Everyone on the GoEco team was very responsive and easy to communicate with. From start to finish, this group was very helpful, as well as the other workers within the shelter. I would definitely do another program if the opportunity presents itself.

Because of the bushfire in Australia, it freaked me out but all the supporters from GoEco put my feeling relieved and also I’m proud of myself I could be part of this project!! It was different situation than usual, but i will never forget about this experience!

This was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I loved getting to know the staff and having fun while also getting the job done. I got to engage with animals that I’ve only dreamed of seeing. Everyone apart of this project were so kind. I came to Australia to do this volunteering to gain knowledge and experience with animals, I got more than that. I formed bonds with the animals and the people there. I highly recommend volunteering through this project.

My daughter and I had a fantastic time working with animals in Australia. The work was hard but rewarding, and the interaction with the animals was priceless. We thoroughly enjoyed our local host and the employees at the wildlife sanctuary.

Talking to the staff at the project and learning about the culture was amazing! Oscar and the rest of the staff/assistants did a fantastic job running the project and making it a wonderful experience!

My most memorable moment from my entire experience is when I was patrolling the beaches at night and we saw a turtle laying eggs; I was given an opportunity to rub her shell, and because the turtle swam through bioluminescence, her shell lit up.

I really loved the experience. Everything about it was memorable and amazing besides the mosquitos, but it is the jungle after all. The staff were very helpful with me and my college project and I had loads of fun. The pictures on the GoECO website were kind of misleading as people were holding animals like macaws and turtle hatchlings, as it would be least likely to experience that, but overall I don't regret this trip at all.

Interaction with the lions on property was amazing. I learned things about the animals, the environment and nature the whole time I was there. A better breakfast should be provided. Being charged for soft drinks was unfair. The cost to get into a back from town is expensive for those who have limited funds.

I experienced so incredibly much at the wildlife center, there is no most memorable moment. Every day was full of little and big great moments. Waking up with the roar from lions and hyenas, flying vultures and eagles on my arm, feeding Owls,. playing with Cheetah cubs, the great view on the mountains, bush rides through the park, being responsible for little Buschbabys- and the stuff was extraordinary nice and are the reason, why this place is so special.

I enjoyed being there and every day was a new adventure. It was a cool way to experience the wild life of Australia in a special and fun way. We fed the kangaroos and I fed a mom roo with a joey in her pocket and the Joey tried to play with my hand.

The most memorable experiences I had with the people I worked together with. Whether it was playing cards with the Rangers on Rinca island or the locals trying to teach me their traditional dances.

I think the walks to and from the tortoise center were always amazing. Being able to locally snorkel and hike were spectacular. I also enjoyed the local snorkel trips. recommend that one does not do door to door in Isabella in one go without stopovers on the way or return.

I loved everything about this project! I loved cooking and then bringing food to the people in need. I also really enjoyed hearing stories both from other volunteer organisations as well as the homeless people themselves. I think this is a great project for anyone who wants to see the sometimes not so pretty side of Sydney, but one that is definitely very rewarding.

I loved hanging out with my new furry friends everyday :) Having lunch with the kangaroos, cleaning up the wombat enclosure and giving a sneaky pat to the sleepy koalas, really made my experience worthwhile. What I also liked about this project was that it wasn't just Australian animals, but that they had lot's of others too, including birds, farm animals and even an alligator. We were always kept busy taking care of the park and it's animals, working closely with the rangers and interacting with park visitors. Our accommodation was also close to Newcastle, which was a nice change from the busy Sydney city center. Make sure you check out the wineries nearby on your day off or take a dip on a quiet beach. Definitely a great choice to start my Aussie adventures!

My experience was absolutely amazing! Had such a good time, what I loved most was how much interaction I had with the animals! Everyday was so cool! Even though sometimes it would be very hard work it pays off by being able to be with the animals!

This was the best part of my life, first time traveling. I was nervous and a little scared but everyone has been so nice and supportive throughout the whole process. I've experienced some amazing places, people and absolutely love the culture. Wish I could have stayed longer and spent more times with the turtles though! Will definitely be back to bali that's for sure, x :)

I loved my time as a volunteer, of course there’s ups and downs but it’s all part of the experience!! Thank you GoEco for making this possible. For me, maybe it could be useful to have even more insight about the project and what it takes to be the best volunteer that you can be!

This was a once in a lifetime experience that I am so glad to have been a part of! I was very nervous being a first time traveller but the administration team made everything so easy and worry free! The island was amazing and the program was absolutely wonderful! I am so glad to have made a difference in these turtles lives. I definitely would visit again!

The 2 weeks I have spent in Sri Lanka allowed me to look into the lives of the local people and truly see the impact of sea pollution on turtles. Definitely worth the trip to make to be more aware of the environmental damage being done.

Working here was absolutely amazing, I loved it so much I have already planned to back next year for 6 months. Meeting new people, the monkeys and the bonds you make made the experience unforgettable!

For two years I have been with GoEco, and every time I go somewhere I am never left disappointed. The team is there with any questions you have. They definitely have the best prices and truly want you to have the utmost best experience. Volunteering is definitely the way to go if you travel, and I will continue to use GoEco in the near future!

The 5 weeks I have spent in the houses have changed my life. I already miss the coordinators and, at the same time, the other volunteers. In Bali, I have created my second family and made friends for life. I will be back in Nusa Penida, to see the turtles and, who knows, even volunteer again with GoEco.

I thought the packing list was really useful and would recommend it be shared with all potential volunteers. Not sure why we couldn't have chosen a location in advance. Would have been useful for planning additional travel. I have to say thanks to everyone on the project. It was a fantastic experience and one I will never forget!

I really enjoyed myself. I learned a lot about myself and about interacting with others. I came home with an appreciation for animals and the work it takes to conserve their populations. I also learned more about South African Culture, Politics, and Economy. I would definitely go back.

