Human Rights Internships in Morocco

This experience gave me a greater understanding of how organisations can work across borders to support communities. One of the most meaningful parts of my internship was learning about healthcare initiatives supporting refugee communities and international partnerships providing medical care to people affected by conflict and displacement. Seeing how resources can be used to improve the lives of both citizens and non-citizens showed me the impact that advocacy, collaboration, and compassion can have. I left Valencia feeling more motivated to pursue a career where I can contribute to positive change.

I have learnt how to do work online, draft appeals for clients whose cases have been denied, speak some Spanish, update clients about their cases, update the Spanish Bar Association database. Above that, I have learnt that time management, open mindedness, curiosity, confidence and asking questions are key to success. I want to extend my deeper appreciation for your help and guidance through this process. I have got immeasurable knowledge, understanding, work ethic, and experience through this internship. I am all over anew with the internship experience I received.

What I enjoyed most about the Human Rights & NGO Support internship in South Africa was the people and the overall experience of being in a new environment. I appreciated working with supportive colleagues and being around others from different backgrounds, which made the experience more meaningful. This internship helped me grow personally by making me more open-minded and independent. Professionally, I gained experience in communication, teamwork, and working on real projects. The internship also helped confirm my interest in international development and gave me a better understanding of how the field works.

Veronica helped me a lot and was very communicative. When I had questions, she answered fast and with well-thought out answers. I enjoyed writing stories and reading the news a lot. Since my internship was journalism and media, I loved being able to do what interests me. I’m excited to be able to use this experience on my resume for my future work; I believe it can contribute greatly towards my goals. This internship helped me navigate how a real news outlet works and how to communicate effectively.

I completed a journalism internship in Rabat, Morocco over the summer, and it was a truly rewarding experience. The friends that I made and met through my internship as fellow interns there opened my eyes to the diverse backgrounds that Intern HQ helps connect people with. I also gained valuable perspectives on how to interact with diverse groups of people with differing abilities, ages, and culture.

What I enjoyed the most during this internship were the people I met and the personal connections that formed outside of the work itself. Those moments made my time abroad feel meaningful on a human level, not just a professional one. In terms of personal and professional development, the internship helped me in a more subtle way. It showed me that I am capable of stepping out of my comfort zone, living in another country, adapting to a new environment, and taking responsibility for my work. The remote Legal Support for Human Rights Advocacy internship (hosted out of Tanzania) has empowered to be successful in my field as I learned a lot from my supervisor and I enjoyed that the most. I conducted relevant legal research in a foreign country to the standards of my peers. I have the confidence to tackle any challenge within the legal field. The internship also strengthened my passion for law and justice. It allowed me to see firsthand how legal systems operate in a different cultural and economic context, and it challenged me to think critically about fairness, access to justice, and professional ethics from that foreign environment.

What I enjoyed most about my internship was the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that directly supported women’s cooperatives and promoted legal literacy. I particularly valued working on the creation of accessible legal guides, as this allowed me to apply my research skills in a practical way while also seeing the real impact of the work. The experience pushed me to adapt to new challenges, like working across languages and managing time-sensitive tasks, which strengthened my resilience and problem-solving skills. Professionally, it gave me first-hand insight into how law and criminology intersect with grassroots development and social reform, while personally, it reinforced my motivation to pursue a career focused on justice and equality.

Intern abroad found me an internship I really enjoyed doing! All my conditions that I wanted were met and the company that I did my internship with were also very good. The support I received from intern abroad was also great- I could always reach out via email and even had support during my interview. Although it may seem expensive I definitely thought the experience was worth it.

This internship has allowed me to gain incredible insight into the inner workings of NGO's as well as the relationships and collaborative efforts between organisations with the same goals. It has given me confidence both in my ability to acclimate and contribute to different work environments and has also made me more confident in traveling independently and exploring countries with vast cultural and linguistic differences from that which i am used to.

I enjoyed doing my placement at my lab as it helped me gain further insight into different lab tests performed. I’ve definitely gained more confidence adapting to unfamiliar environments and I am happy I decided to step out of my comfort zone. I believe it helped me grow as a person.

Intern Abroad made sure that any queries I had were answered. The accommodation was a traditional Morrocan riad and the architecture was beautiful. What I enjoyed most about my overseas placement was the opportunity to immerse myself in a new healthcare environment and experience a different culture of care. Working alongside local healthcare professionals allowed me to witness alternative approaches to treatment, medication management, and patient interaction. This placement significantly contributed to both my personal and professional development.
