CIEE Summer Intern and Study Abroad are 6 to 7-credit, 6-week programs with a part-time internship (approximately 20 hours weekly), a seminar, and a 3-credit academic course. CIEE Semester Internships CIEE Semester Global Internships are 9 to 13-credit, 12-week programs that feature a full-time internship (approximately 30 hours weekly), a seminar, and an optional 3 to 4-credit academic course online. CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad Programs are 12 to 14-credit, 12-week programs that feature a part-time internship​ (approximately 20 hours weekly), a seminar, and two academic courses.

RECRUITING NOW! Get the chance to volunteer in a laboratory in Ghana, an area that needs your support. Volunteers will be based in a hospital that provides services in general medicine: ophthalmology, ECG, venereology, dermatology, x-ray, laboratory tests, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, medicine, ultrasound, and mother and child healthcare. There is only one laboratory in the whole hospital, which focuses on blood, urine, and feces, so volunteers will never be short of work to do! This is a fantastic project for anyone with an interest in laboratory work as volunteers will gain an insight into local diseases. Volunteers are highly valued by the local staff and encourage cross-cultural awareness and the development of making global citizens. In connection to COVID-19, Ghana has put in place some precautionary measures for the locals' and visitors' safety. Volunteers need to be fully vaccinated to participate in the program. You will also be required to take a PCR test at the airport upon arrival in Ghana. You will be spending ​the first three nights in a hotel arranged by the ground team before joining your homestay.

Immerse yourself in a beautiful Ghanaian city while learning about the countrys approach to providing healthcare services to its citizens. Program participants will gain a global perspective on the overall Ghanaian healthcare system delivery services, various socioeconomic factors, and the structural and financial healthcare challenges medical professionals deal with. They will be able to address public health topics like family planning, adoption, teen pregnancy, sex education, and endemic tropical diseases. Our Generation Voluntary Organisation partners with a number of hospitals in Ghana that are in need of midwifery school electives/midwife interns. These are either busy city hospitals or smaller town hospitals and clinics. Hospitals in Ghana offer an excellent base for learning and improving midwifery skills. International participants will discover a different approach to midwifery and will learn a lot about various unfamiliar methods. Participants come into contact with pregnant women suffering from complications such as malaria and typhoid on an almost daily basis. These experiences will be of huge value to your future career in midwifery.