Best experience of my life. Antelope park is a must for any animal lover! Hopefully the first pride of lions will be released at the end of this year! The people were hands down the best part. I felt welcomed as soon as I got there like I was a part of the family. The other volunteers were amazingly kind people from all over the world that I learned so much from. The staff at Antelope Park made the entire place glow with happiness. Everywhere you looked there were smiling faces always ready to ask you how your day was. I got to know a lot of staff on a very personal level and that was just in my short 2 weeks. I feel like they are all of my friends and my trip wouldn't have been near as good without them. I plan on coming back to Antelope Park in the near future just to visit all of the people. They are the reason I fell in love with Zimbabwe.

I have never done anything like this before and I didn't know what to expect, but I was ready for an adventure and I got one! It was so rewarding to get to know the baboons and other monkeys and to work to help them get back to the wild where they belong. The work was hard ... it was physical and it was dirty. VERY dirty. And yet, we had fun all the time. We laughed and joked and the time flew by. It felt good to eat a meal and be hungry and know you'd done hard work to earn the meal. It was fascinating to meet people from all over the world and share stories. I bonded with my fellow volunteers quickly and powerfully. I really liked Learning about the amazing animals, working with them hands-on every day, and feeling like I was making a difference. I also really loved meeting so many European volunteers and learning about their lives and culture. And, I can't fail to mention the beauty of South Africa! When I left, I was crying. I will miss them and I will miss Africa and I already miss the monkeys so much, but I will be back!

I loved my whole experience, The owners included us in their lives and family and we were treated well and with respect, I will never forget my time there and have every intention of going back someday, hopefully for a longer time! I enjoyed the interaction with the animals the most, as well as learning new things every day and making great new friends.

Never having had babies of my own.....this experience in a way fulfilled that void...these small creatures are sooo human like and depending on you for their needs....putting diapers on them before bed and then feeding and watching their little eyes dart about or look right into your eyes just like a baby was wonderful! The cleaning of the enclosures every morning.... So VERY thorough....and the food preparation and clean up afterwards so very well done...I was very impressed and inspired! we were invited to watch as minor surgery was performed on a Baboon with a broken leg and a Jackal who'd got himself tied up in some wire fencing....feeding the Impala was always a challenge and the bush baby and owls being rehabilitated were also a plus. Friday night was dinner at a nearby restaurant,which was excellent..our babies came too and waited in the little bus for us,in their little night cages. Monday and Wednesday were town days to buy whatever we needed....I only got to experience one of these days in the two weeks I was there....because of unexpected events! Saturday and Sunday nights were around the barbecue for special S.African specialties. 6 of us did get to go to Kruger National Park and camp overnight...our project leader was great ..driving,cooking and guiding!! This trip happened on the last Friday and Saturday and we were told just the day before! Our hosts,Lynn and Bob wanted us to get the most out of our experience both at the volunteer project and South Africa. This is a very serious and well run project with incredibly dedicated people! It is not for the faint hearted. If you love animals and don't mind being pissed and pooed on and getting very,very dirty...cleaning and scrubbing,chopping up and hauling and sorting fruit and veggies.....if you have lots of patience...don't mind taking instructions and being told what to do...AND preferably travelled away from your home country before,so that you don't get homesick...especially if you are very young...this can be an experience of a lifetime!!!! At 71 years of age....I loved it!! Of course the contact with the animals especially the babies was the best...there were around 24 baby Vervet monkeys and around 4 baby Baboons needing constant care....this was so incredible and very hands on..especially as many nights we had our own 4 babies to take with us to our room for the night!!! The first few days are overwhelming...I had expected this...but very soon you get into the routine. The owners,Lynn and Bob treated us like family and the manager and project leaders were outstanding...dedicated,knowledgeable,patient with our questions etc It is a life changing experience and one I wouldn't have missed!

I was on the Big 5 research at Thanda Game reserve. Every day we would go on drives around the reser've to monitor animal behavior and count the animals. It was a great experience seeing the animals in their natural habitat. The drives were fantastic. The organization was also great, giving us ample time to mingle with other volunteers.

It was an amazing trip. I stayed on Curieuse, an island designated a national park by the Seychelles. It was incredible to live for a month on an island that tourists could only visit for a few hours during the day. That made it apparent how much deeper ... I loved everything else. Mostly the sea turtles and being able to get so up close and personal with them. I can't imagine any other situation where I'd be able to do that.

I absolutely loved it. From the moment I got there I was made to feel so welcome. The staff are all so friendly as well, they all remember the small things about you and it makes you feel a real part of the team. At 11-12 each day you get 'Animal Time'. You stop working and literally just hang out with the animals for an hour, it's great and you soon bond with them really well and get to know all of the animal's personalities. There is lots of hard work to do too. Lots of sweeping and chopping down plants but all-in-all it adds up and the place ends up looking great when we all work together. I was lucky enough to have lots of great outings while I was there. The first was a Vervet Monkey Release which was so great to watch, and really made all of us get an insight of the main purpose of this place. Next I was invited to go to Matopos for a 2 night stay to reset our traps, check the camera traps and track the collared Leopard and Honey Badger around. This was a LOT of hard work, leaving at 6am and not returning until after dark. I loved every second of it though, getting the full nature experience and I learnt so much. We ended up staying 3 nights to get everything done. Three days later we got a call from the man who owns the farm where the traps are. We had caught a Spotted Hyena, something we were aiming for! We quickly got the dart gun and packed up the truck. When we got there, it took a while to set everything up and get the dart gun and collar ready, but it was so interesting to watch! We finally darted it and acted very quickly. Got it onto the pack of the truck and began to monitor it. I was checking it's temperature constantly, we were taking turns in checking the breathing rate and had a monitor to check the heart. We got the collar on, measured it all up and before we knew it, an hour was up and it was starting to wake. We put it back in the cage and once it had fully woken up we released it. What an experience!!! Next I was VERY lucky to go back for an overnight trip again (which turned into 2 nights) and we went on a 8km hike to track where the Hyena had last been shown on GPS. We found a den and lots of signs of Hyena, but none that day unfortunately. Another exhausting, but incredible and educational experience. My favorite part of the trip was going to Matopos for the research!!! And catching the Spotted Hyena to put a tracking collar on it. Everything revolved around Matopos I couldn't get enough of. I loved my time in and out of the wildlife orphanage. I can't wait to go back!

