AIFS Abroad Virtual Internships

I had great support interning with a company based in the UK. There was a small issue at the beginning of the internship, but it was easily fixed due to my advisors being knowledgeable and timely! I would recommend.

I had such an amazing time during my internship provided by Global Experiences. It was a virtual position and I got the chance to connect with people from across the world, and there was no lack of connection as communication was very strong and receptive both from GE and my internship organization. For the three months of my internship, I had biweekly meetings with Carmen who gave such focused and detailed information about learning skills, how to work better, time management and ask any questions we had. This made me so much more comfortable during my placement. So, GE as a whole is 100% worth it in my opinion.

Programming has always been one of my most admired career goal so I took it upon my self to engage in it . I didn't have much opportunity because of my family financial capabilities . During my secondary school I used the money I saved running errands to purchase a course(python programming language for beginners) I saw on (Coursera.org) while I was browsing through how to learn a programming language and ever since I haven't stopped and python is now one of my best skills with other programming languages. Most of the skills I have I acquired through e-learning and I believe I have what it takes to participate and engage actively without supervision.

While interning with an international nonprofit, I was able to work on several projects that contributed to the organization's educational and promotional goals. Through working on these projects, I explored new interests and strengthened my communication and creative skills which I would not be able to do anywhere else. This experience positively contributed to my career development and provided me with guidance on the next steps I need to take in my professional journey. I greatly appreciated how supportive my supervisor and the Global Experience staff were!

The entire process from start to finish was engaging and inclusive. I was a little hesitant when going through the interview process about how this would all turn out but once I was placed, and attended the first couple of meetings with the rest of the program, the experience kept on getting better and better. I was placed with a company that I was excited to work with and all of the people managing and creating GoAbroad were so kind and considerate to those shy and outgoing.

I had an excellent social media marketing experience through Global Experiences. I had the opportunity of working with an international company from Costa Rica. During my internship, I learned about the Costa Rican market while strengthening my Spanish fluency. I truly had a 10/10 experience! I found having the bi-weekly checkins very beneficial to my experience. I was able to network and build my global connections with other co-interns. I had an amazing interactions with such a diverse group. This allowed me to truly appreciate and open my worldview.

My virtual experience through Global Experiences was beautiful and memorable. I had the opportunity of being an intern with a non-profit organization and my host company was terrific from start to finish. Although in the beginning, I was nervous and unsure of myself, but throughout the process, I learned and improved on skills that I did not know I could excel in. Global Experiences also did an excellent job with supporting interns like myself by having check-ins where we can come together to speak about our experiences as well, which I thought was great because we had that extra support. All of this helped to make my virtual internship experience a whole lot better than it already was!

Global Experiences truly provided me with a 10/10 experience! I had the privilege of being placed with an international company located in Barcelona, Spain called Buddy Ball Band. I was fortunate to have the CEO of the company as my supervisor, Ms. Paula Stewart. BBB's goal is to help and empower women through fitness specifically Pilates. This was my first internship experience, and I am so grateful that I could gain different professional experience by working with an international company. I was able to assist my supervisor on helping identify the benefits in new strategies for her business to get more ROI. The GE team is truly amazing, specifically Carmen. She is a great mentor and was a welcoming face each week at virtual check-in's! I am so appreciative for the entire GE team and everything they have done to help me have such a valuable experience and step outside of my comfort zone!

I was very grateful for the opportunity to delve into social media, content and research for Art and Culture Translated. It has been an interest of mine for quite some time, and the opportunity to work for an art translation company and create content for them as well as perform client prospecting duties was one-of-a kind. I really appreciate Jenepher, Becca, Carmen and Luna's assistance in making this happen. Seeing my work published and knowing it helped to further the reach of Luna's company was tremendously rewarding. Her input proved to be as invaluable as this internship itself. Thank you, AIFS-GE!

My time with Global Experience was great. I had the opportunity of being partnered with an NGO in Ethiopia, where I was able to learn and practice various skills. Examples are project management, time management, writing, research and summary skills. Global Experience also provided workshops to teach us how to use our time in our placement effectively. Carmen was also very helpful in helping me navigate any issues I encountered, which further enhanced my time at Global Experience.

