Summer Internships in India

I have learnt how to do work online, draft appeals for clients whose cases have been denied, speak some Spanish, update clients about their cases, update the Spanish Bar Association database. Above that, I have learnt that time management, open mindedness, curiosity, confidence and asking questions are key to success. I want to extend my deeper appreciation for your help and guidance through this process. I have got immeasurable knowledge, understanding, work ethic, and experience through this internship. I am all over anew with the internship experience I received.

What I enjoyed most about this internship is the opportunity to contribute to work that has a clear and meaningful social impact. This made the work feel purposeful rather than purely task-driven. I especially valued the collaborative discussions with my supervisor. Knowing that the materials we create could directly support and empower women in difficult situations made the experience particularly rewarding. This internship strengthened my empathy and cultural awareness. I became more aware of how social, cultural, and economic factors influence personal decision-making, especially regarding sensitive topics like marriage and financial independence. This helped me grow in emotional intelligence and adaptability. Professionally, I gained experience in program design and curriculum brainstorming, improved my ability to communicate clearly in a remote environment, and developed stronger critical thinking skills when tailoring ideas to specific communities. I am also learning the importance of patience and long-term thinking in nonprofit and educational work, where impact is not always immediate but requires strategic planning and collaboration.

The remote Developmental Psychology internship shaped me greatly in my personal and career development, giving me ample opportunities to develop my skills in communication, efficiency in an online environment, and professionalism. I became more knowledgable in my future career field, and made meaningful connections throughout my time with my host organization.

Working with my supervisor was a wonderful experience despite the timezone difference. I am very grateful to have been able to spend my time researching on the topic of youth mental health and helping combat mindsets of domestic abuse from a young age. I am sure the experience has tremendously prepared me for my future career in Psychology where similar working ethics and research styles will come in handy.

The remote Introduction to Counseling Skills internship (hosted out of India) was much more comfortable than I thought as I can start my day whenever I'd like - this helps it feel less school-like with attendance. It's all about getting your tasks in, which I prefer to have my own schedule every week. I love seeing the different counseling techniques and alternative therapies used within counseling to help clients. Another thing I will highlight is the research requirement through all my case reports, I find it rewarding to find myself a topic to research on and write about in my case reports. I am proud to say that I will enter my Master's program this coming spring readily and more eager to deep dive into counseling better than before. The remote internship really helped to motivate me to improve my personal and professional development as a person and as an aspiring counsellor. I really enjoyed doing my own research through the case reports; personally finding something to research through each case report has helped me learn about the subject and the techniques involved.

The remote Legal Support for Human Rights Advocacy internship (hosted out of Tanzania) has empowered to be successful in my field as I learned a lot from my supervisor and I enjoyed that the most. I conducted relevant legal research in a foreign country to the standards of my peers. I have the confidence to tackle any challenge within the legal field. The internship also strengthened my passion for law and justice. It allowed me to see firsthand how legal systems operate in a different cultural and economic context, and it challenged me to think critically about fairness, access to justice, and professional ethics from that foreign environment.

Intern abroad found me an internship I really enjoyed doing! All my conditions that I wanted were met and the company that I did my internship with were also very good. The support I received from intern abroad was also great- I could always reach out via email and even had support during my interview. Although it may seem expensive I definitely thought the experience was worth it.

What I enjoyed most about the remote Clinical Psychology internship was how it became a meaningful part of my weekly routine. Every Saturday morning, watching the sunrise and joining the sessions provided both mental stimulation and a sense of purpose. The structure—from introductions to ongoing check-ins and the final review—made learning feel natural and engaging. The content was extremely useful, generously shared, and covered updated and practical topics applicable to future work in psychology. I learned to integrate knowledge into practice, consider multiple perspectives, respect cultural differences, and work effectively with patients as well as their families or support systems. The internship strengthened my professionalism, empathy, confidentiality, organisational skills, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability, contributing significantly to my personal and professional growth. What made this experience truly exceptional was my supervisor. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable and detail-oriented but also genuinely passionate about teaching and supporting her students. Her positive attitude, warmth, and encouragement created a judgment-free environment where I always felt comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas. My supervisor challenged my inner blockages, inspired me to push beyond my limits, and made learning enjoyable even during intense or serious work. Over time, I came to see her as both a mentor and a friend, whose guidance and energy profoundly shaped my growth and deepened my passion for psychology.