I had an amazing time at my project, it was a surreal experience and one that I am grateful for. I was apprehensive about travelling on my own but once I arrived at the project I was made to feel welcomed and it quickly felt like home. It was my birthday whilst I was out there and I can safely say it was my best birthday ever! All the staff joined in with the celebrations and I was sang happy birthday in 7 different languages! I loved my time there and I miss everyone dearly. Everything was great, the atmosphere, the people, the activities and the animals!

It's hard to describe briefly the experience of the project. It touch so many aspect for you as a person that you don't know where to start. If it is the first time you take a project like this, it will most likely surprise you and give you enrichment on aspect you didn't expect at all. For example I could have never imagine that the bond with the people there (staff and other volunteer) would be so strong and beautiful. I suggest the experience to anyone who is considering it. There is no much to say before: if you are already considering going it means you can go and gain a lot from it. The people were great: the feeling of being part of that incredible group of nice people and be guided by a crazy nice, open and competent staff.

I mostly enjoyed learning about and interacting with the monkey's as well as observing certain procedures within the clinic department which I found very interesting. Also the excursions which were offered were excellent; especially the trip to Kruger National Park.

The overall experience of seeing a new culture and lifestyle within the surrounding population was great. On the trip itself I not only got to experience the style of teaching within the school systems, but I also learned about the foundation of the project itself. The particular project we were on was founded on the ideals to repopulate the lion species in Africa. I went into the project itself without much prior knowledge of the issues face overthere; as I came back I was able to explain how the program started as well as its future goals. In addition to the experience I met lifelong friends from around the world!

I enjoyed being able to work in conservation and to learn about what is really required, what type of work needs to be done. The host family was amazing, very accommodating and helpful. I got to the airport and the program leaders were there waiting for me, they were very friendly and warm and asked me a lot of questions as I also asked them some questions. The house we stayed at was very nice and there were quite a few other volunteers, I was one of two new people so after dinner we were given a brief run-down of what to expect and what options we had for some excursions for the weekends. Throughout the following two weeks I got to learn more of how the project works and what kinds of challenges not only the volunteers faced but the co-ordinators as well. The experience working in close proximity to animals was awesome, just being in that type of environment is pretty cool. We prepared food, fed them, cleaned out the stables (elephants) cut down alien vegetation, fixed a road, gathered bedding grass for cheetahs and materials for nesting for the vultures. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience although I was only there for two weeks.

Overall, I had a really great experience with goeco and the wildlife sanctuary. The project turned out to be everything I wanted and more. People couldn't believe the pictures I have from the trip and all the animal encounters. Many people seriously doubted how close I would be with the animals so I showed the them pictures. It is hard to put in words how life changing this opportunity was. I will be back to South Africa some day all thanks to GoEco. During this project I enjoyed most spending time with the animals so close. It was such an incredible experience to work with the lions, elephants and cheetahs. Another thing i really enjoyed was the bond I shared with the other volunteers. By the end of my two week, I made some lifelong friends and memories I will never forget!

I enjoyed playing with the honey badgers and the conservation talk.You wake up at 6:N/A0, do your rounds at 7am. Then breakfast and we all meet for "big jobs" which include cleaning up the animals' enclosures. Then lunch and an afternoon break until 4pm when you do rounds again. Then dinner about 7. Unless you have aviary...

The program was an incredible experience. The staff are great and have the student's safety and best interests as their priority. As for packing, there is no need for volunteers to bring sleeping bags. I would recommend that volunteers bring several outfits to go out (to bars). Students have evenings and weekends off and we went out several times. Overall, I learned a ton and gained experiences I never would be able to anywhere else. The program has a great variety of small animals, livestock, and wildlife.

I have never volunteered before and never worked with animals. I am a big animal lover (2 cats, 2 big dogs) so this is why I chose this project in Koh Samui. I got to see a paralysed dog up and walking again within the 3 weeks I was there as well as bathing some dogs with mange which helped their skin which was itchy . Getting the trust of a 3 legged mumma dog to let me pick up her 6 week old puppies and moving her to another enclosure to playing with some gorgeous little 4 week old puppies. Trying to get cat selfies was fun as well as brushing and bathing the puppies. I really enjoyed it. I loved the animal shelter and the interaction with the animals. The project volunteer at Koh Samui was awesome and great fun and we always had such random converstations on the way to the project but I loved it.

I would recommend Thanda reserve to everyone. It was an amazing experience and I wish I could of stayed longer. I loved everything that I experienced with GoEco. The staff, volunteers and being able to see animals daily were all amazing.

I was blessed to meet the amazing people and incredible animals. I had an incredible month in beautiful Gansbaai working with my favorite creatures on this planet. I am truly blessed to have seen Great Whites in their natural habitat. I will never forget the people and experiences I encountered. I have made life long friends from all over the world and have even found a new place to call my 'second home'. I will return to Gansbaai as often as possible. South Africa is a truly beautiful place and it will always hold a soft spot in my heart.

I am not your traditional 'student' on school leave, or a recent high school graduate taking time off to explore. I am a 32 year old working professional who took vacation and personal time away from "office life" in search for a new perspective... and did I ever find it! Serving the sea turtle wildlife refuge in Camaronal afforded me the opportunity to not only assist with monitoring the turtle hatchery and liberation of baby turtles to the sea, but to also meet volunteers from all over the world, continue to use/improve my knowledge and speaking of the Spanish language, and, most importantly, taking time to reflect on just how big this world is and what more I can do to serve. Each day I treated as a new "stop on my journey" to perspective. What I mean by 'perspective' is that I have focused the last 10 years of my life on work, work, work... to the point where I rarely took advantage of time off to travel or embark on outside hobbies and interests. I lived and breathed a work-work balance as opposed to a work-life balance. I finally recognized this was not healthy and that a change was desperately needed to regain control of my life. Giving of myself, both physically and mentally, as well as my time to serve a greater cause opened up my eyes and heart to a whole world that needs my kind of service. From the first day to the last day at the Camaronal project, the smile on my face you see in the pictures never faded! I came back to the States feeling much more relaxed and calm, and have found myself reflecting and giving thanks each day before I ever get to the office. For those mid-year career professionals who find themselves in a similar 'funk' that I found myself in, remember it is NEVER EVER too late to seek out a whole new perspective on life, however that may be. In my case, it was removing myself from my natural, comfortable element and giving myself to serve a greater cause. I am so excited I took this opportunity and plan to see out additional service projects annually!

