As part of this project, you will help entrepreneurs and small businesses in Tanzania gain access to financing, but the project goes beyond just financial support. On this project you will also help business people improve and grow their business model. Working with a local partner organization, you will help direct funding and support into a wide variety of local, sustainable enterprises. Therefore, they cannot implement business ideas like agricultural projects, craft stores, shops, or restaurants. Their lives stagnate, making improving their living conditions impossible. Village Community Banks (Vicobas) are an essential instrument of development work because they provide people without access to conventional bank accounts with funding opportunities to finance their agricultural or small entrepreneurial projects and children's education. Vicobas provides basic insurance for serious diseases and other claims, a social security system, and regular meetings and training to empower members. Volunteers should have previous knowledge in finance, entrepreneurship, economics, microfinance, or a similar field. This placement involves activities all over the Kilimanjaro Region and rural areas of Tanzania. It is also open to students seeking internship opportunities abroad.
