll become a green-fingered wizard, building up a repertoire of skills in the field. The main goal of this exciting project is to reforest an area of land spanning 27 hectares. You’ll be in charge of looking after the forest and monitoring the species of trees, plants, and animals found there. The data you collect will form part of the monthly reports and will help to shape the content for the organization’s communications and TV show. You’ll be part of a passionate, driven team of nature enthusiasts, finding ways to create a beautiful, thriving natural environment rich in biodiversity.

Biodiversity Internship - Santarém, Portugal

This past summer, I had the amazing opportunity to intern with SOS Animal at a sanctuary in Santarem, Portugal. Overall, everything exceeded my expectations! The sanctuary was beautiful and the community there was very warm and friendly. If interested in any aspect of wildlife or just have a love for animals I would highly recommend indulging in this opportunity. The volunteer schedule was very flexible and left plenty of room t explore various cities.

Do I need to be able to speak Portuguese for this internship?

You will only need to be able to speak English for this internship, but Portuguese/Spanish may be a bonus.

Do I need my own vehicle for this internship?

No, you don’t need a vehicle for the duration of your internship. There are bicycles on site which may be used to explore the local area, and each week interns will travel to town to buy groceries and anything else they need/want.