This was by far the best experience of my life, two weeks has never gone by so quick. In this short amount of time I grew such a strong attachment to the animals and people. My only regret is not staying longer, I can't wait to go back.

The diverse wildlife sanctuaries was a really cool way to get immersed in the local conservation efforts and to be involved first hand in a variety of conservation efforts. Spending each day on a different project really helped me appreciate the scope of what was going on and see the different needs of each project. We also got to help educate local school children which was a nice touch to see some of the conservation in action. To make it even better the town of Hartbeespoort where all the projects are is stunning and such a fun place to explore.

This was a fabulous opportunity - from the beginning to the end. It is a great way to learn about pandas and their care, as well as also learning about china, Chinese culture and the people. Yes you will work hard - but this will be well worth the effort. I would recommend this trip to anyone. Go soon and discover it got yourself!!

Volunteering on a Wildlife Reserve and Safari in Israel’s Negev was an amazing way to travel, engage in meaningful volunteer work in Israel, and be outside in nature helping to take care of animals. This Go Eco experience allowed me to learn more about Israel’s society and culture and challenge myself to learn new things in a beautiful outdoor environment. From the first time that I viewed GoEco’s colorful and inviting website to the time I that I boarded the plane to start my adventure was a short time span of about two months. My quick decision to go with Go Eco was due to their professional and friendly staff who guided me through the first initial inquiries on the phone. Go Eco also helped me coordinate this trip so that my cousin who lives in another country could also share in this adventure. We both easily booked our exciting volunteer experience, and our flights and hostel stays. In the weeks leading up to our departure, my cousin and I had fun planning and booking our weekend trips via email, as we learned we would be off during the weekends. I recommend that anyone volunteering book amazing and really fun tours while you are in the beautiful country of Israel. It is super easy to get around by public transportation from one end of the country to the other, and you can stay in hostels to cut down on costs. You will feel safe exploring different cities and regions of the country. Go Eco offers you a discount if you book with an additional person, and now my cousin and I have this shared memory together to look back on. Our volunteer experience started in Jerusalem with an Orientation Tour for all of the volunteers led by Yan. We were both happily surprised by his wonderful tour. We had previously toured Jerusalem separately, but on Yan’s comprehensive and all day tour, we saw many things we had not seen before and had a great time meeting all of the other volunteers. It also made for an easier transition to the rest of the trip. For our Hai Bar Project during those two weeks, our group of volunteers consisted of all female professionals (lawyer, professor, TV coordinator, engineer) and we were living and working together in the middle of nowhere on a safari with park rangers. We bonded and enjoyed meals together at night. We quickly adapted to the routine of the safari and reserve. The rangers were very kind and funny. It was challenging and interesting to be part of their work team. It was up to each volunteer as well to get to know them and ask questions. By working hard you gained their utmost respect right away. Our commute to work was a breath-taking jeep ride through the safari at day break. We would see the sun coming up behind the Red Mountains with Jordan in the background, and see the Orex herd and ostriches starting their day. Most of the mornings were spent on preparing the food, feeding the animals, and cleaning the cages, and helping the rangers on the safari. The afternoons were reserved for other projects that included things like building enclosures or cages, cleaning out certain areas or painting or varnishing picnic tables. There were also night feedings that you could participate in which I really recommend. As is true in any setting, what you put in you get back. I encourage anyone coming here to try new things and ask to go on the night feedings, you get so much out of it. You should also be prepared for hard work and living in a cabin, that although really nicely furnished, is in the middle of a safari. The rangers would teach us about the specifics of each animal species and how to approach them when feeding or handling certain animals. It was a treat to work on an actual safari and live right on the safari itself overlooking such a beautiful desert landscape. Highlights included cooking our dinner at night under the stars in our outside fire pit and getting to know things about the animals, geographical area, and Israel as a country from the rangers. We were also able to get in close proximity with some of the animals like the parrots, owls, porcupines, eagles, and lizards. The ostriches lived literally right next to the volunteer house and we could hear their calls at night. There were so many great take away experiences from my volunteer time at the Hai Bar, that it is difficult to name just a few. It far exceeded any expectations. Some highlights for me were the opportunity to live and work in a breathtaking setting, the new friendships I made with people I am still keeping in touch with, the chance to combine exciting travel with volunteer work, the fun camaraderie between volunteers and the Hai Bar park rangers, challenging myself in new settings and with the physical demands of the day-to-day jobs, knowing that I was directly helping the environment and animals of Israel, and recharging by being a team player in a completely new work environment. I highly recommend this volunteer experience.

This trip was the best thing I have ever done! I flew into Bangkok where we stayed the first couple of nights. We got to explore the city and tour temples. We were immersed into the culture. Then we went to the elephant village. We stayed in the village and were instantly welcomed into the community. We got the opportunity to connect with the kids and the village people. We would do work in the morning and afternoon. We made elephant poo paper, cut bamboo, plant banana trees, mix cement, clean elephant areas, feed elephants and walk elephants. It was hard work but it was so much fun! The staff were great! I always felt welcome and they were there to answer any questions. The other volunteers are now people I call friends! It was a great experience and I will cherish it forever. I am already planning my next trip to Thailand.

