The Bristol program allows you to study and live in a thriving modern city, only 90 minutes from London by train, and study at one of the top-rated universities in Britain and the world. You can enroll for one semester or a full year in a range of courses in a variety of disciplines at the University of Bristol. Choices include Aerospace Engineering, Archaeology, Computer Science, Drama, Geographical Sciences, Economics, Physics, Social Policy, History, Earth Sciences, English Literature, Philosophy, Politics, Pre-Med, and Sociology. You can take a combination of courses from any department in the University to fulfill major, minor, or general graduation requirements while at Bristol. We recommend that you consider taking at least one course in British Studies, such as Politics and Policy Making to make your stay more meaningful. Please note that due to the global health status worldwide, USAC is making programmatic changes to summer, fall, and yearlong programs, and some options might not be available. Students with 0-4 semesters of Russian are invited to immerse themselves in Russian history, culture, politics, language study, and university life at CIEE St. Petersburg. Select coursework across a range of academic areas, in English, along with Russian language classes matched to your skill level. Integrate yourself into the local community through volunteer work. All courses are complemented with CIEE co-curricular activities and excursions beyond the city to enhance classroom learning and provide intercultural understanding.

At New York University in Prague, courses such as "Modern Dissent in Central Europe: The Art of Defeat" and "European-American Relations in the 21st Century" explore fundamental topics in history, politics, and social justice. NYU Prague students learn about the Czech Republic’s incredible cultural and political transformation that began during the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Courses are taught by politicians and public intellectuals, many of whom were key players in the country’s transition to democracy. NYU Prague staff organize day trips and overnight excursions to historic sites such as Kutná Hora, a medieval town and UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its cathedrals, or industrial Ostrava, where students meet members of the town’s Romani population. Opportunities vary based on local restrictions. NYU Prague’s academic center is in two 15th-century buildings near the historic Old Town Square. It houses lounges, computer labs, classrooms, music practice spaces, and darkrooms.

Take part in Russian language and culture studies held in Almaty, Kazakhstan; Tallinn, Estonia; Tbilisi, Georgia; and Yerevan, Armenia. Programming in the Russian Federation, including in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Vladimir, is currently suspended. The Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies program (RLASP) admits undergraduate and graduate students to the course. American Councils works with leading higher education institutions in Eurasia to deliver small-group programs in Russian Language and Area Studies. Qualified participants can take courses alongside Russian-speaking students. They will spend one day each week engaging in an excursion to a local site of cultural and historic significance.

Learn Russian in the EU offers personalized, for-credit academic study abroad programs, hosted at Daugavpils University. Undergraduates can enroll for one semester or two consecutive semesters (for an academic year) and receive European Credit Transfer (ECTS) credits from Daugavpils University. Our AY/semester study abroad programs include two components: 1) Core Course: Intensive Russian as a Foreign Language (interactive communication skills, grammar, phonetics) geared towards different target proficiency levels. 2) Elective courses, depending on the selected programs: Russian Literature and Culture, East European Studies, Baltic Studies, History, and other subjects.

In Riga, Latvia, an intensive and supportive environment for Russian language study is paired with a homestay option to provide an immersive language and cultural experience. Out-of-classroom experiences and special lectures and workshops give you ample opportunity to use Russian while introducing you to local Latvian identity, history, and current issues. At least one semester of previous Russian language study is required. Riga has long been a popular vacation spot for its surrounding rich forests, white sand beaches, and rich architectural heritage. Although the city feels very European, prices are much lower than in the rest of Europe, and Russian is still used daily on the streets. Riga is an excellent place to practice your foreign language skills and further explore the fascinating Baltic countries.
