New Zealand - Conservation Experience

This project is perfect for nature lovers looking to explore New Zealand. The local organization boasts more than 2000 ongoing conservation projects throughout Australia and New Zealand. They are happy to welcome volunteers from around the world to assist in their efforts. Each weekend, groups of 10 volunteers depart from meeting points in major cities in New Zealand to their project sites. Most projects include challenging physical work but provide long-lasting friendships, central knowledge about wildlife in the region, and the opportunity to contribute in a practical way to environmental conservation. The projects involve: - Tree planting - Erosion and salinity control - Seed collection - Construction and maintenance of walking tracks - Endangered flora and fauna surveys - Weed control - Habitat restoration - Heritage restoration In order to facilitate the best and most varied experience, we encourage volunteers to commit at least 4 weeks to the program. Volunteers generally spend one or two weeks at each project site. Project hours are generally from 8 am to 4 pm. Projects take place in both urban and rural areas.

Environmental Conservation in the South Island, New Zealand

Come to New Zealand and get involved in a crucial environmental conservation project which aims to restore native forest habitat for the vulnerable local seabird, the Westland Petrel. This is one of the country's unique bird species with its only breeding location confined to a 5 km area in the foothills of the Paparoa Range. This project is located on the rugged and wild West Coast of New Zealand's South Island which will allow volunteers to explore some of the incredible scenery in the region. Volunteers who are in this project usually work in groups and take part in varied activities such as environmental monitoring, tree planting, weed control, seed collection, and prevention of the propagation of some plant species, among others. This project is ideal for those who love the outdoors and care so much for the environment. There are no specific skills required for this project. Volunteers should be prepared to work as a member of a team and must have a positive attitude. You are also expected to have a reasonable level of fitness in order to participate in all activities.

New Zealand Conservation Volunteer

Contribute to conservation efforts in New Zealand. Volunteers will be working in the Pupu Rangi Nature Sanctuary, an ideal location for learning what it takes to protect endangered species. Situated on the slopes of Northland's Tutamoe Peak, the sanctuary has 100 hectares of regenerating native forest. Volunteers gain access to an unexplored forest, beautiful views of the ocean, and the calls of the kiwi under visibly bright stars. Behind the beautiful scenery the location offers, witness the countless hours of hard work spent filling bait stations, cutting trails, and monitoring pest populations. Pupu Rangi can accommodate up to eight volunteers at a time. Due to the remote location and the basic training required, placements have a minimum duration of two weeks.

Great experience volunteering in HuaHin

I had a great time in Thailand volunteering through IVHQ. Their pre departure checklists and videos were really helpful, and gave me confidence. The handover to the local team was seamless, with pickups and transport working really well. During the placement, the accommodation was great, with a good range of extra activities to get involved in during our downtime. In my third week, I transferred to a private room, as my boyfriend joined, and this again was seamless, with local pickups and drop offs only a whatsapp away. And the placement itself was sooo rewarding! I did construction and renovation which was sometimes tough in the heat, but well worth it to see the gratitude on the faces of the pupils and teachers at the kindergarten.
