Thailand 4-Week Experience

I am a worrier and I was frazzled about all the risks for this trip and going it alone. But I felt so safe over there, I didn’t have any time where I was super close to getting hurt or sick. The staff is so open with you and it’s easy to be that way with them. So do not stress! Take advantage of seeing a wonderful new part of the world while getting credits! It’s definitely my favorite college course.

I thought the entire trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was a complete cultural shock. I was also able to meet so many great new people. Both from the United States, England, and Thailand. Being able to live in the village in the mountains for 4 days was a great experience of how they live. The hiking was amazing. Then we went to the island of Koh Tao and got to see and experience all the wonders of the ocean while getting scuba certified. Being able to spend a week with the elephants at elephant nature park was also another once in a lifetime opportunity. Being able to work along side and be within arms reach of those beautiful creatures was breathtaking. Lastly was clinic week and it was wonderful to be able to show off the skills I had learned back at home and to be able to assist in surgery.

I had an amazing time in Thailand studying both companion animals and elephants at the Elephant Nature Park. Through the multiple hands-on experiences, I was able to apply classroom learning. I was also able to immerse myself in Thai culture through tours of Chiang Mai and various temples.
