Loop Abroad

It was a wonderful experience! I learned so much in just two short weeks. Everyone was so kind and experienced. This is without a doubt a once in a lifetime experience and I'm sad to be leaving so soon.

The staff is extremely friendly and they have all kinds of fun activities planned. We get to learn so much about the culture in South Africa and in veterinary medicine. One of the best Loop programs ever!

This experience was the best I've ever experienced in my life. I was not only able to learn more about my future career than I thought possible, but also learn the different culture which was amazing to me.

This program was an amazing experience for me because I have always wanted to pursue a career in vet med, but never had the experience I wanted. Coming on this trip has allowed me to gain experience with exotics!

I loved going to Kruger. It was such a life changing experience. I also loved the Big Cat Day and the cub lab. Our staff also helped us with our project and I can tell how much they love their jobs and the students!

This was one of the most magical experiences of my life. If I could do this every year I would. From the people to the experiences, everything was so informative and welcoming. The experience I gained here was invaluable.

I really enjoyed all the activities we had, from dancings to vet practices. We really got hella opportunities to work with animals and do the procedures we wouldn't normally be able to do. Freda the python is my bestie now.

I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities this program has given me. I am grateful for the bonds I have created and the new information I have experienced. I get to take home and apply all of this to my journey in veterinary medicine.

I loved the relationships I made and I can't describe the family that I have truly made. We got many opportunities to learn and get an experience that is truly once in a lifetime. I can honestly say this program has changed my life for the better.

The very first day, we got to watch a procedure and then take care of her afterward. From there, the great times with the staff kept going. Our program vet leader was so inspirational and gave us so much advice. I learned a lot from her and had a blast at the same time!

I had a fantastic time on this trip and learned so much about how a zoo runs day to day and how so many people come together to make things happen. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of this program and I wouldn't trade the skills, knowledge, and memories gained for anything.

I had the absolute best time on this trip. I learned so much about so many different animals and it taught me that we need to care about all animals, not just the cute cuddly (not) big cats. Getting to see everything the zookeepers do from the moment they wake up gave me perspective. More appreciative towards the work the other people do that are connected to vets. The snorkeling was so good. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I got to see the animals we were working with in their natural habitats. It gave me such an appreciation for what we're doing out here.

Going snorkling with manta rays was incredible because it was fun and an excellent opportunity to see these amazing animals out in the wild. It gave us a whole new perspective on marine wildlife and ecosystems.

Loop Abroad Bali was truly a life changing program and set the bar extremely high for future Loop trips. Seeing that this was my first Loop trip, I had no idea what to expect, but I left with a better sense of what I want to do with my career in vet-med.

Our program leader was very in tune with emotions and could always give helpful tips when we were struggling. We got to experience once in a lifetime things like the monkey temple too. I can't believe how lucky we were to experience something so special.

Amazing two weeks of my life. I loved the staff and culture. This is my first ever trip out of the States, couldn't ask for a better opportunity to learn and explore. I loved immersing myself in Thai culture and seeing this part of the world.

My time spent at the Elephant Nature Park was incredible. I wish we could've stayed longer. It was amazing getting to be so close to the elephants and care for them during the week. I loved the city life and touring all the beautiful temples and learning so much about the culture.

Lory Park is a little zoo in South Africa. It has some of the most amazing animal species. Everyone at Lory Park has changed and made such a huge impact on my life and I will never forget the feeling of community there. My advice, listen to what they have to share and offer, because you will view everything differently and become a much better version of yourself.

The Selati Research externship offered a great insight into how wildlife are monitored and protected. The staff are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. The program is amazing for anyone interested at any education level.

Selati has been one of the best experiences of my life. Getting to be here and witness the beauty of the animals in the wild is a dream. The staff at Selati are so passionate about their work and all of the life here on the reserve.

This program is truly one of a kind. It was so hands on and I learned so much from tracking, identifying species, and surveying elephant impact on the environment. Every day here was amazing and I would come back to Selati in a heartbeat.

