Study Abroad Programs

Studying abroad through CYA was an experience I will always be grateful for. Living in Athens allowed me to immerse myself in Greek culture, explore incredible historical sites, and connect what I learned in the classroom to the world around me. I also made amazing friendships and became more independent and confident. CYA gave me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, experience a new culture, and create memories that I will carry with me for years to come.

I also made amazing friendships and became more independent and confident. CYA gave me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, experience a new culture, and create memories that I will carry with me for years to come.

Heritage Greece had a profound impact on me, but the most meaningful part of the experience was the people I met along the way. Being surrounded by other young Greeks who shared similar values, ambitions, and a passion for their heritage allowed me to build genuine friendships and connections that I know will last for years to come. As the grandchild of Greek immigrants who came to Canada and often faced discrimination because they were different, I feel incredibly proud to carry on and celebrate the heritage they worked so hard to preserve. Heritage Greece reinforced that pride and showed me that being Greek is something to be celebrated openly and confidently.

I did the "Liberal Arts, Migration, & Social Change" track of Augsburg's CGEE program, and it was amazing. It doesn't require you speak to Spanish, but it has a robust Spanish-intensive with different levels so it's accessible regardless of fluency. It's also a great networking opportunity. You'll see a lot of guest lecturers from all kinds of careers (professors, journalists, philosophers, interpreters, community organizers, agricultural/environmental experts, etc.), and you'll get chances to interact with them and sometimes exchange contact info after their visits. For example, I want a career in writing, and I traded contacts with a journalist who spoke to us! The program also offers a few short, free volunteering opportunities that you can add to your resume (I did this and it helped me land my first internship as an ESL teacher's aide). Finally, the regular professors in the program are always willing/prepared to write letters of recommendation: One of whom is helping me publish my first academic paper that I initially wrote for her class. Finally, it was an amazing social experience. Every person I met there was super interesting, passionate and driven (but perhaps most importantly, just a really good hang) As for stuff to do, there's a ton of bars/clubs, museums, gardens/farms, and a nearby waterpark :D. Some of the stuff we did while I was there included kayaking, arts and crafts, gardening, hiking, museum tours, movie excursions, bowling, ice skating, karaoke, concerts, and bar/club crawls! I think you'd have a blast if you're interested in any of the following: Latin American studies, Community Organizing, Multi-media Art, Art History, Geopolitics, Anthropology, Spirituality/Religion, Biology/Ecology, Agriculture, Literature, Philosophy, Writing/Journalism, Social Work, & Dance. (take the dance class if you can!)

Two of my daughters went to the 2026 Osaka World Class program. They absolutely loved it! From exploring Japanese temples, to visiting historical sites, learning Japanese language and cuisine, to shopping, they enjoyed every day to the fullest.

Learning at Silk Mandarin is a great experience! The teachers are very knowledgable, encouraging, and accomodating. The location is super convenient to get to and the building and classrooms are welcoming. Apart from the part-time lessons they also hosted a Mahjong session which was super fun. I'll definitely return for HSK-2. Highly recommend!

Arcos helped us with our recent study abroad trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Everyone on the team was so kind, thorough, and great with communication. They planned learning activities that aligned incredibly well with the interests of our students, and were with us every step of the way to make sure things went smoothly. The co-directors for Buenos Aires were incredible. They showed so much care for our students and brought incredible positivity and energy every day. I highly recommend them!

I absolutely loved my time in Chile. Not only were the accommodations and classes perfect, but so was the life outside the classroom. Being located in Santiago, we were right in the capital city with multiple events, and activities you could participate in during your time abroad. It was a beautiful landscape with of a city with mountains, and an ocean in Valparaiso\Viña Del Mar just an hour away. I highly recommend studying in Chile!

I took a risk when I decided to accept my offer into this program. I knew it was a brand new program and I didn’t know anyone that was going to be there. I ended up making friends that will last a lifetime all while learning about sustainability issues and what it’s like to live in a different country.

I had the absolute best time while in Italy! I met so many nice people, ate the most amazing food, and traveled to nearby cities. My program coordinated many great field trips for our group to go on, including a castle, a cheese factory, and the Ferrari factory. I felt safe exploring and sightseeing, and loved being a part of the Italian culture! Such an incredible experience I will never forget! I am so glad I studied abroad in Reggio Emilia, Italy!