I have always wanted to work with pandas, I'm so glad I got to have this experience! We started with a couplets exploring Chengdu, including visiting the panda research centre there before heading to our base. Every day we started with cleaning a panda enclosure then coming back for three feedings a day. We got to feed our panda through the enclosure bars, so up close and personal! Lots if free time to watch pandas, read, play cards etc. Also opportunities to learn Chinese and calligraphy, play mah Jong watch movies and more in the evenings. Food was delicious and rooms were nice, shared with another volunteer. Highly recommend this program, I miss the pandas already!

The staff, volunteers and accommodations at Antelope Park were wonderful. I have a heart and a passion for serving communities as well as a huge love for wildlife, with this program I got the best of both! Being able to go out into the local community to teach children and lend support to the drop inn center and orphanage was incredibly rewarding. The community program coordinators at African Impact (this program is through African Impact, GoEco did the booking) encouraged us to jump right in and provided the necessary materials to succeed, I was able to teach a classroom on conservation efforts right away. The lion and elephant encounters on the weekend were an experience I will never forget, especially the night encounter! I walked away with a high level of compassion and knowledge for Zimbabwe, I can honestly say, 2 weeks was not enough!

Ever since I was little, I have loved anything and everything about monkeys. Volunteering with monkeys has always been a dream of mine. When I read about the Monkey & Wildlife Rehabilitation Center project, it seemed ideal for me. Going to South Africa for three weeks and completing the project only confirmed this. I had the time of my life! Although I have always been crazy about monkeys, I had never had any experience working with them before. While at the Center, I learned so much about different monkey species. I was introduced to wildlife conservation techniques, because that is a really important aspect of providing the best rehabilitation care for the animals. I worked closely with other volunteers in groups to complete various tasks. We did things such as go harvesting, preparing food for the animals, taking the youngest baboons to the river, sitting in the enclosures of the baby monkeys, maintaining the center, caring for the baby monkeys, and monitoring the monkeys. There was not a dull day at my project. The monkeys always put a smile on my face and provided so much love to all of the volunteers. I made amazing friendships with others from all over the world, which was a unique opportunity on its own. I was able to do two excursions through the Center: I spent two days at Kruger National Park and also went on a Panorama Tour. These excursions allowed me to discover some of South Africa’s beautiful nature and wildlife. There are truly only positive things that I can say about my time at the Monkey & Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Every experience allowed me to grow and to learn something new. The connections that I developed with the monkeys during my time there are unforgettable…I will cherish them in my heart forever!

I had an absolutely amazing time at the Monkey & Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in South Africa. The three weeks that I spent there were life-changing for me. I was able to meet incredible volunteers from all over the world and was able to care for different monkey species. I learned about the basic care and rehabilitation of Vervet monkeys, Chacma baboons, and Samango monkeys. I monitored, fed, and cared for monkeys, learned about conservation techniques, and had an active introduction to wildlife conservation in South Africa. In addition, I contributed to maintaining the center so that it could provide the best rehabilitation for the domesticated and orphaned monkeys. Despite the different backgrounds and cultures of the volunteers, we were all able to work together effectively. By the end of my time, I felt like we had become one big family. The staff at the center is outstanding. Not only do they work exceptionally hard to provide the best care for the animals, but they also make sure that the needs of the volunteers are met. Through activities such as family meals and weekly “braais,” all of the volunteers at the center get to know one another. The volunteers are divided into different groups that all work together on various chores. Some of the chores include cleaning out the enclosures, feeding, monitoring, harvesting branches and grass, and preparing food for the animals. One of my favorite aspects of my South African project was “baby day.” On this day, one particular group was in charge of taking care of the baby monkeys. We did things such as feed them milk bottles, spend time in their enclosures, take the baboons to the river, and prepare night boxes. “Baby time” allowed me to develop a connection with the youngest monkeys, which was a really unique opportunity for me. Whether it was a having a monkey sit on my head or fall asleep in my lap, I will always cherish the special memories that I have of my time at the Monkey & Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. I really had the time of my life!

I volunteered with GoEco in the pre-veterinary wildlife program in Chintsa, South Africa. I was a bit nervous before heading to South Africa, for my first time out of the country alone. However GoEco prepared me for my trip well in advance, which made for a smooth transition. We were provided with pickup at the airport upon arrival, and transportation to the volunteer house on site. Immediately upon arrival I felt comfortable and had a great connection with both staff and other volunteers. Workdays varied in length, and were always filled with a vast amount of veterinary experience. Whether it was working in a township dipping dogs, or participating in a helicopter capture on a game reserve; each day was unexpected. During my time in South Africa I gained such a wide array of experience that would have never been possible at home. I participated in several game counts, tested cows and sheep for fertility, treated horses and mules in the area of Coffee Bay, and experienced both a net and helicopter capture. The pre-veterinary wildlife program provided a great deal of hands on experience. The program also allowed for time to travel and see other regions in South Africa. From traveling to Coffee Bay to treat horses, and traveling to Cape Town for a weekend off; I saw a great deal of the country in just four weeks. With the help of GoEco and the team of the pre-veterinary wildlife program I gained a once in a lifetime experience, as well as the confidence needed before applying to veterinary school!