These two weeks at Selai have been without a doubt the greatest experience of my life. Being able to learn about the local environment, both in class and out in the bush, was incredibly fulfilling. If you have even a passing interest in wildlife medicine or conseration, join this program. You will learn more than you expect.

Coming into this program, I had never experienced wildlife conservatin in action, and I'd also never been to Africa. Between the lectures, assignments, and game drives, I learned so much about animal behavior, conservation efforts, and the different research modalities. Practicing what I was learning out in the bush was an incredible and rewarding experience. Thank you so much to all of the staff for going out of your way to make my experience amazing!!

I loved this program so much! Everything from the housing to the food to the curriculum was perfect. It was an experience to remember and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about wild animals

I really loved coming on this trip and it was a once in a lifetime experience! I learned so much and made so many life connections. Our Support Staff was the best! Cheetah interactions were my favorite! I wouldn't change a thing.

Everything was great! I realy liked going to town, Buffelsdrift, and petting the cheetahs. It was all really fun. Our staff were so patient, kind, and helpful. Support Staff were such a rock for me during this program as well as both the vets!

Cango is an experience of its own. Not only do we get once in a lifetime exposure to big cats, but also we learn so much of the cultural impact on animals and life. I loved it so much and feel like I made lifelong connections that I will treasure!

It's always been a dream of mine to work with cheetahs. Going on this trip allowed me to achieve that goal and even contribute to an incredible cause. I loved the staff at Cango Wildlife and I hope to return in the future to continue supporting them!

I would absolutely do this trip again 100%. I've learned so much, got to do so many new things, and met some amazing people I will remember for life and hope to see again! My favorite activities have been the encounters. I have absolutely loved being able to work with these cheetahs.

I rate this program 10/10 across the board. The best part was the cheetah enrichment projects - building them and then finding out how the cheetas would interact with them! Only complaint is that it's an expensive trip but EVERYONE WAS AMAZING! I'd list all their names here - Loop Abroad staff and Cango staff - but there are too many to write down!

I had so much fun with all the activities throughout the trip but the safaris had to be my favorite overall. I loved being able to see these animals in their natural habitat instead of an enclosure! Our vets made learning fun especialy during our little group lectrues during work hours. Support Staff was also great - she made it easy to talk and joke around.

I would love to thank the people who were so selfless to us. I loved seeing the joy from the curators and vets! I hope people don't change a bit! I loved the cheetah encounters, being a part of Suri's vet day, the time on safari, the day off at the pool. I came for big cat learning and go to see and learn so much more. The cheetah and tiger trainers in particular were so joyful and I hope they know the impact they had on me.

Being able to do this was life changing. Being surrounded by kids with the same interests and living out our interests was so amazing! Being able to talk to vets about real life was amazing too. Thank you, Loop Abroad!

I highly recommend this program to anyone that might be on the fence about veterinary medicine. This program helped me realize how passionate I am about veterinary medice. Gaining valuable hand-on experience and speaking to the amazing veterinarians was truly incredible!

I was initially afraid of traveling outside of the country to meet complete strangers, but this trip has been probably the best experience of my life. The Thailand Loop trip was one of a kind. I was able to learn new skills alongside peers with the aid of knowledgeable and kind staff. Working with elephants and directly in dog surgery is a rare opportunity and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I enjoyed the markets, the food, learning Thai culture and language. The hands on animals was definitely a favorite. What I really enjoyed the most was that the animals were free to roam - elephants, dogs, cats - I was just in animal heaven here!

This experience offers not only knowledge in the vet-med world, but opens up new perspectives. The staff are helpful and so kind. I came in very nervous and hesitant on what to expect, but came out confident in learning new things and being uncomfortable.

Spending two weeks with new people, I was able to make friends and share unforgettable memories with them. I had so much fun and learned things that I would not be able to in a classroom. All the hands on activities were very much enjoyable and memorable.