Min erfarenhet av LTL i Beihai Jag har haft en väldigt bra erfarenhet av att studera mandarin hos LTL i Beihai. Jag tycker att skolan passar väldigt bra för den som vill lära sig kinesiska på ett effektivt sätt och samtidigt få en djupare förståelse för kinesisk kultur och vardagsliv. Det jag uppskattar mest med skolan är hur engagerade, tålmodiga och bra lärarna är. De anpassar undervisningen efter elevens nivå och behov. Jag har haft både privatlektioner och grupplektioner. Vilket båda har olika fördelar. Jag får mycket möjlighet att prata och öva på mandarin. Lärarna har bra koll på hur snabbt vi går framåt och kan anpassa tempot när det behövs. Det gör att undervisningen känns personlig och att jag kan fokusera på de områden jag behöver öva på mest. Jag tycker att det är till stor fördel att inte bara följa ett fast tempo och schema, utan att undervisningen faktiskt anpassas efter mig. En annan stor fördel med LTL i Beihai är att miljön är väldigt immersiv. Det finns knappt några utlänningar utanför skolan, vilket gör att jag hela tiden befinner mig i en kinesisktalande miljö. Jag behöver därför använda mandarin i vardagen. När jag handlar, beställer mat, träffar människor eller gör andra saker och aktiviteter. Jag får möjlighet att använda det jag lär mig på lektionerna. Jag tycker att det gör stor skillnad för min språkutveckling eftersom jag får mycket naturlig träning även utanför skolan. En annan sak jag tycker mycket om är möjligheten att träffa andra elever på skolan. Under rasterna kan man prata med elever från andra länder och lära känna personer med olika bakgrunder och kulturer. Det gör tiden på skolan mer social och rolig. Det är också motiverande att prata med andra elever som befinner sig i samma situation, som också försöker lära sig mandarin. LTL anordnar dessutom olika aktiviteter där man får möjlighet att lära sig mer om kinesisk kultur tillsammans med andra elever. Jag tycker att detta är ett väldigt bra komplement till språkstudierna. Att få uppleva kulturen på plats gör det lättare att förstå språket och hur det används i vardagen. Aktiviteterna ger en chans att göra saker utanför klassrummet och få en mer komplett upplevelse av livet i Kina. Jag bor dessutom hos en värdfamilj under min vistelse i Beihai. Familjen är väldigt snäll och jag känner att det hjälper mig mycket i min inlärning av mandarin. De behandlar mig som en familjemedlem vilket jag uppskattar mycket. Genom att bo med en kinesisk familj får jag möjlighet att höra och använda mandarin även utanför skolan. Det gör att jag får mer naturlig träning i vardagliga situationer och vågar använda språket mer. Jag får också en bättre förståelse för hur vardagen ser ut i en kinesisk familj, lär mig ord och uttryck som jag kanske inte skulle stöta på i läroböcker och klassrummet. Jag tycker att kombinationen av lektioner, en immersive miljö och att bo hos en värdfamilj är särskilt bra för mina språkstudier. På lektionerna får jag strukturerad undervisning och kan fokusera på de områden där jag behöver utvecklas mest. Utanför skolan får jag sedan möjlighet att använda det jag har lärt mig i verkliga situationer. Sammanfattningsvis är jag väldigt nöjd med min tid på LTL i Beihai. Lärarna är tålmodiga och flexibla, de individuellt anpassade lektionerna, den immersiva miljön, möjligheten att träffa andra elever och skolans kulturella aktiviteter gör upplevelsen både lärorik och rolig. Att dessutom bo hos en värdfamilj ger mig ännu fler möjligheter att använda mandarin i vardagliga situationer. Jag skulle absolut rekommendera LTL till andra som vill lära sig mandarin och samtidigt få uppleva kinesisk kultur och vardagsliv på nära håll.

I really liked the chinese lessons at this school. Teacher Wan an excellent teacher! She was very helpfull and listened well. Even when I did not always pronouced the words right, she still could understand what I meant. So we spoke a lot of chinese in the lessons, which improved my chinees speaking a lot. She was also very clear in how to explain the right way to speak. This school also organizes a lot of fun get-togethers, so you can meet the other students. I really loved that very much.

