Fostered invaluable personal & professional growth while solidifying my passion via an internship

May 27, 2026by: Mialisoa Randria

What I enjoyed most about the Human Rights & NGO Support internship in South Africa was the people and the overall experience of being in a new environment. I appreciated working with supportive colleagues and being around others from different backgrounds, which made the experience more meaningful. This internship helped me grow personally by making me more open-minded and independent. Professionally, I gained experience in communication, teamwork, and working on real projects. The internship also helped confirm my interest in international development and gave me a better understanding of how the field works.

I enjoyed being able to explore a new city and culture

I enjoyed being able to explore a new city and culture over a few weeks, and being exposed to different working cultures and expectations. This has contributed to both my personal and professional development, through for example resilience, as when I found being abroad challenging I challenged myself to keep going. Being surrounded by people from all over the world also broadened my cultural understandings.

I really enjoyed working and living in Madrid, Spain and I've gained invaluable experience in the legal field that has (and hopefully will) continue to be helpful in my professional development moving forward!
