Projects Abroad Nepal has projects in Teaching, Care, Himalayan Mountain Conservation & Environment, and Medicine & Healthcare. As one of the world's poorest countries, volunteers are desperately needed in Nepal to help out in its schools and hospitals. Our office is based in the bustling city of Kathmandu - a city full of jostling crowds, rickety ox carts, and noisy auto-rickshaws. Most of our volunteer placements are located here too, although some are located in more rural areas of the Kathmandu valley. We also have some medical projects based in the lowlands area of Chitwan. Volunteers in Nepal live with host families. Some families welcome up to four volunteers into their home, and you'll usually share a room with one other volunteer. A couple of families even take up to twelve volunteers and these homes offer an experience more similar to living in a hostel. Nepal is a small yet stunning land of snow-capped mountains, majestic old temples, and the colorful city of Kathmandu. The home of Mount Everest draped along the backbone of the Himalayas, Nepal entices all kinds of people and they don't go home disappointed.
