The Women’s Empowerment volunteering program in Nepal is truly transformative. This enriching and rewarding experience offers a unique opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Nepali culture. The GVI Nepal team is dedicated to fulfilling their commitments to the Pokhara community while also maintaining a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. Participants quickly feel like part of the team, and the homestay soon feels like home. Engaging in one-on-one work with Nepali women provides not only a chance to give back, but also a chance to understand the challenges they face. This experience creates lasting memories and offers a profound learning opportunity. Volunteers should be prepared to revisit their own English learning days and bring plenty of energy to make the sessions enjoyable for the women, who, despite life’s challenges, are committed to bettering themselves by learning a second language. The Women’s Empowerment program strikes a magical balance between hard work, cultural immersion, and fun. It is an incredible opportunity for those from developed countries to give back to communities in need.

My experience in Nepal was eyeopening and amazing, where I am very grateful to have touched the lives of many women through empowerment. Living immersed in the culture was definitely something I am not used to but reflecting now I would not do it any other way as everyone apart of the homestay and all GVI coordinators were extremely supportive and made what was a challenging experience at first, one of the best experiences of my life that I will cherish forever. I had my birthday whilst on the trip and am forever grateful for the love I received on that day, where they even surprised me with a cake and I had no idea they knew it was my birthday. I hope to return very soon, to see all the amazing and loving women as you become so close with them and hope to see them succeed as they all have so much potential.