When I look back at my experience volunteering on the Lion Project in Victoria Falls, I am in awe of what I did! It was the adventure of a lifetime and one of the best things I have ever done. Each morning we rose before sunrise and walked the lion cubs for a couple of hours. This was one of my favourite things to do. After breakfast we carried out various chores including cleaning the lion enclosures, preparing their food and administering medication. Some days following lunch and the second lion walk of the day, we would make toys for the cubs and watch them play. Other days we were taught how to carry out research, track animals and identify trees and plants. We had lessons on local culture, history and language. Days are jammed packed with activities. On Saturdays we visited the Rose of Charity Orphanage and played soccer with the kids. We visited a local village where they proudly showed us how they prepare meals and tend to their crops. As volunteers we helped install special lighting systems that are being put around kraals in the rural communities to discourage potential attacks from wild lions. One weekend several of us volunteers visited Chobe National Park in Botswana, where we went on a river cruise and game drive. It was an amazing experience getting up close to giraffes, elephants, hippos, impala, kudu, buffalo, crocodiles and warthogs wallowing in the mud. You cannot leave without witnessing the magnificent Victoria Falls. It is one of the most awesome sights I have ever seen. From here adrenaline junkies can get their fix with zip line, gorge swing, bungee jumping, rafting or swimming with the crocs. My boyfriend and I finally got up the courage on our last weekend to do the Tandem Gorge Swing. Pure adrenaline!! Absolutely terrifying! I actually started screaming on the platform even before we jumped. I fell in love with the lion cubs, the people, the staff and the country. I made lifelong friends from all parts of the world. I booked this trip many months in advance with Go Eco. Originally the research was to be a Thanda Reserve but was changed last minuet to Greater National Kruger Park. This meant different airports, changing plane tickets, canceling overnight reservations, a mess. Go Eco, in particular Shira stepped in and took care of everything and kept in contact with me on a daily basis until she had everything changed at no cost to me. I did not encounter any further issues and was so happy with their commitment to making My Volunteer experience everything it could be even before I arrived. Once on the ground I was immediately met at the airport in JoBurg, swept away in a car and taken to MoAfrika for an overnight stay. I met fellow travelers on this adventure and this overnight trip created a bond between us that was so much fun! Once we arrived at Dumala Lodge in Hoedsprite we were shown to our living areas, shown around and had a group meeting where we were given assignments and what we could expect in the bush, in community and on our days off. The second night in we were in the bush in our bush camp, doing game drives (4 in a 24 hour period) filling out our research sheets, photographing and videoing for various documentation and all I can say is WOW! Community work was humbling and left me wanting to stay in Africa longer. Go Eco was wonderful. They took care of every detail, everything they said they would do they did and really that is the most important part to the start and end of your trip, to know as a single female traveler that you can rely on the company you picked to be there if you need them and when you do they follow through and Go Eco did! Just a note, nothing that Go Eco did was caused by either company, it was a decision based by the Thanda Reserve, both companies really stepped up for their volunteers, Go Eco really went that extra step and it meant so much to me. I will use Go Eco again!

I spent 2 incredible, unforgettable weeks in Indonesia, as part of the GoEco Orangutan Health Project. The staff there was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. I learned a lot about the threats facing Orangutans, including the Palm Oil industry and deforestation. The highlight was the 6 day trek in the jungle collecting plants orangutans feed on for self medication. I really felt I was contributing to the project as there is a great need for more information to be gathered and for further research to be conducted in order to continue learning about orangutan health and how orangutans combat disease. It's a great project and I highly recommend it!

At Antelope Park I did the lion program. I had the best time of my life. We got to walk lions, ride elephants, feed lions, play polocrosse, go canoeing, go on a horse safari and much much more. Even though I was on the lion project, I was still able to spend time at the boys' orphanage and cook for the street kids. My only regret at Antelope Park was that I only signed up for 2 weeks. I can't wait to go back!

Going to Costa Rica was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! I scheduled the trip to be five weeks long: one week taking Spanish classes in San Jose, three weeks doing sea turtle conservation work and another week exploring the country. As my plane took off, I was shaking with both excitement and nervousness for I decided to travel alone. GoEco had a taxi waiting for me at the airport. I was taken to my homestay and had my own room. Each morning, my homestay mother made the most delicious coffee I had ever tasted! Each volunteer was placed in a Spanish class based on skill level. The teachers were wonderful and patient and held a small graduation ceremony when my week was over. Throughout the week, I met three other volunteers going to the same project site and we explored the city. I received a bus voucher through GoEco and made the trip to Camaronal Beach on the Pacific. When we got off the bus, a pick-up truck was waiting to take us to the wildlife preserve. I couldn’t believe the beauty of the countryside! We had orientation our first day of volunteering and settled in to our cabin. We performed beach patrols each night for four hours-and on my very first night, I saw a sea turtle! I had never been somewhere so beautiful. We had a whole beach to ourselves. At night, the stars and moon were so bright we didn’t need flashlights and the waves glowed yellow from plankton. The next three weeks were filled with hard work during the day (building the hatchery, cleaning the beach, maintaining the land) and beach patrols at night. We collected eggs from and tagged six turtles in my time. We had each weekend off and would travel to nearby beaches. We were given breaks throughout the day and would spend them exercising, relaxing on the beach and playing games. The last week of my trip was truly amazing! Two other volunteers and I decided to travel together and we met many other travelers along the way. We went white water rafting, hiking, swimming in natural springs, repelling through waterfalls and zip-lining! I made friends with people from Turkey, England, Belgium, Israel, Canada and other places around the world. I often find myself day dreaming about my experiences in Costa Rica. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Cliche as it sounds, my volunteer trip to the Maldives was absolutely unforgettable! As soon as I arrived I was taken by the beauty of the islands. To get to the island I was staying, me and two other volunteers took a 3 hour boat ride to get there. It was incredibly calm and relaxing and as soon as we reached the island we were greeted by the Coordinator, Stephie. Everybody involved in the project on the island were the kindest, most relaxed and outgoing people you'll ever meet. Day to day volunteering involved morning shift cleaning tanks and feeding the turtles, breakfast at LuLus, snorkel breaks during down time, lunch, relaxing at the house with the other guests, afternoon feeding, and watching movies before bed. Occasional activities involved inspecting the coral gardens, collecting sea grass, visiting the sea cage, beach cleans, weighing, and weekly excursions to other local islands. Each day I learned something I didn't know before and was full of something different. And the people on the island are so welcoming and the kids always make sure to say hi whenever we walk by. My favorite part of the trip would have to be whenever we weighed and measured the turtles, including the babies. The turtles were so cute and I won't ever forget them! My trip was full of experiences that I'll surely pass on to everybody I meet!

I really enjoyed my time at the Moholoholo rehab facility. You really do get a hands-on experience with the animals, every single day. There is a huge variety of animals at the center, that you get to interact with all the time. There is also time every day to visit animals on the outer part of the center, and do other activities like go to the reptile park. Day trips were also provided, to places like Kruger Park, which was amazing. The accommodations and food were awesome, the rooms were extremely clean and well kept, and the food was way better than I ever anticipated. All of the women and people who work there are also super nice and welcoming. Two nights a week we went to dinner out which gave us a chance to socialize which was nice. Overall I would recommend this program, if you're not scared of some hard work that is!

