Teach Abroad for 3-6 Months

This summer I took part in Gotoco's TEFL programme in Vietnam. The TEFL course was amazing as we had the opportunity to teach multiple age groups over the 3 weeks and I have overall become more confident with my teaching. The coordinators additionally gave us classes in how to teach which I think really prepared us. Overall the living conditions were great; the house was lovely, and the food was also good. The location of Da Nang was also a very nice place to spend 3 weeks, and on the weekends we had daytrips and throughout our coordinators took us to various cultural experiences.

The Further Afield initiative of Goto-CO is an experience I would recommend for the following reasons. They take care of and book flights (with great flexibility). The organisers and people behind it are friendly, outgoing, and on top of it all. The experience combines work and leisure.

From a wonderful team and great people, to a new experience and the opportunity to explore Thailand and its culture, this was such an amazing programme. Although it was only a 2 week programme, I’m so glad that I came. I learned so much and met so many amazing people. Before I went I didn’t expect there to be so many cultural activities planned for us which was a really nice surprise. We learned how to make traditional Thai desserts and dishes, visited many temples and got to see so much more during our free time :) I would recommend Gotoco to anyone who wants to try something new, meet new people, experience a different culture, and see what teaching English abroad is like.

I was able to spend 3 1/2 weeks in Vietnam, and it was amazing. Firstly, the cohort I was with was incredible; I have made some lifelong friends from that group. Secondly, being able to travel to my first Asian country and essentially live like a local was an experience I believe every young person should have. The school I worked at were amazing, and the teachers were unbelievably welcoming. Vietnam itself is such a beautiful country with beautiful sights.

This programme is an easy way to introduce someone to travelling abroad, teaching English as a foreign language and gaining independence. The opportunity gives someone enough independence but also has a safety net in case you need advice or help in a matter. I have gained valuable skills that I can use in a new career, and it has given me insight into a career where I would teach abroad. I have gained the ability to create and use teaching resources, which would allow me to continue to teach if I wished. I went on a 5-week Rural thialnd programme and the highlight was the students and the meaningful impact we all had on them in a short period of time. From the very first day, we were welcomed by the students and were made to feel like respected teachers. Students were receptive and understanding of the language barriers we faced. Students were happy and wanted to constantly learn and practice English. Those same students continue to contact us and have a strong desire to practice English and get better. Another highlight was the friends I made on the programme. It was initially daunting knowing I would be stuck living with strangers, but I can proudly say I made lifelong friends, and we built connections with each other almost immediately.

It was my first time travelling abroad independently and Gotoco made the entire experience unforgettable and incredibly stress-free. They had considered every detail on what the participants would need and want to have a good experience both at the school and within the area that we were living in. I joined the 1 month programme and had a lot of fun making life-long friends, getting to know the locals and teaching the kids. Doing this programme with Gotoco just ensured that I was able to live and work in Thailand comfortably and stress-free. I would highly recommend joining one of their programmes to anyone wanting to travel, live and work abroad!

If you have ever wanted to spend a week speaking your native language until your own vocal cords file a union grievance, an Angloville immersion week at Hotel Bachledówka is the ultimate luxury endurance test. It turns out the core strategy for teaching English to eager Polish professionals isn't grammar drills or textbooks; it's a relentless, joyful stream of conscious chatter powered by endless cups of tea and breathtaking Tatras mountain views. The Hotel & The Feast Hotel Bachledówka itself feels less like a venue and more like an indulgent mountain sanctuary. Nestled high up in Czerwienne, the views are stunning enough to distract anyone from a tangled debate over present perfect versus past simple. But the real star of the show—the absolute crown jewel of the operation—was the food. Immersion turns out to be incredibly hungry work. Thankfully, the hotel kitchen took this as a personal challenge: * The Buffet Spread: Breakfast and lunch were athletic events. We are talking mountains of local cheeses, warm breads, hearty soups, and traditional Polish dishes that effectively rendered standard afternoon tiredness into a state of warm, well-fed euphoria. * Energy Reserves: If anyone lost their voice by Thursday, it certainly wasn’t due to lack of caloric intake. The food didn't just fuel the conversations; it practically was the conversation for the first twenty minutes of every meal. The Atmosphere & The People The schedule is famously packed—a marathon of 1-on-1 conversations, group activities, and social hours—yet any fear of awkward small talk vanished within the first hour. The sheer warmth of both the Polish participants and the international mentors turned what could have been an exhausting exercise into something remarkably uplifting. * The Polish Participants: Endlessly patient, incredibly driven, and ridiculously generous. They arrived eager to polish their language skills and ended up sharing hilarious local stories, cultural quirks, and recommendations with absolute charm. * The International Crew: A wonderfully eclectic mix of native speakers from all corners of the globe, united by a love of travel, deep discussions, and an impressive capacity to talk continuously for eight hours a day. By day three, the rhythm takes over: you talk, you eat like royalty, you admire the highland scenery, and you talk some more. You arrive as a group of complete strangers assigned to a remote Polish peak, and you leave a week later slightly horse, incredibly well-fed, and possessing a whole new network of genuine friends. If you are going to talk yourself hoarse for a week, there is truly no better place to do it than Bachledówka.