This program did a great job of tying in Thai culture and veterinary medicine. The amount of hands on experience is something you can't experience everywhere. You can tell just by the staff and doctors alone how wonderful of a program Loop Abroad truly is!

My Loop Abroad program in Bali was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Immersing myself in Balinese culture while gaining invaluable experience with local animals was truly fantastic. I'd highly recommend anybody do this.

Snorkeling was a perfect mix of learning and exploring Bali. We got to see so much including coral, sea turtles, and more. It was so fun and we got to connect what we learned to what we experienced. The mix of hands on and theory was a treat.

I had a wonderful time on this program! I learned so much, both about vet med and Balinese culture. We got to release baby sea turtles, plant coral, and help with spay/neuter surgeries on cats and dogs. It's an amazing way to make a difference!

Our vet leader was incredible and a knowledgeable teacher. The cultural part was great. I loved knowing and understanding the communities I'm helping. Also, the learning facilities were wonderful. I feel lucky to have had a chance to come here.

This has greatly helped build my animal skills which helps me in the future. I want to be an exotic vet so the sea turtle week has not only added to my exotic animal experience. It has also added another unique experience to my resume for my application to vet school.

These past two weeks in Bali have been an amazing experience. I have met so many wonderful people and have gained knowledge that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. As a first time study abroad student, I highly recommend this trip to anyone who has never traveled abroad before!

It was such a worthwhile experience. We got to help treat the elephants and even train them a bit. The vets were very knowledgeable and so was the behaviorist. I'll never forget my time here in Thailand!

I'd highly recommend this program for anybody that whats any future in animals! I learned so much about such a variety of species that I honestly couldn't have gotten anywhere else! All of the staff is so caring, loves to teach, and gives so many opportunities even outside of the set curriculum. I feel much more prepared and confident to become a vet.

Selati Research Preserve was a truly life changing experience. The staff there are truly amazing and take such good care of the wildlife and their people. Nothing compares to what it was like seeing the animals on the reserve. Truly grateful.

This program is a dream experience. As a child you dream of working with African wildlife and this program made it possible to be out in the bush doing real work for conservation. Never would I have thought that I would locate a pride of lions with telemetry. This program made it possible.

I loved every moment from early mornings to game drivers to hands on conservation work that deepened my passion for protecting nature. I can't wait until the next time I come and visit Selati.

The vet med experience was my favorite part of this trip. And keeping track of my passport - that I was pretty nervous about! The local staff are amazing and so knowledgeable. I had such an amazing time!

This program was a special experience to me in many ways. I got to experience what it's like to be independent from my caretakers, and got to better understand the career I'm moving towards. Aside from how cool and fun the snorkeling was, our doctor was so thoughtful and took so much personal time to make sure I understood everything. I feel so grateful to have such a kind and knowledgeable mentor.

The doctors were a dream team. They made everything so seamless and they truly made the program. Especially one of them. He cares so much about the student experience. It made being so far from home feel less scary.

Our vet leader was the best. Not only as a teacher and brilliant veterinarian, but even just as a person. She is so easy to talk to and hilarious. Sometimes I forget that she is our teacher. The other teachers were also great.

The whole Bali crew were so kind and helpful. I learned more in two weeks than I've learned in all my classes combined. The doctors were all so compassionate and kind. They helped me when I was feeling like I didn't think I could do it.

The Bali Loop program was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was impossible not to fall in love with the Balinese culture as well as each and every animal we encountered. If you're on the fence about studying with Loop, do it!

The third week of Loop Abroad at New Heaven Dive School was an extremely wonderful experience. They made someone with little swim experience feel comfortable and confident in the water. If anyone is considering doing this trip in the future, I would highly suggest it!

I had an amazing time with Loop Abroad at Lory Park Zoo! I learned and did things I have never done before. I saw and handled animals I never thought I would. I also gained valuable experience and connections in my future field.