I had a great time in Tel Aviv volunteering with GoEco in the Animal Shelter. Walking the dogs every day was my main task and it’s a really satisfying thing to do. It’s heart warming to watch them play with each other and to see them so happy. I wanted to do something useful during my holiday abroad and GoEco gave me this opportunity. In my free time, I had a lot of fun in Tel Aviv with my new friends. The city and the beach are amazing! It’s nice to shop in Tel Aviv or just walk to one of the markets, the dog parks or the lovely HaYarkon Park. Volunteering in the Animal Shelter in Tel Aviv made my holiday in Israel complete and unforgettable. I really can recommend it!

My experience taking part in this programme through GoEco was so great! Everything was very easy to organise from start to finish and the advice and response time from the GoEco team before, during and after the project was really great. The volunteering experience itself was also amazing. I got to care for sea turtles whilst also making great friends, helping the community and experiencing a completely different way of life. I would recommend it to anyone :)

Volunteering through GoEco in the Seychelles doing environmental conservation will be something I will never forget. The idea of living a lot more basic than normal was a little scary but the minute I arrived at our base on Curieuse island, everything felt right. It was actually quite refreshing to not have all of the daily luxuries like wi-fi, electricity and air conditioning. A “normal day” on Curieuse consisted of waking up around 6 or 6:30 and doing chores until breakfast and then going on our designated surveys. Those surveys were turtle surveys, shark surveys, bird surveys, mangrove surveys or coco de mer surveys! If you were out past lunch, you would pack your own lunch to have out on the survey. After lunch, you might have another survey to do, but you would also have time to relax and play volleyball, or go snorkeling right off our base! You would then have dinner and then have more time to relax, but you would usually just be too exhausted from the day and go straight to bed! My favorite survey was definitely the turtle surveys. I am currently going to school for Marine Biology so it was right up my ally! We would go to the different beaches on the island and look for fresh turtle tracks and crawls, as well as excavate turtle nests that had already hatched! We even came across a few nests that were emerging, as we were there which was incredible! They were literally bubbling up from the sand and the hatchlings of course crawled straight into the water! It was so hard to leave the life we had been living for 2 months, but it was amazing to learn everything we did along side the staff that were so knowledgeable about so many aspects of the surveys. The staff members were fantastic and they were so easy to get along with, as were the rest of the volunteers! After only a week it was like we were a big family! I would highly highly recommend this project for anyone who is willing to get down and dirty and learn a lot about the environment and it’s inhabitants while living in a tropical paradise!

I volunteered at a sea turtle conservation project on the Caribbean side as well as the Pacific side, and I have nothing but great things to say about both! I have a lot of anxiety over little things; so you can imagine how I must of felt before the trip started, knowing nothing about what I was going to experience in the next 6 weeks. But honestly, I have never felt more comfortable or accepted anywhere. I never felt self conscious or like I had to try hard to fit in. The housing family, the workers at the projects, the locals, and the other volunteers made everything feel like home. What amazing people! I am so grateful I got to meet the people I did. As well as the people, of course, there were SEA TURTLES!!!!!!!!! How insane it was to see them up close! You get to touch and work with these huge dinosaurs! They are so beautiful. I even got to go under one while she was laying her eggs and gather them so we could put them in a safer place. Definitely an experience I will never forget. Working with the turtles is so rewarding! Not to mention, while you are doing the work the scenery was breath-taking! The sites, the smells and the noises of the jungle are incredible. I recommend this to anyone who loves the ocean and the creatures in it. You will carry it with you forever! Thanks GoEco!

When I first arrived in South Africa, the program GoEco provided someone to pick me up at the airport, who was there on time waiting for me, to bring me to my volunteer project. The driver was very nice and talked about how much fun I was going to have. I checked in at the front desk when I arrived and was given a tour of the park and was able to rest before attending to a new volunteer meeting later in the evening. The meeting helped me meet the new volunteers and addressed all aspects of the project. For the volunteer work, 6 days out of the week we woke up at 7:30 to take care of the horses and clean the stables and clean out the elephant enclosures. Some mornings you could sign up to go on a walk with the elephants, or you could walk the perimeter of the park to check the fence to make sure it was safe for the animals with no traps. Everything was set on a schedule time wise, but everyday different activities would happen after breakfast, which ranged from seeing a cheetah up close, to feeding lion cubs, and for the work part, it was cleaning and washing animal enclosures, painting the enclosures, helped keep the roads paved, pulling weeds. Lots of shoveling was involved, but it was fun to feel as though you were making a difference! Every Thursdays and Sundays were considered activity days, which let all the volunteers take day trips to do activities in different areas and experience South Africa! The trips were an additional cost, but were fairly priced, and there was a list of things to choose from. Being able to experience the life In South Africa and feel like a part of the reserve was truly amazing. The only thing I wish I could change would be to have made my trip longer! It was a wonderful experience I will remember forever!

Volunteering at Seaview Predator Park was one of the best experiences I've ever had! The terribly long and cramped flights were definitely worth it! At the park we were allowed to be more hands on with the animals than I thought from cuddling the lions and tigers to feeding the baby goats their milk before their sleep time. We were given a daily routine of an animal enclosure which we were then in charge of for the day with duties to make sure their enclosure was clean with fresh water and that the animals had enough human contact time (no problem!). As well as this we were given opportunities to watch some of the female cats being spayed and watch animal feeding times and be involved in the maintenance of the park in general. On top of all the amazing things on offer at the park we were also given day trip options. I took the chance to go to Addo and ride an elephant; definitely recommended, one of the best days! There were also trips like bungee jumping, shark diving, camping excursions, visiting local townships and many more! As well as the big cats, there were also free roaming animals including giraffes (fun to bump into en route to dinner) and zebras. I would encourage anyone considering doing a volunteer scheme like this to go for it as it has been the best couple of weeks filled with incredible experiences I would not have got elsewhere!