Did the 2 week funded trip in Thailand and it was fantastic! Teaching, travelling, meet new people from Thailand and from the Uk too! The biggest highlight for me was the combination of teaching, travelling and meeting people from completely different backgrounds. I really enjoyed being able to experience Thailand beyond the usual tourist destinations, particularly staying in smaller towns and getting a feel for everyday life there. The teaching itself was also a great experience. Even though it could be challenging at times, having to adapt lessons to students with very different levels of English really helped me develop my communication, creativity and confidence. Seeing the students become more engaged as the programme went on was particularly rewarding. Teaching was fun and came naturally to me. Not as hard as i thought the students are well behaved and are genuinely happy to have a natuve English speaker as a teacher. The social side was another major highlight. Having a group of other participants to travel, explore and spend time with made the whole experience much more enjoyable, and I think the programme does a good job of creating that sense of community. Met plenty of people from uk too so the social side was great too!

I’m really glad I joined Gotoco’s Thailand programme. It was a great opportunity to travel, meet some lovely people and experience teaching English. I especially enjoyed spending time with the students and experiencing the local culture. The financial support with flights, accommodation, meals and transport made a big difference too. Overall, a very memorable experience that I would recommend.

I stayed in China for 6 months through Masons Au Pair agency and it was a good experience. I'm especially grateful to the agency who helped me with all the documents and always were ready to help but also thanks to all Au Pair community where I met new friends from different parts of the world! The Au Pair activities the agency provides really helped me to get to know Au Pairs faster, so we hanged out a lot. It is nice that the agency's office is right next door to the language school where I studied Mandarin, so if I had any problems or needed an advice, it was very easy to find people from the agency to talk. In general it was very nice experience and I'm happy I did it! Thank you, Masons agency for your help and support!

I really loved and appreciated the positive attitude from the teachers and the children at my school, always making us feel included and cared for. The people and friends we made along the programme will be some friends for life; we even went on holiday together in the weeks break for the King's birthday! This experience has definitely made me more adaptable and flexible. With Thai schools and teachers, anything can change instantly and I struggled to acclimatise to that aspect at first but then I really got into that attitude during my time there. It has definitely made me more resilient (and stress-free!)

I was skeptical to try this course as I saw some that were slightly cheaper. This course is 100% worth spending a little extra money! The support from my instructor Sean during and after I completed the course has been invaluable. I received my certificate one week ago and I am already interviewing at ESL schools thanks to his helo during the course and afterwards. Recommend to anyone who is considering an online TEFL course!

My Thailand trip with Gotoco was incredible! I would recommend the scheme because it is a great way to experience a new country while learning and growing in an employability sense. It's a great balance of work and fun that I would love to experience again someday.

Building relationships with local children, teachers, and fellow participants was incredibly rewarding and helped me develop both my interpersonal skills and cultural awareness. I think it is important for anyone considering this programme to understand its purpose and expectations before joining. While the programme offers many benefits, participants should not view it solely as a way to travel or receive funding. The real value comes from being actively engaged, contributing positively to the project, and embracing the learning opportunities that arise throughout the experience. Having realistic expectations and a willingness to contribute will help ensure a more meaningful and rewarding experience. It is also important to keep an open mind throughout the programme. Things may not always go exactly as planned, and there may be challenges along the way. However, these challenges often become some of the most valuable learning experiences. Being flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn from different situations can help participants grow both personally and professionally. I would encourage future participants to take the opportunity to share their own experiences and knowledge while remaining open to learning from others. Every interaction offers a chance to gain a new perspective, better understand different cultures, and develop greater confidence in your own abilities. The Gotoco team made the entire process—from the initial onboarding and visa guidance to the camp placement itself—straightforward, clear, and immensely supportive throughout. Teaching and working with the students in China was incredibly rewarding, the cultural immersion was second to none, and getting to explore, travel, and connect with fantastic people made it a summer I'll never forget. The program was for me, very rewarding were I felt included from the very moment stepping into the experience. The summer camps provided lively, energetic, interactive learning platform and has provided a great stepping stone for my next step in the teaching area. I’ve already been accepted to another program in February 2027 and with the help of TEFL I’ll have many more opportunities open for me to explore.

This tefl course was phenomenal. I did the four week course with Sean, and it was extremely educational! I learned TEFL teaching techniques and got to teach an entire class for a week. Plus, the international team was very supportive :) I’d highly recommend!

My time in China with Gotoco was far more than just a teaching trip, although that aspect of it was thoroughly enjoyed and has really given me insight into what I want career-wise moving forward. It was an experience that is filled with activities, fun, and great people, with the Gotoco staff being particularly welcoming and helpful. A great experience which I would recommend to anyone.