I LOVE CANGO! All the staff were amazing - just everyone I encountered. The highlights were the cheetah runs, Buffelsdrift, pool tournaments, game nights. Only thing I'd change is less ripe bananas for the suture lab - tiny detail. 10/10 across the board

The staff here was amazing, the food was great, and the animals were wonderful. This trip changed my life for the better, and I have learned a lot, both about myself and the animals and culture here. I had never traveled outside of my home country before coming to Thailand and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. this trip has broadened my perspective and opened my mind to a whole other world ready for me to explore. Traveling to the opposite side of the world with 12 strangers was not something I ever saw myself doing. It took lots of courage but I was met with such welcoming arms and felt so at home from day 1. The whole experience is one everybody should have. We got to get hands on experience with real elephants. We also got to immerse ourselves in Thai culture by seeing markets and taking cooking classes where I learned new skills.

This trip with Loop Abroad reminded me why I'm doing what I'm doing. I got a sneak peek at work I'd be doing as a vet and it reminded me that that is my goal. It inspired me and also taught me so much about this beautiful country.

My favorite activities were all the clinical skills we got to learn. I loved getting hands on experience in skills I wouldn't be able to attempt until vet school back home in the States. Our vet leader was super supportive and knowledgeable.

Our vet leader helped me so much by being a listening ear and giving me advice. She was also wonderful to have as someone to help/support us. Any time I felt like I didn't know what to do, she was there helping to make me feel safe and confident.

This was my first time traveling abroad or even alone and I'm so glad I was able to experience it with such great people. I enjoyed getting to know the Thai culture along with being able to assist in surgery and anesthesia. I really enjoyed everything! Thank you.

My favorite activity was going to the night markets. I got to interact with locals and buy many souveniers for my family. Even just being able to see what the locals sold was fun. I learned so much about Thai culture being here and learning from the doctors and staff.

I think overall this program is a great opportunity to learn about yourself. Challenges presented themselves with the environment but we made it work just like you would in life. I loved Thailand and it gave me a chance to learn another culture/resonate with Buddhism.

If there was one program I would recommend above others it would be this program. In only two weeks this place felt a little like home. Lory Park is a tight knit family and I am beyond thankful they let us be a part of it.

Vet rounds at the Elephant Nature Park were my favorite because they were such a special experience and I learned new things. I also got to see my first real surgery and anesthesia. It was such an eye opening and memorable experience.

This program helped me get my first experience hours, and I'm glad it was in Thailand with helpful vets and like-minded students. I enjoyed meeting the dogs at the small animal clinic and the practice we did leading up to the surgery day. ENP was unforgettable and inspired me to help these elephants.

For any cat lover, this trip is for you! You work alongside many big cats. There are also so many big cat encounters. Being able to see big cats up close was by far the highlight of this trip. All our vets were very nice and helped me get out of my comfort zone.

The dogs and dolphin program in Costa Rica was the best program to go on! I highly recommend this program if you want to gain more knowledge about dogs and more experiences with exotics such as dolphins

Our program was a nice split of medical and research experiences we got to be very active and get a little dirty while learning a lot. We got to basically camp in a cabin, which I found so fun! I'm going to miss Costa Rica and all the people I met here so much!

The dogs and dolphins program offered amazing hands on opportunities that you can't get in the States. This program is special as you truly get out of it what you put in. This program brings you to places you will never see simply traveling and teaches you things you can't always get in class.

Best parts were seeing so many wildlife, learning about surgical procedures, and learning about species like servals, agoutis, etc. I loved the suture lab too as I learned so many new techniques. I felt so welcomed by the Loop Abroad staff as they did so much to make the program as fun as it was.

I really enjoyed every activity we did so it's hard to even pick a favorite. I learned more and more with each one. The community, staff, animal care, conservation lectures - all added up to such a life-changing experience. I loved the clinical diagnostics, survivalist training, and learning about local plants on top of the animals too. Our Doctor was incredibly inspiring and always there to clue us in and share her wisdom and advice. It felt like having a veterinary big sister.