One of the things I enjoyed most about the remote Legal Support for Human Rights Advocacy internship (hosted out of Tanzania) was the opportunity to engage directly with local communities and witness the real-world impact of what we discussed and learned about. Being immersed in a different culture challenged me to adapt quickly, think critically, and approach problems with empathy and creativity. Professionally, it deepened my interest in global policy and grassroots organizing, while personally, it helped me grow more confident, independent, and open-minded. The experience gave me a clearer sense of purpose and direction in terms of the kind of work I want to pursue in the future. I really appreciated the guidance and support I received. Communication was clear and timely, and I felt that any questions or concerns I had were taken seriously. The team was approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed. This experience significantly shaped my personal and professional development. Personally, it deepened my cultural awareness and empathy by immersing me in the lived experiences of Amazigh women and displaced communities. Professionally, it gave me hands-on experience drafting policy briefs and supporting legal education initiatives - strengthening my ability to communicate complex ideas across linguistic, legal, and cultural divides. It reinforced my passion for human rights law and solidified my long-term goal of pursuing a career in international legal advocacy.

My favorite part about this internship was getting to meet and work with new people from across the world. It was great to have their input as we worked, because they brought up points that I hadn't thought about.

I was grateful that I was able to observe real client-counsellor interactions and sessions, this gave me knowledge on the structure and communication style of counseling sessions and helped me learn to observe behavior. Learning about autism and women's empowerment in particular, will help me with my future career as well as all of the relevant skills I developed along the way. I found the Intern Abroad HQ portal very useful as it contained all of the information I needed to know about the internship in one place. It prepared me well and gave me insight into what I should expect. When I started my internship, any queries that I had, I was able to contact my supervisor and these were resolved almost immediately.

I enjoyed the variety of tasks I did during the internship. This internship contributed to my personal and professional development by giving me experience in the field I am interested in, along with boosting my confidence in my abilities to work in new environments.

What I enjoyed most about my internship in Morocco was the opportunity to work closely with local leaders and communities. Meeting and collaborating with people from different backgrounds - both my fellow interns and the Moroccan women pursuing entrepreneurship- was inspiring and eye-opening. The warmth, hospitality, and openness I experienced from my colleagues and the community made settling into a new environment much easier, and it also challenged some stereotypes I had before arriving. This internship was a valuable step in both my personal and professional development. Personally, it strengthened my ability to adapt to unexpected changes and to embrace new opportunities with an open mind. Professionally, it deepened my cultural competence, teaching me the importance of humility, listening, and understanding local contexts before proposing solutions. I also developed greater flexibility, cross-cultural communication skills, and respect for collaborative problem-solving - qualities I know will benefit me in any diverse work environment.

The guidance and support I received was very encouraging. This internship provided me with a treasure trove of knowledge concerning mental health issues that are going on around the world and all the different ways they can be approached. It introduced me to an environment where not only am I dealing with another person's mental health but individuals who are also so young and impressionable. This experience prepared me for my future career as a mental health therapist in so many different ways and I am so thankful for that.

Taking part in a nursing internship in India was a truly enriching experience, even through observation alone. It gave me the chance to better understand the Indian healthcare system, explore cultural differences in daily practices, and reflect on my own lifestyle and habits. Being immersed in such a different environment was both humbling and eye-opening. I learned to look at healthcare through a new lens and gained a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity in medical practice. I completed a nursing internship in Sri Lanka, where I was responsible for preparing treatments, taking blood samples, setting up IV lines, and doing wound dressings, among other tasks. This experience gave me a completely different perspective on patient care and helped me realize just how advanced the French healthcare system is. It was not only professionally enriching, but also a deeply personal eye-opener. I would absolutely recommend this internship. For me, it was a true life lesson. I took part in the Nursing Project in Cambodia, where I had the chance to observe medical practices and perform technical procedures such as blood draws and blood gas analyses. This experience was incredibly enriching, I learned new ways to carry out clinical tasks and discovered a completely different culture by living with a welcoming Cambodian host family. I would highly recommend this mission to anyone curious about healthcare in a different part of the world. RealStep provided excellent support from beginning to end, which made the experience even more rewarding.

On a human level, this medical internship with an NGO was just incredible. Discovering a new culture and a new way of providing care is also very enriching. It forces us to set aside our lifestyle and habits in order to open ourselves up to others—and that is priceless! Taking care of children, monks, and visiting patients in their homes. It’s amazing to find yourself right in the middle of people’s lives—exactly what we were looking for. Regarding the trip itself… Everything. Honestly, we have a hard time naming anything negative! Thailand is a country where it’s extremely easy to adapt and live. The Thai people are welcoming and helpful. We definitely want to go back.

My role involved working closely with nurses to provide patient support. This involved accompanying them through various medical procedures, including blood draws, infusions, and electrocardiograms (ECGs). In addition, I was also responsible for administering certain treatments, ensuring that patients received appropriate care and support throughout their medical journey. I spent 10 unique weeks in Nepal. I am extremely grateful to have been able to complete my first internship of my third-year nursing studies in a hospital in Kathmandu. This internship taught me a lot both professionally and personally. It was a unique experience in my career, an opportunity I am grateful to have had. Meeting such remarkable and touching people was very enriching. Furthermore, discovering breathtaking landscapes and experiencing unforgettable moments contributed to making this experience truly special for me.