My experience at Schönberg Education was a wonderful one. When I was searching for a language school, I did a lot of research, and Schönberg Education turned out to be the best choice I could have made. Oh my gosh, where do I even start with this program? It was absolutely, positively, mind-blowingly amazing! Seriously, I can’t even begin to express how incredible it was. From the very first day, I was in love with World Class Programs. The energy, the staff, the excitement, the sheer awesomeness of it all was just overwhelming in the best way possible. First off, the people and teachers at World Class Programs were just the best. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it felt like I was part of a big, happy family right from the start. The instructors were super knowledgeable and passionate about what they were teaching, and it was so inspiring to see how much they cared about helping us succeed. They continuously went above and beyond to make sure we understood everything and were always there to answer any questions we had, no matter how silly they might have seemed. And the activities! Oh my goodness, the activities were just out of this world. We got to do so many cool things that I never even thought I’d get the chance to try. There were trips to places like Kyoto, Nara (to see the deer!!!), Himeji, Hiroshima (on the peace day festival) and Tokyo! We also played group games, and even some fun, unexpected surprises that kept us on our toes and made every day an adventure (don’t even ask me about the “karaoke” experience! Haha). I learned so much and had a blast doing it. It was, seriously, like being in a dream. But it wasn’t just the people and activities that made this program so amazing. It was also the environment. Japan. Oh Japan. Japan was just beautiful, with stunning views and a vibe that was both really chill and relaxing, and also energizing at the same time. It was the perfect setting for us to focus, learn, and grow, and I felt so lucky to be there. Every morning, I would wake up excited to see what the day had in store, and every night, I would go to bed feeling grateful for the incredible experiences I had. I also have to mention how much I learned. This program was not just fun and games; it was also incredibly educational. I took the Japanese history course for my major and Photography for my minor. I gained so much knowledge and skills that I know will be super valuable in the future. The way the information was presented was so engaging and easy to understand, and I felt like I was really absorbing everything. Being able to EXPERIENCE things rather than just talk about them was great. It was like my brain was a sponge, soaking up all the amazing stuff being thrown at it. And let’s not forget about the friendships I made. I met so many awesome people who I will never forget. We had so much fun together, whether we were playing “taco cat goat cheese pizza”, hanging out during breaks, watching movies, or just chatting about life. Even though we all just met, It was like we had known each other forever, and I felt so lucky to have them in my life. We even planned to stay in touch after the program ended, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us. In conclusion, this program was just the best experience of my life. It was everything I could have ever hoped for and more. I learned so much, met so many amazing people, and had the time of my life. I will always look back on this program with fond memories and a heart full of gratitude. It was truly an incredible experience, and I am so thankful to have been a part of it. As a study abroad student in Japan, I am having so much fun! And I highly recommend this to others who might be interested in this! There are tons of fun and interesting adventures!! And the teachers are the BEST!! I’m currently in Japan and I leave tomorrow! I am excited to see my family, but also I genuinely don’t wanna leave Japan. I feel like I could stay here another week!

Let me tell you, World Class Programs is the way to go, especially the Japan program. If you’re wanting to experience a fun and exciting adventure that broadens your worldview, this is it. Throughout the three weeks, they not only made me feel safe and supported, but also like family. The staff were also super nice and helped you keep on going even when you were tired. We were all in it together! The activities were also all immersive and varied, so you get a good mix of history, culture, and souvenirs to bring home! If your a history buff, you’ll be especially happy!This is a program that everyone, atleast once in their life, needs to experience!

I went on a 3 week study abroad trip to Japan in 2026 and I had sososo much fun! I was nervous about traveling alone but all the staff were friendly and experienced in travel, so they took all the stress away. The whole trip all the staff were extremely kind, fun and understanding. They always accommodated everyone’s needs. I had lots of fun doing the classes and genuinely learned so much more than I knew before this trip. I felt like I was learning even outside of class in the funnest way possible, I feel like I might even be able to navigate a train station by myself! I really enjoyed free time and I bought so much stuff. I loved going to the malls and animate, my clothing and figure collection has grown substantially. This trip was genuinely a once in a lifetime experience and I had worlds of fun. My only con is that I wish we could have our own rooms the whole time, mostly because I’m a big introvert and I just enjoy having my own space!! Everyone on the program and not was so friendly and Japan is a great place to visit, especially with world class programs!!

This trip was a rich experience that helped me learn about the local life as well as enjoy the simple and fun experiences in Japan. From the quiet shops to the towering skyscrapers, every day was a new adventure. The nature in Nara, tech in Tokyo, and the cuisine in Osaka all stole my breath. It was an amazing trip and couldn’t recommend it enough. Not only that, but it teaches kids social skills and cues. Going to a different country will teach far more than we know.