Studying abroad in Thailand on the veterinary science semester was one of the best decisions that I have made in my life and one that I would easily make over again if it was offered to me. From the moment I arrived in the country to the day the program ended, the staff on site were incredibly welcoming and supportive. Our first week was spent familiarizing ourselves with the home-base city, language, culture, and religion before we started on the veterinary medicine side of learning. We started with an intro level companion animal science course, which was beneficial to bring everyone up to the same level in terms of skills/knowledge before starting the more complex coursework with the other species. From there, we had quite the busy schedule over the remaining 10 weeks while working with elephants, sea turtles, zoo animals, reptiles, and scuba diving. Each course was held in a different part of the country so we would frequently have Saturday free with traveling on either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. I enjoy staying busy so this schedule worked well for me, but I could see it being too much for someone that prefers more downtime. All in all, I feel like this program is an amazing option for pre-vet college students, but it really is what each individual student makes of it. The more you pay attention, demonstrate skills, and offer yourself as a volunteer, the more opportunities that will be offered to you and the more hands-on experience that you will receive!

This program really helped one understand my personal goals and aspirations. I was never sure what I wanted to do with my aspirations in animal health, so I thought I should branch out with something as extravagent as Loop Abroad. I will never have had the courage to touch or even work on an elephant if I never pushed myself. I am so glad I did because I learnt so much and met amazing people and mentors along the way.

Getting a chance to go on this trip is something that I will forever be grateful for. I truly learned so much about the veterinary field and everuything that goes along with it. The staff were so extraordinary and me the trip so amazing.

Loop Abroad has provided an amazing experience for me and other students. The vets and guides were all unique and special and genuinely happy about spending time with us. They provided me with a safe environment both mentally and physically.

This trip was the bravest and best thing I have done so far in my life after having the greatest time here at Loop Abroad. The staff made me feel so welcomed and were so kind and friendly to me. Now I feel like I want to and need to do even more and experience more. I feel like I could do anything now!

I knew going on this Loop Abroad trip was going to be incredible. But it was even more amazing than I ever could have imagined. Take the chance, explore and leave your little home nest. It's worth the good you will do and worth the adventure.

This program really opened my eyes and alowed me to see things in a completely different perspective. Learning the culture and vet med stuff we went over during my time in Thailand was amazing. Plus the activities and temple visits were great! :)

Coming to Loop Abroad in Thailand I experienced things that I'll remember for a lifetime. I learned a ton about culture & veterinary medicine and it really changed my perspective! My favorite activity was the night market, seeing the cultural things & ziplining

I loved the surgery days at the dog rescue clinic because it gave me an opportunity to practice skills I never have before. I also loved the night markets and being able to experience true Thai culture. Our guide was beyond helpful, caring, and funny! He really helped to make this trip even more special

My favorite part was getting to go on vet rounds at Elephant Nature Park to feed and help treat elephants because it's very unlikely I'll get to do that again! It's hard to choose just one staff who made my experience special. The entire team brought so much good energy & made this experience so much better. They were the perfect people for their roles!

Cango was amazing and getting to interact closely with ambassador animals was incredible. All of the zookeepers and curators were so educated and answered all of our questions well. The program here was so intensive, but very rewarding.

My time on this trip has been incredible in all the ways I thought of and some I couldn't. I have learned so much about conservation and veterinary medicine. I would highly recommend Loop Abroad to aspiring veterinarians.

The Loop Abroad South Africa Big Cats trip was a once in a lifetime experience. The animals and people here were absolutely wonderful. I learned so much and made the best memories with amazing people. I'd do it again.

Very nice program!! I loved it so much. All of the staff made my experience special. My favorite was being around all the animals, especially waking up to see an alpaca outside my window. The enrichment project also taught me a lot.