After an exceedingly long time being in a cramped plane with minimal leg room we finally made it to Port Elizabeth airport! We were met by a staff member and driven to the park… where we had 120 hectares of land to stretch our legs (perfect). After a good night’s sleep, which was occasionally disturbed by the sound of lions roaring (amazing!), we were taken on a tour of the park before breakfast. In the afternoon we were lucky enough to spend our first afternoon in the baby enclosure – 3 tigers: Jasper, Jade and Ziggy and a lion: Cocunut. Touched a lion, madness!! The following day we sat with the two baby hyenas: Brandy and Bruno. We enjoyed the “interesting” experience of their butt pasting, where they were rubbing their sent on rocks etc … (nearly us). Later that day when walking up to the restaurant for dinner we casually bumped into the roaming giraffes! Definitely had to snag a selfie! The next day we were on farm duty! This is where the first encounter of the baby goats occurred. It was love at first sight! Afterwards a tour group came to visit the park where we had to give them a tour. This definitely tested our knowledge of what we took in on our first day! Just had a casual day riding an elephant at the National Addo Park. The cruel, cruel alarm work us at 5:30am. But it was so worth it! We rode Duma (Thunder – a slightly intimidating name perhaps!) but she was absolutely beautiful! Slightly crippled after… definitely not used to bending my legs like that! Afterwards we fed them and the elephants had a wander. Then onto the safari at the Addo National Park. We saw so much! A lion, zebras at a watering hole, herds of elephants, buffalo along with babies and so much more! Amazing day, but my bed will be welcomed. I could go on forever at what an amazing experience it was! There is so much we did you probably wouldn’t have long enough time to read about it! I met some amazing people from all over the world and the animals were just perfect!

It was absolutely amazing to be able to experience such an awesome volunteer program! All the volunteers were given a lot of responsibility and freedom to spend time with the animals and care for them. Every morning before breakfast you would do chores such as feeding the animals, cleaning their enclosures, and taking the younger ones for walks. I was lucky enough to bottle feed two new baby hyenas and take them for walks and to the veterinarians. I spent quality time with Ice and Igor, a 15 month old lion and a white Bengal tiger. I had the opportunity to hangout in the shade with Coconut, a lion cub aged 8 months, and two Siberian tigers named Jade and Jasper, also 8 months. My favourite animal in the whole park, however, was the young Bengal tiger Ziggy who was 5 months old. She was crazy and loved to play with everyone in the enclosure, even if her playing was a little rough. We stayed in cabins that roomed 4 people which was cleaned everyday by the awesome staff. There was also a wilderness cabin where everyone could go to hangout at night and watch movies. The program also offers a lot of great excursions which cost a fair bit more money but are defiantly worth it. The wifi is fairly expensive so I would recommend purchasing 3G, it is cheaper. The only downside to the volunteer experience would be the fact that the park is fairly touristy and somewhat resembles a zoo. This is a great program to experience spending time with exotic animals but you are not necessarily 'helping' endangered or injured animals.

Some of the greatest days of my life thus far were spent at this predator park. The days were filled with animals, friends, and some of the most amazing adventures. Each morning you would wake to big cats roaring and peacocks chirping. Hyenas suckled on my fingers, a black leopard sat on my shoulders, siberian tigers lied in my lab and lions loved belly rubs. At one point I was living in one of the managers houses and there was a baby white tiger living in the house too! I also became familiar with handling reptiles and even had one named after me! Accommodations were great, we never had to worry about anything (food, laundry, etc). Everyone always asked me, "didn't you get hurt?" and my answer was always the same, nope! You are taught how to work with the animals in a safe manner and if following those protocol there ideally shouldn't be any problems! I think my worst injury was from walking on the beach and a shell cut me. Or it could have been the sunburn, bring lots of lotion with SPF 50+! In our days off we got to explore by jumping off Bloukran's Bridge (world's highest bunny bridge), go horseback riding on the beach, quad biking through an animal reserve and seeing baby rhinos, skydiving, zip lining, visiting a backpacker lounge, booze cruises, and so forth. Traveling alone through South Africa was a little nerve racking but everybody I came across was more than willing to help and was very friendly. Staff at the park provided transportation to and from the airport and also to the outside adventures we wanted to be a part of. Friends were made easily and they are the kind of friends you will never forget. I will forever be thankful to GoEco for providing me with this amazing opportunity!

It has been my dream to work with lions and tigers since I can remember, and finally accomplishing this dream felt and feels surreal. I fell asleep and woke up to the roars of lions, I cuddled with lion and Siberian tiger cubs, played with caracles, and got my hand licked by a black leopard. I celebrated my 20th birthday there and i managed to accomplish things I never thought I would during this lifetime. Such as getting chased by a herd of Buffalo on a game drive while riding Quad bikes, diving with Great White Sharks, Bungee jumping form the worlds highest Bungee Bridge, skydiving and whale watching on the same day. Even though I traveled alone, I never felt safer. If I ran into trouble, the locals were friendly and willing to help. When I landed, a few volunteering and one of the workers of the park came to pick me and the other volunteers up, and also drove up back to the airport the day we left. Also, most injuries that happened to me and the other volunteers through out our stay were self inflicted!! GoEco helped me made my dream come true! They helped me so much during my application process. I totally recommend volunteering through GoEco!

I volunteered for two weeks in the "Orphanage and Teaching in Victoria Falls" program last September (2013) and had an amazing experience! There are various projects within the week and I felt that the projects were all important. The projects varied from the orphanage to the preschool, going to the elderly home and even volunteering with lions! The volunteers came from all over the world and were in all ages and we all worked great together. Go Eco gave me all the information before I left including suggestions about what to bring. They answered all of my questions and were available before my flight and during my stay in Zimbabwe which was really important to me. They even contacted me when I got back to listen to my feedback. This was my second time volunteering through Go Eco and I highly recommend this experience!
