Institute for Global Studies rocks when it comes to ecotourism placements. IGS works with the leading kayak tour company in Thailand. It has placed students with a submarine tour company in Hawaii. In Sydney, Australia, an IGS student went into the wine country as an assistant guide on daily tours. In Spain, IGS sent marketing students to work for a high-end food tour company. IGS students have hiked the Annapurna Trail in Nepal, taking photos and blogging for a trekking company. In Cancun, Mexico, a student promoted whale shark tours and accompanied clients on the boat. You, too, could discover where your passions lie with an IGS Ecotourism internship. Your placement in a beautiful destination is a venue for exploring your passion while learning the business side of things. Marketing trips are an integral component of the internship. Hosts may use your knowledge of social media to reach out to possible clients. Connecting with local hotels to promote the company is another essential duty.

It is home to the highest active volcano in the world, pristine Pacific beaches, and unspoiled tropical rain forests, as well as ancient Incan history now echoed through the lively Ecuadorian culture. Interns must be 18 years or older and have completed high school (or equivalent). World Endeavors’ International Internship program is open to current students, graduates, and mid-career professionals. Join a hands-on, personalized internship to help families & indigenous communities develop profitable tourism destinations that preserve local culture & ecosystems. The challenge: Guaranda is stunning, both in terms of landscapes & culture. However, it's one of Ecuador's least developed regions; 40% of rural people live in poverty & many are forced to cut down the last remaining native forest to farm or leave where they were born to find an income. Through this, the culture begins to deteriorate, and unique ecosystems are lost. Local people lack the education & resources to find innovative ways to make a dignified living that preserves their culture & landscapes. The solution: Community & eco-tourism have the potential to not only provide an income but also have the potential to regenerate native landscapes & celebrate indigenous cultures. By supporting communities & local businesses to develop their ideas, improve their spaces, create sustainable business models, and reach the right tourists for what they can offer, there is a huge potential to enrich the lives of people visiting Guaranda while changing the lives of local people for the better.