This was a great experience! Not only did I learn a ton about animals, but I also made new friends and had a lot of fun visiting the tide pools at Terrigal, throwing a boomerang, and doing the scavenger hunt. I highly recommend this program for all students interested in vet medicine

I'm very happy to get this experience and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did. I was very nervous at first to come but I'm very glad on everything I did and got to do. I've learned so much valuable information and the things I was able to do were amazing and eye-opening.

I had a great time in Thailand; at first, I was nervous being away from home for the first time, but I'm so glad I went! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to work directly with elephants in real life medical situations, and I gained so much experience working with and on small animals (as well as exotics) that I could never get from the classroom.

I had a great time on my Loop Abroad trip! I got to experience direct work with the animals which was amazing! I got to experience so much more than I thought I would. Getting to experience a different culture and hang out with the amazing staff made this trip so worth it!

Loop Abroad will push you to your limits, but the skills you learn in this program is nothing to be compared to your average school. The extensive learning, hands-on activities, and fun loving staff will have you wishing you could stay forever. The connections are endless.

It was such an incredible experience in South Africa. We got to do things that hardly anyone on the planet got to do and it was extraordinary. The wildlife were beautiful and the country itself was amazing.

The hands on veterinary skills that I have learned on this program have been exciting and I felt as if I learned more in these two weeks than a semester of classes. The people here in this program have contributed to a very positive and nurturing learning environment. These two weeks have been an experience of a lifetime.

I had an amazing experience living at the zoo! I learned lots about applications to vet school from peers, and medical information from the doctors. The most amazing part was waking up to the southern ground hornbills singing a duet! I would love to go on one more walk through the park!

My favorite activity was the drive count as a lot of learning was taking place the whole time. We were connected to nature while learning how to identify tracks and learning different native species foudn in the reserve. Also, all the learning in lectures complimented with the drives very well

This program was the best pre-vet program out there! If you seek adventure, thrill, excitement, and you want reserach hours, then Selati is the place for you! Amazing knoweldge, conservation, and vet work! Would recommend to anyone at any level! Thank you - I'll remember this forever

If you are trying to choose a South Africa program, all are great but this one is incredible, life-changing, and so fun. Everyday is different and I have fallen in love with conservation medicine because of this program!!

I loved being at the sanctuary - especially the wildlife clinic! Loved learning from my instructors and feel like I've learned a ton. They really made this the experience of a lifetime with learning, laughs, and adventures!

This Loop Abroad trip is truly special. You get to be up close with some of the most incredible wildlife and learn about them and their care. You also learn so many skills from the hospital vet team who are so kind and welcoming

This experience was so unique! I gained a lot of hands-on experience and made wonderful friends who share the same struggles and goals. Our leaders were the best! They were passionate about their jobs in vet med so they passed on that excitement

My favorite activity was the darting because it was so unique and I probably can't do it at home. Doing necropsies was also fun because it was fun to see how animals work! Our leaders made me feel very comfortable and were always finding things for us to do in the clinical hours

The labs and learning clinical skills were both so much fun! It was great to get hands-on and practical experiences. I enjoyed listening to the lectures and joining the veterinarian on free time and having them answer all my questions!

The best part of this program was so many clinical hours and spending time with our staff. Our leaders were both amazing and went above & beyond their jobs to not only teach us but be caring & understanding towards me. They always had knowledge on my multitude of questions and were so caring.

Our leaders were so helpful all the time and make us feel amazing! I really wouldn't be that happy and engaged without these two. This trip was also the first time I ever went snorkeling and it was very impressive and a lot of fun.

My favorite part was the tutorials at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital because they were so informative and interactive. Our leaders were the most AMAZING instructors. They are so kind an encouraging and knowledgeable and I always felt safe to ask questions.

Both our leaders were absolutely incredible. They both went out of their way to help me feel comfortable & included & their knowledge of the vet world is genuinely so palpable. My favorite day was actually the kangaroo observation day but I really enjoyed the endoscopy tutorial which was immediately applicable to my clinic work. Blow darting was also very fun!