My experience with a host company headquartered in Spain and London was such a great opportunity. I had the distinct pleasure of delving into social media and content production, which had been an interest of mine for quite some time. With a background and degree in Communications, and on hiatus from my MBA in Marketing, I felt this was the perfect fit to gain some additional work experience while pivoting industries and returning to work. I was very pleased with both GE and the host company for this wonderful and unique opportunity that I would not have otherwise been exposed to. I highly recommend anyone looking for virtual internships to give this serious consideration. 10/10!

This was a fantastic program. I ended up interning for an Italian company, which I learned a lot from. We had a lot of support from Carmen regarding our preparation for our internships. 10/10 would recommend this program!

My internship was super fun and knowledgeable as well!! I really enjoyed the orientation and the weekly/bi-weekly check-ins, our coordinator was really nice and energetic. My supervisor at the placement was super helpful and I learned a lot about managing a small business. Personally, it was a great experience overall and introduced me to something I'd never done before.

I had an amazing internship experience with a marketing research agency based in the UK. Global Experiences really listened to the type of position I was looking for and was bang on with finding me something related to my research interests. Even though the program was virtual I still got a lot of valuable experience with research that I wouldn't have gotten in the classroom. The weekly sessions with other interns led by an enthusiastic member of the GE team were really helpful to learn about goals and career development. They were also really easy and friendly to communicate with, and had a positive attitude towards everything.

This experience gave me the opportunity to consider new possibilities in relation to my program.As a 4th year student I considered this as a great time to gain some more field related experience. Furthermore, the pandemic made options seem limited, however Global Experience provided an opportunity to gain some field related experience as intern. I was given many resources to help at every stage, resume, interviews, time management skills. Additionally, I had support every step of the way. One of the best parts was being able to take over Global Experiences’ instagram story for a day. It was a lot fun to share my day to day tasks with my internship. This also allowed me to answer questions for people interested in applying one day. This was a great experience and I highly recommend it!

My internship was a great experience!! I was paired with an NGO and that focused on human rights in the Middle East, which is exactly in my area of interest. The weekly check-in sessions were very energizing and helpful. Although living in Western Canada meant my meetings were held early in the morning, these meetings supposed my expectations and always gave myself a good start to the day! The staff at Global Experiences are always helpful to its interns who have questions, need motivation and find the ideal internship for you! 10/10 and recommend anyone seeking an internship to gain experience to do it!

My time during my virtual internship was quite insightful as it taught me many new skills upon being introduced to a new environment. The info sessions were fun and taught me valuable information that was able to be applied to my position in fashion marketing. It was also nice to have a small community with other students in the virtual program who I could talk with about my experiences as I grew more knowledgable over the duration of my internship. 10/10 Recommend!

Working with Global Experiences, I was able to make the most out of the current global situation and the impact it has had on all of us. I worked with an amazing company in Spain and made great connections with them as well as the GE staff. I felt supported throughout the entire process through weekly meetings and with the mid term check in. This was definitely a step outside of my comfort zone, both in the nature of the internship and the fact that it was virtual, but it has paid off and I feel as though I have gained many skills in my professional life now that the program has concluded.

This internship was a wonderful experience overall. I got the help I needed to find a placement that would best fit me and help grow my connections overseas! I was able to work for a brand that I was extremely interested in and grew a lot by being given different tasks. I would suggest this experience, especially if you're interested in finding work and connections in a different country. Without this program, I wouldn't have been able to find an internship on my own with a company outside the US. And although the internship was remote, I still felt like I was learning so much more about different cultures and the different expectations a company may have. Overall, this was a great experience that has really helped me grow as an individual and as a worker.

This was the first internship I've ever done and I don't think it could've been better. Due to the ongoing pandemic, I had to complete my internship online, but it was a great one for sure. The support I received throughout my whole journey, both from the internship organization (GE) and the organization in which I interned was amazing. I worked with Shamrock School in Nepal and got to teach students there for 8 weeks. It was an overall remarkable and insightful experience!
