Spanish Institute's orientation gives students vital information about adapting to life in Spain, the program, schedule, safety, activities, transportation, and internship placement. Spanish Institute's program includes an intensive two-week Spanish Course for all placements, which run for two months or longer. Each day comprises four-hour morning classes and afternoon activities. During this time, students get to know the city, its transportation system, and its cuisine – all while improving their Spanish skills.

However, finding such care can be challenging, as Spain’s education system is not fully equipped to accommodate these needs. Volunteers provide essential support, offering one-on-one care that enables individuals with disabilities to integrate into their communities and avoid stigma. What to Expect: Personal Care: Assist with specific activities related to physical therapy, arts and crafts, exercise, and daily living. Community Integration: Help individuals with disabilities become more integrated into their community. Support and Connection: Provide individual care and connect with the people you help. Daily Tasks: Arts and Crafts: Assist with creative activities. Physical Therapy: Support physical therapy sessions. Exercise: Engage in activities like swimming or walking with dogs. This all-in-one semester begins with one month traveling Spain by train, followed by two months in Barcelona where you choose your pathway. You’ll build soft skills (communication, confidence, problem-solving), hard skills (Spanish, digital tools, cooking), and leadership abilities focused on positive impact. Choose one of three pathways: - The Internship Pathway offers full-time hands-on experience, real projects, and strong hours for future credit or professional goals. - The Entrepreneurship Pathway combines a part-time internship with entrepreneurship labs, mentorship, and Spanish classes, ending in a Shark Tank–style pitch. - The Special Interest Pathway lets you blend part-time internship, volunteering, and classes, or focus fully on volunteering plus Spanish or creative electives.
